    Brother, you probably hear it all the time, but you are a very talented educator and presenter. I've been fishing for over 50 years, but learn something good on every single video. Thanks for the effort and professionalism

      Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know. I try to put that extra effort into each one. If someone can have success on the water and enjoy such a wonderful sport, it makes all the time worth it.

      I power shot now way more than I use traditional small drop shot weights. But I fish a lot of clear water where the bass are a lot deeper. Works great!

    Steve, thanks so much for what you do for us. I want to thank you for NOT interjecting politics, religion, self centered agenda and screaming ridiculousness. Just the fish the whole fish and nothing but the fish and tips to help us get them. No ffs debate. None of it ! Most of us can't afford that crap anyway. A fella can learn a lot from you if they just shut up ,watch and listen. Greatest tip so far ,for me , so far, if they ain't shallow look at the first drop off near bedding areas. Thanks

      Thanks so much! That means a lot to me. Stuff has definitely gotten crazy expensive. It has changed so much in the last 10 years.

    Steve, one thing I’ve wondered about…… instead of putting a 1/2 oz weight at the bottom, why not tie on a jig or dark sleeper to tap along the bottom and have the drop shot hook tied a foot or two above it with the fluke or whatever. Maybe cover two areas with two different lures? Just a thought and something I might try.

    • @SteveRogersOutdoors
      @SteveRogersOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Definitely. It will work great for you. I just did a video about a month ago talking about putting a tube jig as the weight. I should have put that in this video. I'm interested to see how the dark sleeper does for you. Definitely let me know! Thanks for adding this.

      Sounds cool very ingenious approach. Probably something totally different that nobody has ever tried. A jig at the bottom with a trailer where weight then the baby z too as mid point bait I'd try that to see. Something unique for sure that I'm sure a fish would surely bite 😀👍😁

    • @joegrande4848
      @joegrande4848 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also to really increase probability of bite. Spray baby z too with proline shad attractant an the jig an trailer with cray fish attraction to jig to see which one the fish bites best an added approach

    • @joegrande4848
      @joegrande4848 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the baby zoo too didn't work a finess worm impregnated with salt where drop shot hook is. To do something really unique tie a 3rd hook slightly higher up with worm, the 2nd one a baby z an the weight a half oz football head jig with trailer. Spray nightcrawler proline attractant then the shad pro line attractant on the baby z then the jig with crayfish attractant 😀👍

    I am quite behind on drop-shotting, It's been something I knew of but just never rigged up. After watching this and some other stuff on it I just Amazon ordered Baby Z too in the deal color and a cheepo hook/weight kit. You are bad for my gear addiction for sure. What you call "Just quick rule of thumb" Is eye opening stuff Steve. Some day when the bite is real slow I can see myself Setting up a scenario rig with a big ol football wobble jig and some lizard/creature as the Drop weight with an umbrella style array of lil plastic minnows pickin' at what is getting stirred up. If I didn't just spend the bucks on replacing my decks I'd be joining to support ya. but for now it's just thanks again ...man i need to get out soon...been a long wait for the boat...

      Good luck with the drop shot! It is a solid rig that really works well. Thanks for everything!

    Just what I was looking for. How does this video not have more views? I just heard about this rig.. either its not as effective as regular drop shotting.. or not many people know about it yet.. I'm hoping the latter so I can clean up!

    Great content! What's your rod reel and line setup for this?

    • @SteveRogersOutdoors
      @SteveRogersOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was using a 6'10" drop shot rod. Med light with an extra fast action. Size 20 reel with braid to leader. Usually my leader is 10lb and I always use a swivel when drop shotting to eliminate line twist.

    Years ago I found a brush pile and wanted some crappie for dinner so I dropped the traditional crappie/perch spreader rig with two hooks tipped with minnows. I immediately started catching largemouth. They obviously were on the bite and not finicky. I have never really reproduced that. What are your thoughts on using two hooks while drop-shotting like this, similar to the double fluke method you talked about? Any issues with tangling, line size etc. that should be considered? Thoughts?

    • @SteveRogersOutdoors
      @SteveRogersOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I have used a tube jig as my drop shot weight many times with great success. Just put an insert head inside the tube with the exposed hook. Used this method a lot on Lake Erie. Never had any issues with line tangling. It was fun experimenting like that to see where the fish were caught - on the bottom or on the drop shot hook. I did use a longer leader on the tag line though to keep the lures a little farther apart.
