- The CHVRCHES stream will start around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3. CHVRCHES electronic indie synth-pop sound helps them stand out from the crowd, which seems to the Glasgow-based band’s goal. Lauren Mayberry’s distinctive vocals trill through lyrics on songs such as “Never Ending Circles”, “Get Out” and, most recently, on their single “Miracles” from their newest album 'Love is Dead.' Mayberry, Martin Doherty and Iain Cook expertly mix synthesizers with instruments like the piano, drums and guitar to make for a dream-like listening experience, with a new sound around every corner. With devoted fans since their founding in 2011, it is no wonder that both of their shows at Palace Theatre (Oct 2 and 3) are both sold out.

I absolutely love the records (cept the new album's extra poppy song. Forget what its called cause I deleted it from the playslist.) but I think she sounds and moves the same. Which isn't much.
I 've just realised that the more powerful and bright she sings, the more her voice is becoming close to Bjork's one.

@@qzrnuiqntp Bjork has way more power and vocal range. Much more sultry. I love Lauren's voice and she's definitely becoming more comfortable on stage and as the center of attention, but i'm not hearing the bjork comparison at all.
Well, I totally agree with you, but I hear something similar in their vocal color. Perhaps because I mostly hear classical singers, so all light voices singing with a mic with a pop technique have for my ears something similar, even if they are in fact quiet different.

Just get lost in the music! My brother in law does the same thing when he listens to live music, or any music for that matter. As in he starts telling me this sounds bad because of this and that and I would have adjusted bla bla sound source equalization and changed these audio effects and reinforcement of sound and so on. 98% of what he talks about when I’m at a concert with him or listening to music with him when he’s not on some tour around the world I don’t understand and don’t hear what he hears anyway. I’m happy I don’t hear like he does and I’m sad for him and others alike that they just can’t get lost in music. Live, radio, in your car where you just go someplace else and could just keep driving and the next thing you know your 2 states away from home. Music brings me to another place where I can escape real life for however long I want to be there. It’s emotional for me. I thought being a sound engineer would be one of the best jobs one could have but not if your unable to listen to music without hearing what’s wrong with it. That’s a curse if you ask me.
Yeah as a producer I can hear the weird annoyances in sound and mixing. I think its overall a positive change as I can appreciate the depth of production more now, but sometimes I miss the days when I could listen to music without dissecting it in my head

VERY BEAUTIFUL PRESENTATION Pity THAT WE ARE REACHING ALMOST IN THE FINAL MINUTES OF THIS LIVE, I HOPE THAT EVERYONE HAS A GOOD LONG-TERM HOLIDAY, A REMAINING NIGHT WITH A GOOD REST, FOR THOSE WHO ARE SITUATED AT BRAZIL LEVEL AND A SWEET REST WITH SIGO NATURE AROUND THE GLOBE WHERE YOU LIVE...
This must be a straight soundboard, as there's no audience or resonance from the theatre. I left the Palace balcony with a brain splitting headache and a giant grin. 'Such an amazing show, and a great place to attend. I will say the sound is significantly better on the 2nd tier of the floor (saw Lake Street Dive this spring), and was better in the balcony for Trampled By Turtles in May. That being said, Chvrches!

Thanks for recording the show! I was there and love watching it back, though this doesn't do the soul-shaking bass justice. Clear Blue was the surprise of the night for me.
I hope CHVRCHES never remove Sciene/Visions from their live setlist. Fucking amazing song.
Gotta say I love seeing the Minimoog on stage again. Lauren gets all the love but those guys in the back are really where it's at. Real Analog is the best!

Saw them Tuesday @ the Palace - absolutely thumping!! The audio of this video is pretty good - but if you are thinking of seeing them, just know that they bring it way more than this audio allows. Definitely seeing them the next time they come through - hopefully in a venue as tight as the Palace Theater.
John I was at the show too. I couldn’t even hear her vocals from where we were. The audio was so over driven.

I’ll start this with the fact that I love them. I love Lies. I’ve seen it live quite a few times. I miss hearing Never Ending Circles more. I understand it’s to support their new album. Enjoy many of the tracks, but one of my favorites is Wonderland. Bottom line between their tracks and stand up bits, they put on a damn good show!
Ryan nelson yes, personally I’ve seen the first two tours so many times I am pretty much tired of that era and it’s songs. The beginning of the love is dead tour was pretty much EOE tour in disguise with a few new songs. I’m glad they are playing all the new ones now with a few oldies. This is how it should be every tour. I am actually happy that they had a solid setlist they didn’t change for about a year and a half on EOE tour. That way, some people didn’t miss out on some of the new songs like I did. :(

I just listened to this and couldn't agree more, regarding the live version being amazing. It's one of those times I wish bands would re-record some of their older material. When you play songs live year after year, you get little ideas as to how to improve the song without drastically changing it, and this is a great example of that.

You book the coolest live-band into the most beautiful venue. Build the best stage with the best lights. The place is sold out and the sound is great. Your video crew is as talented as it comes.

I was there at the Friday show.
I appreciate the live show posting but the sound mixing on this show recording is horrible. I am sure the attendees heard it correctly but this recording is pathetic. I did attend 2 of the Love is Dead shows and is not even close to a proper live representation of what a show sounds like.
I saw them back in 2013 at Electric Fetus it was a desk concert so I didn’t get to see them perform Clearest Blue fuck

Of course Lauren is the best but it was really cool to see the drummer go at it, Iain pull off a solo on Forever and Martin/Dok step into a solid frontman role on his couple songs!

It’s too bad there is a deficient vocal mix for some songs, the low-fi frequently response, and the minimal, if any, stereo. Some of their other concerts posted on TH-cam have better sound, including fidelity and dynamic range. Look away and just listen without the visual (and its somewhat soft resolution) and it’s not good. The world is perceived as differences. "Bad sound makes makes good video look bad."

@@gc8972b For one, better performance would help a lot but a good mix would really help . Brian Fordham thinks people are picky picky for critizing the mix but for something with this budget you'd think they'd knock it out of the park and get fans to want to pay to see them live. It alsmot sounds like Lauren can't hear herself on the monitors.
