  • Directional over current relay or directional over current protection is very much essential for systems having parallel path, sources at both end and ring system. Non directional protection causes loss of the entire source in the event of a fault. Directional protection can prevent that and isolate the exact faulty circuit.

    Hi! I have a question in the first case of fault with directional relay, why CB with 51 relay on the lower line will not trip?

      Bus bar differential relay will operate faster than oc relay, also if bb diff operates you can be endured that the fault has occurred inside the bus bar zone.... Which basically selectively as @Naren Chauhan mentioned
