Owning such pieces is no risk. Buying (from china)and reselling as he was/is doing breaks intellectual property rights and is a sueable offense. More of a seller issue than customer. Unlike drugs for example the product itself is not illegal, it is the manufacture of a product that abuses the intellectual property rights of the original creator that is the problem. Because you are then making money off of their ideas that they own which is effectively costing them money they could/should be earning. China does not respect these laws from other countries which is why it is a thing with chinese made products.

Yup plus you can mirror your phone and buy blue tooth controllers i use to sell sd cards or pull mine out doenload an emulator then upload my sd card with the games i downloade from the internet on to someone elses phone or device...
you can but for a decent experience you have to buy a controller that probably isn't much smaller or cheaper than one of these retro consoles. but i think hacked PSP or DS might offer the best experience, you get good controls and it doesn't drain power away from your phone.

Nintendo own the rights for those titles, have produced many games themselves and have coupled with quality functional hardware devices since the late 80s. So they are held in a much higher esteem than Soulja Boy. Without Nintendo, Soulja boy wouldn't even have a device to sell, let alone half of it's game library. Mini Retro Nintendos are still a bullshit product though.

The reason that these pre-loaded consoles are sold over here is because many of the companies selling them don't have corporate presence outside of China. If you've ever tried to sue a Chinese company over IP from outside of China, you may as well try to sue Unicorns. Nintendo of America is a sue-happy company, they've sued over people showing gameplay from their system online. SB is basically poking Ninty and begging them to sue.
It's more of the fact that copyright laws are different in China not that there's no corporate presence. Nintendo of America are some litigious bastards but they have copyrights and licenses for these games.

That's the biggest chunk of the market. We may not be able to sue Anbernic, but not only can SB get sued, but the companies can completely bar the sale of such consoles in the respective countries, effectively starving Anbernic and SB for cash, which will kill the console line.
