how about a challenge were you get to use only 1 type of attack and mon. So only fire mons and only fire damaging moves. That would be like a monotyp challenge. For that, I would help you in creating a "difficult" rom, where the trainers levels would be increased by 50%, so the elite 4 would be level 100 and strategy would be very important. But sadly, I can only grant up to pokemon Black/white.

Fire, Water and Grass all have absorbing abilities. That leaves Bug, Steel, Flying, Rock, Ice and Fairy. Some of those easily find a 4x resist, but the hardest part is the start. Your starter won't be useable. You'd need a Pokemon with the type and move early on.

I mean, Ice is probably my favorite type and I’ll freely admit that it’s garbage. Doesn’t mean I don’t love it. Ice Pokémon have some of my absolute favorite designs (Aurorus, Frosmoth, Kyurem, Weavile, Froslass, Alolan Vulpix) and just the thematic idea of ice as a whole make it one of my favorites (along with dark, ghost, and poison)

Considering there are people out there who spend their time doing nothing but team building the perfect teams and not considering people like Emvee who have the entire competitive scene in their palms, yeah not good enough. Emvee only loses when someone uses his teams against him because they are so good if that's any indication.
i think one of the most interesting overlooked things about this challenge is that the programmers of the game put in a route through the ice type gym that avoided all trainers i would have never imagined
When I first saw the video of that man, I just thought to myself, that I am not mad enough to put myself through this even just as a "bystander". And now, here I am, suffering from afar. Somebody crown this man, Arceus shivers in fear, when it fells his presence.
It legit took me 10 hours to beat it... im not kidding. I returned it as soon as i completed the pokedex, which was only about 15 hours of playtime later. What a pathetic game.
Primarina personally, i don‘t think i will buy the dlc, i played one competetive match and although i enjoyed it, it didn‘t hook me and i don‘t see any reason for me to spend that much time to get a different color version of a pokemon. Those things are not for everybody
It’s so funny during the hall of fame screen, where you see all of the Pokémon who endured through this tediously difficult challenge, and then bibarel is standing on the side just like “YEAH! I DID SOMETHING!”😂
Actually, the experience scaling was also changed in Gen V. In Gen IV and prior, you could be level 1 or 99 and you’d get the same experience regardless of the opponent you defeat 😊
In gen IV they hadn’t yet implemented the mechanic of exp being influenced by the participants’ levels, so this might be harder in Sw/Sh. Plus the daycare no longer levels your Pokémon for you so it’s gonna be a pretty difficult challenge. I can’t wait to see you try it 😉
smallant is definitely one of the absolute best at finding new creative ways to play games he likes. Also at long grindy challenge runs, but that should be obvious from this lol. If you haven't seen his super mario odyssey minimum captures videos you're missing out.

He's using the floatzel and torterra for the same reason that you sometimes see odd pokemon like Pachirisu or exeggutor in VGC- they fill the specific niche that he needs for a specific and unusual teams or circumstances.They're not "Bad" 100% of the time. It's just in 99% of circumstances and teams they're worse than something else, so you use the other thing instead. Of course they're still not the greatest, but since this is effectively a series of region-limited formats (the allowed region list expanding with every badge) they fill the role on the team he needs. You're still right that they're "bad", but it's nice to see that even bad pokemon have thier time to shine. Not that I really have to tell you, finding creative ways to use pokemon and sets is kinda what you're known for XD

For floatzol with aqua jet, gastrodon isn’t even immune to it because storm drain worked very differently in gen 4. It only brought in water type attacks. It doesn’t have immunity or raise its special attack stat.
Smallant has other good pokemon challenges too! I would love to see you react to some of the other ones as well, I was personally a big fan of the one where he beats black with 0 xp gains!

Small correction: They only started scaling how many exp points you get in proportion to the level difference between you and your foe in later games, at this point you still got the same amount of exp regardless of level difference.
13:24 at this point, I’d scrap the no hits and just catch the buizel. Buizel is a cool looking Pokémon as it is, and shinies are something I rarely got, so I definitely would have just taken the buizel, transferred it, then started over. I miss the underground too.

Smallant’s challenge runs are amazing. Some of the Breath of the Wild ones are absolutely insane.
