How is this still getting views? (Edit: this deck is no longer in use and is kept as backup, a Sony mds sd1 has taken its place and i am working on a new set of videos for 2023)
Thanks, if your using a cd player, if possible you could use a standard optical cable or coax, if youre using a cassette deck or reel to reel you use the standard red and white phono cable, or aux to rca cable if your using a walkman.
I've got the MDS-JE330 and an MZ-R50. MD's are really cool. I don't really NEED to record anything to MD, but it's just fun having music on little discs. I don't know why.
This was quite an old video, my current machine is an mds-sd1 which is half size but double the length, I hope to update this video demonstrating the use of an mz-r37 and the mds-sd1 at some point. Currently have a few red manor releases on minidisc arriving this week.
When you’re recording how do you record the next track when you recording on vinyl? Do you just click the next song button you see I am lazy I will just leave it unattended
On my MDS-JE520, while recording an LP, instead of starting and stopping, I just press the RECORD button to insert a new track marker and let it continue. Not sure about the deck in the video...but I would assume, since it's a Sony, it would work the same way.
You can still buy a new minidisc deck fron teac and tascam but it is a hell of a lot of money, sony still make the discs but only 80 minute basics. Decks and discs can be found on ebay and Facebook for a decent price but you need to read the description as im now on my third recorder and the one in the video as stopped reading and recording and ejecting properly. If you're looking for a recorder i would look for the recorders that use a plastic belt driven mechanism as the metal ones are known to fail more often these were made from the mid 90s to the early 2000s. A decently priced and respectable machine is the sony mds sd1 which was part of a compact hifi system but works fine on its own.
Nice Machine, Not All CDs Will Correctly Record To A MiniDisc Due To Some Gaps Between Tracks, Some CDs Also Have Cross Fade Which Makes It Hard To Record Tracks, Some CD Players Have A Feature Called Auto Space, This Means That The CD Player Will Automatically Place 3 Seconds Of Silence For Your Recorder To Detect The Gaps, Pretty Neat Feature, Also Why Are You Wearing Gloves?
I am aware of the track gap issue and will be fixed on the updated version of this which is a work in process which will cover using both a newer early 2000s deck and a early 90s portable (mz-r37) also the gloves thing was to with grip issues as for some reason it was still hot enough to make my hands sweat like mad losing grip of the disc and controls but it didn't really work as seen at the end as I still launched the disc out of my hand. The update video will use my new machine with is a Sony mds sd1 from around 1998 to the very early 2000s. Kindest regards- Idontsmile6666
I bought a few Sony MDS-JB930 and 940 with 500 blanks to record. I like the format.
I have the 920 and the 740
Atrac 4.5 & type S both are amazing

Nice video, thanks. Can you tell me what cables and connections I need to record from a tape machine or a CD player. Regards

How i usually do this is just press the play pause button twice as it stops the current recording and starts the recording on the next track

Nice tutorial!
are you able to record an entire album with it automatically assigning every song as a separate track?
if you're using the optical input yes and it is fully automatic. Otherwhise you need to set it up manually.
Hi, does it record MDLP ?
No unfortunately, I'm finding it hard to find a mdlp device at the moment.
ive definitely had enough of made in china too!!
