    I just vented my cap and discovered a very good way to deal with those two tiny opposing springs is to use a gob of Petroleum Jelly to retain the spring where it goes into its seat on each "arm". This will hold them in place good enough until you can squeeze them together the way they are suppose to go.

    The two little rubber plugs in my gas cap were completely wedged and stuck in place not allowing any air into the tank without me having to open the gas cap. Thanks dear video I was able to get it apart unwedge the rubber bits and it's working now

    Great video to re assemble gas cap. Screw vibrated loose and fell into tank. Lost spring while trying to reassemble, Mr. Adams addressed this but thought I could handle it, looked three hours for the spring, replaced with 3/16 X 7/8 or .775 x 22.225 x/406 Tilley comp spring and cut to length. , replace with stock screw, had to grind screw head to fit cap, total cost $4.75. works great.

      I was wondering the same question. I watched the video 5 times and didn't get it. So guys, I bought from Amazon aftermarket gas cap. Look the same. Soni disassembly and the difference is in the aftermarket gas cap there is no rubber plugs at all. Underneath is only one small hole. On the Oem gas cap underneath have 2 small hols.
      So this let me think the aftermarket is already vent it? Yes or no. If someone one i can share pictures via WhatsApp
      004917661941526
      And just to be clear
      Do we have to remove something or just clean the plugs?

    Hi James! I was riding a motorcycle in rainy weather and the motorcycle stopped working. Stopping, I could not start it. After opening the tank plug, the sound of intake air followed and after that the engine started normally. This only happens in rainy (wet) weather. Is it due to the malfunctioning of these valves?

    • @Jadams1911
      @Jadams1911  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have an after market air filter, rain can be sucked in the carb causing this problem. some people will put an air filter sock over the air filter when they ride in the rain. Also water can be thrown up on the coils causing you to lose spark. I've had this happen to me a few times. Just pull the connecters and apply dialectical grease to the connectors

  • @soumilinon

    I`m sure it doesn`t need to be vented anymore than the factory settings!!
    But... this video is what I was looking for,on a road trip my girlfriends gas cap was loose,she removed it and 90% of cap was in the tank(which was full).Tried fishing out with flashlight magnet(side of highway).Way too many parts and white metal
    Ended up taping some of the cap onto tank (Sunday no less)
    Lucked out and found a chainsaw gas cap that fit good enough to get home(400 miles)
    Bottom line---What a fucking stupid cap setup!!!! and cost is $102

    When you show the viewers something, it cannot be seen, as there is no sufficient lighting.
    That sliding action, when you forward the vid, is very distracting, and cause my vision to shrew up, for one don't expect that sort of action.
    Also: are those rubber plugs supposed to come out and leave out?
    I am having the problem as to how to vent?

    Please could you clear that up for me?

    • @chaoswest4570

      FRED DAVIS AKA DOG start with the regulator. It's most likely the issue.. the tests are long and confusing and I spent a lot of time Tearing my bike apart and ordering parts just to replace a stator that wasn't bad. eBay has em cheap. Long story short, I have an entire new charging system bc a $30 easily accessible part went out. Now I'm out at least $250.

    • @peprml
      @peprml 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Heya Chaos. Although I'm sure Fred has his problems figured out by now, here's a link for future reference. You don't have to take the side cover off to do the tests. You want to measure ohms across the three combinations of wires from the stator, continuity to make sure its not grounding out between ground and each of the three wires, and with engine running, check AC current across all three combinations of the stator wires.
