On original hardware you could feather the option/side ships position button to get them behind the main ship. This made bosses a cakewalk, as the center gem could be hammered with 5x the damage.
The first Thunder Cross was released on PS2 under the Oretachi Geason collection, yet Hamster never saw fit to ask to release this sequel under that label. Of course the collections got for insane prices these days (a buddy of mine gave me the Haunted Castle one, tough as expected) so I couldn't and wouldn't try to buy it unless I find it cheap. The Oretachi games have several other games, MAME on a disc with rom and little bonus content.
This game runs on the same hardware as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game, but with a video system like that used in The Main Event, Thunder Cross, Gradius III, Crime Fighters, M.I.A.: Missing in Action, Quarth, S.P.Y.: Special Project Y, Aliens, and Punk Shot.
Good to see that the first one has been confirmed for the PS 4 by Through Hamsters ARCADE ARCHIVES fingers crossed that the second one will get released to
Konami should see fit to release the two Thunder Cross games in a collection for the PS3 and 360 before those systems expire. These two plus a ton of their back catalog that have never seen collection release. The DS and PS1 collections were nice but very bare bones. As for what I think about the Thunder Cross games, I am quite the fan of these 2, they remind me of Gradius with the 4 options that you can spread out or move in towards the ship.

"Flying fast across the clouds" reminds me of the first stage from Biometal, but the second stage in that game takes place in the desert, and the boss is not a rocket. I will look into this query and if I can remember to come back here, I will let you know of my findings.

It's called "Earth Defense Force" and the reason I wrote that comment is because the OST is very good. Probaly the song of the second stage would remember you Daft Punk. Considering only the first game was released by Hamster on the PS2, it's likely only the first game gets brought over again to the PS4.

Nope, not counterfeit, both games in this series are quite good.
