How to approach a lioness on foot at a suspected den site

  • There are no firm rules on how to approach a den site as it all depends on the variables around the chosen area, but in this particular case it was necessary to search on foot as it had been unsuccessful from the vehicle. One morning, the Purple Eyed lioness had been seen on the LIVE Djuma waterhole camera, so it was a good opportunity for the experienced bush walk team to follow her fresh tracks to confirm if she did in fact have cubs in the area.

You guys are phenomenal! You have such knowledge and common sense, when tracking and teaching, and by acknowledging and respecting each other's strengths, you stay safe and get the best outcome. Beautiful Africa!

Done with utmost respect and sensitivity. This is a good lesson for anyone, professional and amateur alike, of what should be done in these circumstances. Thank You and Kudos Herbie first and foremost for your eagle eye and skill and tact. And thank you to the Cameraman and James for how they handled this situation. But the biggest Thank You goes to Mother Nature for blessing us with this wonderful sighting..... 💚♌️🐾

Are you serious right now? A den site? STOP WALKING ON FOOT YOU IDIOTS OR I WILL STOP DONATING. it freaks them out, changes everything and you could get a cub killed. They're isn't a "way" to do it. This should not be allowed.

Torry aka TNT what’s with the anger. These folks aren’t hurting nature, nor are they hurting the cubs.
If you don’t like watching a show like this, an alternative is to watch a hunting channel. I’ll never understand why folks are angry at people that study and educate people about nature. If there is something wrong with safarilive than I hope the haters just stay in their organic tents, only eat fruit from the ground and drink rain water.

Torry aka TNT from your perspective I guess. Should humans only live in sky scrapping condos and not venture outside. Humans can improve on reducing the impact on nature. In this situation though, Safari live helps connect people to the African wild, which helps build a community that wants to protect the Animals and the land in which they live. How should they accomplish their goal of learning, educating for the purpose of conservation of nature and survival of endangered species.

Hooray for SafariLive!! I'm so sorry to all my fellow safarians I haven't been on the drives lately. There has been a tragedy in my extended family and I have been otherwise busy. I'm so sorry, from the bottom of my heart and I really do hope to join you all again soon. Pray for yourselves, and each other. God bless.

These guides have many years experience in this type of approach. Humans and Lions have interacted for millennia, and contrary to Hollywood Films, Lions would rather warn you and let you go on your way , than wait and attack you!. The Lions aren't stressed by this type of interaction, they react instinctively to ANY threat in the same way. Experts at work, both 2 legged and 4 legged😊👣🐾🐾💐💙💚

No. Your wrong and you got 13 likes cause your a girl. Lions immediately tense up and go into curious mode...yeah if you run after them they might all scatter but they also are in large prides...its not safe and they're not experts, no one is. We stay in vehicles and everything is fine

I an so glad purple eyes is protective of her cubs but also knows to trust you two. If she had charged and was shot even with a tranquilizer it would mean she and the cubs would suffer. But I am also glad she was tracked down since it had been so long and we needed to know they were ok. Looking forward to meeting tjese two additions in a few months.
