  • Short video of the evolution of Sig SP 2022. Camera is crapping out so sound quality is not the best, also had to keep it short the camera won't record more than 15 min. I will make a longer more detail video once I get a new camera.

    I've had my 2022 for over 12 years now and absolutely love it. I was lucky and got it from Academy Sports in New Orleans for $300. This was right before the BUZZ started about this amazing pistol. Yes, it came in a brown bag with only one mag but I didn't give a F. I've easily put 20K rounds through it, and up until recently with the Covid ammo/primer issues, I have had ALMOST ZERO issues. The only upgrades that I have done are inserting a stainless guide rod, Talon rubberized grips, and a Streamlight TL-3 light. Mags are expensive but Mec Gar makes some great ones and they run flawlessly. I have a KT Mech OWB Defender Light bearing holster and have OnYour6Designs mag pouches. We live in VERY cold midwestern state so its pretty easy to conceal with heavy jackets. Definteley our travel gun and primary Home defense pistol.

    For those that are interested, the Mec-Gar +2 baseplates for the 15-round 9mm SP2022/SP2009 mags that give you 17 rounds of 9mm, will also work on the .40 S&W/.357 SIG 12-round magazine, to give you 14 rounds of .40 or .357 SIG.

  • @danielgreen6547

    Man, you like these guns even more than I do! This is an awesome collection. Have you ever seen the LSI import 2022s? Supposedly they came from Germany with *real* short reset triggers (not "short-reach" triggers) and looked like they had a slightly different rail. There were a bunch of them on Gunbroker last year, and I wanted to snag one, but didn't have the coin available (they were expensive, around $1000).
    Let's all hope SIG continues to manufacture these guns. Durability wise these are some of the best pistols they have ever made, and I still think the SP2009/2340/2022 DA trigger is one of the best ones out of the box for a non-competition gun.

    Very informative video. I watched because a holster model I was looking at on eBay had a choice for SP 2022 gen 1 or gen 2. Mine is all black, has a loaded chamber indicator, rails, a lanyard hole further up on the grip, the cutouts on the slide are further apart and has the indentation on the offside for the takedown/ slide release pin. It seems to be a mix of the German model and the newer model. Would you consider this gen 2?

    • @katanapr3
      @katanapr3  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes when it comes to holsters all SP2022 are considered gen 2, the SP2340 and SP2009 are the gen 1.
      Basically no rail gen 1, rail gen 2.

      @@katanapr3 I've watch your clip, I'm not sure what you're saying in one moment-is this stainless (silver color) version newer than nitron? It's very important because now in Polish market there are only two SP 2022 available (!), one in nitron and one in inox

    • @katanapr3
      @katanapr3  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@atanazy83 the stainless steel finish is irrelevant to generation, at one point or another they came in that configuration. What I am referring in the video is that the second generation of the SP2022 had some changes from the first generation made in Germany. My second generation happens to be in the two tone configuration (stainless steel finish). Sig has always used Nitron finish in their guns except in some models that are ceracote and the ones with the stainless finish, and of course the German model that had a different finish.

    • @katanapr3
      @katanapr3  ปีที่แล้ว

      Olight has a lot of flash lights and flash lights laser combos that would work perfectly with the SP2022. But then your are going to have a hard time finding a holster that works with what ever light you get. The SP2022 is a great gun, too bad it doesn't have the aftermarket support.

    • @katanapr3
      @katanapr3  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The new SP2022 models only come in 9mm and have a loaded chamber indicator on the top of the slide.
      The 357sig and 40s&w were discontinued a while back. You can still find 40s&w barrels in the used market but the 357sig barrel is very difficult to find and when you do be ready to spend a pretty penny.
      However due to the chamber indicator on the new SP2022 in order to swap the barrel you would have to remove the indicator of the slide or buy an older slide without it.
      They are excellent guns, I have 6 or 7 of them now!

    Hi, thanks for the video! I'm in the market for a sp2022 and I noticed on the sig website that all they have is the sig sp2022 nitron carry edition. Do you know what the differences are between this model and the rest?

    • @katanapr3
      @katanapr3  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nitron is the what Sig use to finish their guns. Companies have different processes or names to how the finish their guns for example Melonite, Armonite, Parcarize are names or processes use by others.
      In the end Nitron Carry is just a cool name to market the gun.
