    I forgot that The Black Phone is based on a short story, but my point still stands. Just wanted to clarify that it isn't technically "original".

    you know what horror trend needs to stop, the sheer lack of nudity in horror films in the last 20 years is ridiculous. I would give anything to get another decade of unrestrained horror like we had back in the 70s and 80s

    Captain Hook in the basement is the first child James that was taken at the beginning of the movie...James = James Hook = Captain Hook.

      Got it, that doesn’t really make it much better. He still serves no purpose, has nothing to do with the actual character of Captain Hook, and is there just to try to sell this as Peter Pan when it isn’t.

    So thinking about this (never seen any of their work) i would have done peter as a cannibal, that takes children to the far away neverland, where they find their food resources have been depleted, and the lost boys are just the eaten skeletal remains of the children who once were. That would atleast be more original and something more thrilling, and since the other boys are dead the power of imagination is gone from neverland, but one of the victims he brings in for a meal, brings the power of imagination with him/her, in order to defeat peter.

    It’s gonna be a thing for at least the next five to ten years. A lot of characters are entering public domain so anyone can do anything with them. Also the POONIVERSE movies are being made by a small indie company and by a script / screenwriter whom this is his indie big debut. They are only in theaters for a few days for a limited release. These movies aren’t for everyone. If you don’t like. Don’t see.

    • @BoxOfChocolatez
      @BoxOfChocolatez  15 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Being a small company isn't an excuse, it doesn't cost money to write a good script that feels like you're actually trying to bring the audience the best version of your idea rather than rush out as many cheap films as quickly as possible. I did see it, I have honest criticisms, and that's ok.

      Someone is perfectly within their rights to hang out with their friends and have fun. The issue comes when they start charging people money. A ticket to Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare and a ticket to Oppenheimer cost the same, so you better be putting in the effort.

    I personally have a pet idea in my head about Peter Pan on the scary side, my child brain came up with this when I asked myself how he stays youthful forever, the answer was, “Feeding off The Lost Boys” and over time I’ve had it floating around (I’m a writer I have 50 stories floating around at all times lol I’m actually overwhelmed sometimes and forget them for a bit but the good ones come back).
    So, Peter Pan is only able to sustain his youth by feeding off the Lost Boys, that’s why they’re sequestered on this island in Neverland. Which is a real world, just a parallel one, that’s why the boys are lost. There’s nowhere else for them to go and they don’t even know where they are in relation to home. And over time the magic of the island makes them forget they ever had another life. So they don’t remember Peter abducted them. Only he knows that.
    I haven’t delved deep into this one because it’s a childhood story, I have many childhood stories, like one came from a dream where these beautiful flowers grow on the floor of this crystal clear lake.
    And there’s an island that I lived on with other girls and we were only allowed to swim in circles around the island because there’s big whale shark looking creatures who’d supposedly attack if you went after the flowers. Idk lol. When I write it out I reminds me of an anime but I was like 8 or 9. Could be a million stories, the sharks are protecting something, the sharks are preventing something from happening if a girl gets a certain flower.
    So the psychological aspects of Peter Pan feeling a need to stay youthful could go in so many directions too. He’s a good guy; Peter must abduct boys to stay young to protect other worlds from Captain Hook, who sails into other dimensions and does horrible things to conquer them, so Peter is torn because he has to take little boys to stay the eternal safeguard of other worlds, that’s why he just lets them play and eat whatever they want, he feels guilty.
    Actually now that I’m thinking about that… That would be an epic story lol. Now that is a Peter Pan I’d really enjoy. All the missions to thwart Hook in different worlds. The magical way he takes boys but you know he’s heartbroken over doing it and making them fly away with him, because the youth he feeds off also makes him miss all the parents of the kids, so he’s the one saddled with the longing for a thousand moms and dads he never had, so the boys aren’t sad. He’s a tragic hero. And no one really knows other than Tinkerbell (and Hook obviously) because they’re going into different worlds and stopping bad things, so there’s no record of him being a hero, no one knowing who Peter Pan means he’s successful. So he’s all alone dealing with everything that happens.
    Wendy could be an older sister who manages to capture Peter’s magic in the room with the boys so she flies too and stays back a bit so Peter doesn’t notice her until it’s too late and they’re on the island and that could go a million places too. She becomes his partner, Hook abducts her because Peter is in love with her, she turns on Peter to help Hook because he lies and promises he’ll take all the boys home. She doesn’t understand the eternal battle they’re locked in.
    Yeah. I like that lol. If I can make that up in 5 seconds then they can do better with a feature film budget!

      @BoxOfChocolatez  16 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    I wish these fairytale stories given they're public domain and some had recently become public
    They should make the original story they were based on
    Go dark and I don't mean make them killers and literal monsters I mean the original stories were dark but still have a fairytale feeling
    Bambi a life in the woods is dark darker than the animated classic I know the movie was dark too but it's still cutesy talking animals sniffing flowers, chasing butterflies and skating on ice
    Bambi 2 up the innocence
    The book Bambi was based written how harsh the woods truly is
    In the beginning there isn't a bunch of critters seeing the newborn Bambi intsead it's a magpie who won't stop talking about her chicks
    And Faline had a brother named Gobo which during the part where Man is on a hunting spree btw in the book instead of the animals calling the humans "Man" they all say "He" or "Him" kinda like god
    After they hunted every animal in the meadow Bambi's mom is killed but the book says that she starts to neglect Bambi telling him that he's not a baby anymore and Bambi's father scolds him saying "can't you stay by yourself?, Shame on You" after Bambi wonders around the woods calling for his mother after finding her missing from the den they were sleeping
    Bambi does the same thing in the end of the book to his kids after Faline leaves them
    After months wild animals particularly the father leaves they're offspring and ignore them same goes for the mothers when mating seasons approaching they start to ignore they're children
    Some animals do that it's pretty sad but animals age differently compared to humans
    Bambi after he mates with Faline which is his cousin cause Faline's mom is Bambi's mom's sister it's crazy
    There's also a scene in the book where a hunting dog is having a conversation with Fox who has an injury on his neck and bleeding from the dog
    The fox shames the dog for betraying his kind and the dog tells him that he is loyal to Him cause he is the most powerful
    In the end of the book Bambi's father after months being taught how to survive is shown a dead man in the snow which seems to have killed himself which Bambi says "there is another that is watching over us all, over us and over Him"
    After seeing the human corpse Bambi's father tells him his time is up and he's going to find a peaceful place to lie down and die and calls Bambi his son for the first time
    Giving Bambi the role as the great prince of the forest
    The whole story was dark and I wish that was adapted into a movie accurately
    No changes and random added dialogue like modern jokes

      @BoxOfChocolatez  17 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      You're right, a lot of these original stories were very dark and they could make good adaptations, but they want to go the easy route unfortunately.

    Betty Boop becomes public domain in 2028. In the original cartoons, since they were aimed more at adults, not kids, she's REPEATEDLY SAed by men and monsters. They were always trying to kiss her against her will, trying to force her into marriage, etc.
    So before they stop doing this we need a Betty Boop movie in the style of I Spit On Your Grave.
