This video was unbelievable for Army….there was a hint that COVID was nearing the end and restrictions would be lifting and there are hints also of a tour …and us new army thinking of possibility of seeing these beautiful people were so excited …if you notice Jhope points signs of cities which we now know were their Los Angeles and Las Vegas concerts…a purple balloon is floating thru every sequence of the video…a signal to Army that normal was returning..but then not long after came “The break” announcement during Festa and looming military enlistment….its been an emotional roller coaster befor sure!

The "Da na na na na na" choreo part was so wholesome because it's made of sign language. This song just made my whole mood happy. It made me love them even more. "We don't need to worry, 'cause when we fall we know how to land" that line was just so comforting in so many ways.

The people who took the biggest hit during the pandemic are all represented here... entertainers, restaurant workers, school kids/schools, older people, mail/package services (whose workload exploded). Everyone was affected, but these were the first and most comprehensive changes.
I think that's a big reason why healthcare professionals were super vocal about adoring this song when it came out... we loved it. It felt hopeful...I know I used it to calm me down and help me sleep a lot.

Just a side note, if you watch or have already watched Barbie, the outfit that Ken wears in the movie is a replica of Jimin's outfit. The actor (Ryan Gosling) even told Jimin he thought Jimin wore it better and gifted the guitar from the movie to Jimin which Jimin humbly accepted and thanked him for.

All members are in the army now. Yesterday Namjoon and V went to the army and all 7 were there, today Jimin and Jk...Yoongi and J-hope took 2 days off to see their brothers, and Jin was waiting for them there. BTS said "You never walk alone" and none of the members were sent to serve alone. They're always together.
BTS left Army to look after the magic shop alone and now It's empty. The moment BTS and Army reunite, Magic Shop will open again and everything will be purple again!💜

Fun Fact: the trio who appears as school students were actually the trainees under hybe. Both girls (Hanni and Minji) debuted under NewJeans (group under Ador, one of hybe's subsidary). The boy Leo was part of Trainee A (bighit's boygroup) but their debut got scrapped and he left the label.

Many people had criticisms about this song for being in English and being the same pop style as Dynamite and Butter, but I personally love it. It was their closer song for the PTD concerts so it was fun to say goodbye to them at the concert while dancing with them. I know your chronological journey is almost done and BTS are all enlisted now, but I look forward to sticking around and watching you all catch up until BTS return in June 2025 💜

Fun fact, Ken in Barbie the movie cowboy’s outfit was inspired Jimin’s cowboy fringey outfit. Ryan Gosling even made a video like a tribute and shouted out Jimin about it. Ryan also gifted Jimin a guitar which was also a prop from the Barbie movie and Jimin also made a video to thank Ryan. 💜

The "Permission to Dance" theme was largely about celebrating what seemed like the end of lockdown and hence, it was the name of their first concerts in LA & then Vegas after a couple of years of not being able to tour. I flew my family across the country to LA to join the celebration. Almost everyone on our plane in the row in front, behind & to the side was Army. A real financial splurge but worth every cent. So much fun!
Yes!! My flight from Edmonton (Canada) to LA was the same, full of Army. The border security guy was so unsurprised when he asked me why I was flying to LA... Guess he'd already seen 100s of us go through. 😂
a lot of non armys always criticize their trilogy of english songs (dynamite, butter & ptd) but for me they’re also really meaningful. covid brought a lot of fear & sad moments to so many people & they came with the happiest tunes & lyrics & content that helped me lift up my mood in those awful moments. they really were an important key for me during those days.

This was released July 9th 2021 as the second track along with Butter. It was a motivational song to people who had been in quarantine and stuck at home during the pandemic. It was near the end of the pandemic in the images of people removing their masks is an expression of freedom and that you don't need anyone's permission to dance.

And it's so wholesome that so many people were using sign language because of BTS!! I remember a video of some kids with auditive impairment reacting to this and they were so amazed!!!!
Fun fact: when we heard the song for the first time, spanish speakers (me included) thought Jungkook was singing in spanish.
Another interesting fact: the thing Jin does with his hands to adjust the glasses is not acting, it's how he actually reaches his glasses.
Also, the behind the scenes of this MV are so much fun and they show way more that didn't make it to the final cut.

If you notice in the last scene where the crew is dancing behind them, look directly behind J-Hope on the far left, and Bang PD is dancing directly behind J-Hope, in all black, third from the left on his row. I think you affectionately refer to him as 'Doug', lol. If I'm not mistaken, this is the only MV he has ever appeared in.

Some more fun facts..1) a day or two before the release of this video there was a teaser. One of the members was holding a newspaper and the headline stated "purple balloons signify the end of Covid 19" (balloons seen throughout the video...which were tethered by fishing line as seen in the "making of the mv" so they wouldn't harm the environment...BTS think of everything) 2) Elton John responded on Twitter to the mention of his name in the song. 3) They said they made the choreo easy on purpose hoping everyone would be able to dance it 4) Ryan Gosling wore the same shirt that Jimin was wearing in this MV in the Barbie movie (black with white fringe) . Ryan posted on Twitter his admiration of Jimin saying Jimin "wore it better". As part of the "Ken Code", he gifted Jimin his guitar from the movie as thanks. 5) Hitman Bang, their performance director Son Sung Deuk and the CEO of HYBE are all dancing with the crew at the end too. Thanks for a fun, uplifting reaction that we all needed this week!

Dynamite was a single but then later included on the BE album which came shortly after with the title track Life Goes On. Permission to Dance was included on the Butter single album 😊
PTD had ARMY very divided when it came out, a lot of people had little positive to say about it so I’m so glad y’all enjoyed it. It was such a dose of happiness 💜

I'm so happy that this song brought you all so much joy, because that's exactly what it was meant to do! At the time that it was released it was at a moment when everyone thought we were heading toward the end of the pandemic, but then there was another wave and things got shut down again (including BTS in-person anniversary events). Sadly, I think the reason you don't hear as much about it from ARMY is that the reactions to it when it came out were very mixed. At the time, it was their 3rd English release, and unfortunately a lot of people felt it was their right to openly express very strong negative opinions about the choice to release another English song. It's honestly the most disappointed I've ever been in ARMY, because even some of the true veteran ARMYs I knew were vocally against it. I saw accusations that is was "too Disney", "for kids", etc. But BTS was literally just trying to bring joy and light to as many people globally as they could. I'm not sure why that made so many people angry, but as usual they overcame. Eventually they used the title as the name of their first in-person tour when things opened up, and one of the most joyful experiences of the 2 concerts I was able to see in person was when they sang this & we all sang and danced with them. It felt like a beautiful redemption for a song that deserved so much love from people who deserve even more. 💜

Don’t know if anyone mentioned this, but it was Taehyung who suggested they add the sign language, so at the end end of the video they were all showing that part - here is the explanation of what each means : Scratching their body while raising the thumb and slightly bending the rest of the fingers means 'fun'. Moving 2 fingers side to side on top of the palm of the other hand as a stage represents 'dancing' and lastly making 'V' sign means 'peace.

On Patreon I said that PTD is my least favorite, but I really enjoyed watching this with CCW. PTD definitely provides a much-needed mood booster. I wish CCW could have experienced the live concert version, so much fun to hear ARMY sing it together.

Thank you so much! What a great video to have today. Pure joy. I like a lot of all the different styles BTS does, but this video is my favorite of theirs. It has all the uniting, hopeful, happy vibes, and there are some surprisingly deep layers in the video too. I remember being brought to tears when those masks started coming off when I watched the video premiere. After months of pandemic lockdown and craziness, it was the right video at the right time. And it still puts a smile on my face today. 💜
