Hi Leif, how's it going. I'm 69 and I've been trout and salmon fishing since I was a little boy, my dad, God rest his soul was a huge fishing fanatic and loved every minute of it. I've been caught up working too much and haven't fished much since he died in 2006. You've motivated me to get back into fishing, I live in Seattle and now I'm planning to travel to eastern Washington where my dad took my brother on many fishing trips, boy do I miss those times. My brother and my dad are gone so I'm going to do your solo fishing trips into the hills and mountains where you've been fishing. I'm getting all equipped and ready for next summer, I may even see you out there. Thank you Leif for getting me motivated again and back into fishing, your positive attitude and fun loving nature is a breath of fresh air in contrast to all that's going on today. When I was a kid in the 50's my dad had a cabin built on Lake Ki, he was a lawyer/stockbroker and drover into Seattle every day and drove back to the cabin at night, we also had a home in seattle, the cabin was our summer getaway, anyway, we had a big dock, two aluminum boats and we'd fish and catch crawdads all day long. Let me tell ya Leif, the crawdads we were catching off the dock in the late 50's and early 60's were huge, honestly they were 5 time larger and more than what you're catching. So everyday we'd let down fishing lines with a piece of a hot dog down into the lake off the dock, we could see probably 20 or more crawdads alongside our dock, the lake had tons of them, anyway, we'd catch 20 a day and put them into a huge aluminum pot filled with lake water, at the end of the day, we'd let them go and catch them again the next day. One day when we had the pot filled up my mom says don't let the crawdads go today, we're going to put the pot on the campfire and boil them to eat. I was horrified that there were going to eat my pets! They offered me some to eat and I said no way! I understand they were delicious, tasted very similar to lobster. We continued to catch them but I never forgot my parents eating them..hahaha. Sorry for being so long winded, great video, thank you for the temporary escape from concrete hell in Seattle. God bless you my friend and stay safe, I love your videos.
Aw, that's awesome to read Peter, Sounds like you had an awesome childhood..... I am 61 and looking forward to fishing again once my SS checks kick in this winter. Lol, I'll have my own spending money again as I haven't been able to work for 8 years.. Anyway, I haven't fished in decades. Too busy raising my kids then just life.. Work and other hobbies... . I live in Arizona and there isn't much fishing near where we live. Now I have grand kids that live near by and I want to teach them to fish. 1 is 10 and 8 year old twins. They have never been camping or fishing. So I am going to make it happen. Their Dad is too busy just as I was when I was raising him and his brothers... I am planning a road trip to Oregon next month with their Dad .( I am coming along to help with the kids. and navigate ) We are going to the Lincoln City area to see family and I hope to get the kids out on some lakes and streams. Ive been watching many YT videos to learn what tackle and bait to use. I wish I could afford a guide! ... Stay Safe, both of you!
Hi, Leif. Don't know if anybody has suggested this, but for crayfish (crawdads), if you open the tail "fan", and pinch, twist, and pull the MIDDLE "fin", the intestinte (poop veion) comes out cleanly, and with very little effort. Just a tip I learned!
My 13 year old son and I have been bonding a lot through fishing lately. We also love watching your videos for inspiration. You really do impact people’s lives with the videos you make. Thank you. 🎣 on baby!
My family loves watching you do your thing my man!! Also my mother is retired Military, she said that you didn't put enough water in the MRE. The cooking comes from it boiling, not the packet inside. Without the right amount water it won't activate 😅. Keep up the great work my friend!!
Every time I see one of your videos, it makes me happy, I work every day, and when I get a chance to sit down and watch one of your videos, I feel like I’m right there with you fishing and living life to the fullest. Thank you! ❤
@@NWFishingSecrets I hope so too, that’s the main reason I started watching your Channel, I love going fishing. One of these days I hope I can have an adventure like yours. :)
As always, thank you for taking us along on another adventure!👊🏻 they are always so inspiring and provide a new appreciation for the outdoors. Fish on baby!🎣
It's been such a blessing to find your channel. I'm shooting for hitchhiking and backpacking throughout the summer, and you constantly remind me that nothing is impossible with a little bit of optimism. Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm for nature, and never stop being you!
You're the only TH-camr I watch that I put the video in Theatre mode. I hope you know your cinematography efforts don't go unnoticed. Much love my friend
Going through a tough time, seeing this made me smile! Thanks for all these videos. It made my love for nature and being outside grow, let alone fishing too! Started watching right before Covid and been tuned in since. Watched almost everyone video too, much love ❤️
I’m a start commenting on every video to stuff your trout with Pineneedles, or spruce, or fir needles in the gut cavity. Gives it a nice lemony smoky flavor
Watching how well you handle and make the most out of All the little things that go wrong really makes me feel like I should be more grateful and complain less about pretty much life in general. We all tryna make the most of the time we have and should appreciate all the little blessings we get to enjoy. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us. Can’t wait for the Germany videos!

Definitely one of the best videos on your channel. Moments like catching a crawdad on a bullet lure or netting six of them are such genuine happiness it can't help but to be infectious. Thank you for sharing your happiness with us. ❤
As an Arab follower from Jordan, I am new to you, and this is the second video I have watched, and I very much enjoyed your method and style, and every time I see nature around you, I am shocked to the point that I want to escape from the city and the sounds of cars and everything around me. I love you, keep going and create better content as usual, may God protect you❤
hey i just want to say. this is what life is about, fishing exploring the world, seeing what god has created. You wont regret spending your days doing this
I love this guys commentary - he makes me smile all the time, with his infectious laugh and love for fishing.. I been following now for 2 plus years and every vid has been a pleasure to watch and great fun.. Keep it up, please don't stop!!
I have a big scar on my left thumb, around a DM, that I got from sharpening wood in my backyard as a 13-year-old. The knife I used was also a very similar Swiss knife in red that I still have to this day and actually never washed to keep as a memory. I know it might sound odd but it's a very precious thing to me that I would not trade for anything in this world. I'm proud of my scar because it reminds me of my love of being a part of nature. Thank you for reminding me of my childhood and all the precious time I've spent outdoors and will now and in the future. Much love!
Thank you Leif so much for the new episode! You make my day every time! I so wish I could go with you on an adventure! Hope you enjoyed Germany fish on baby!

So happy you finally came up with another one of your masterpieces! The nature❤, foraging, the fishing especially the beautiful scenery I would make it so amazing and enjoyable thank you! Even seeing your ⛺️
As one of your German viewers I am really looking forward to seeing the Episode from your Hometown (somewhere in the Schwarzwald, I guess?)! All the best from Frankfurt!
It’s always a score to find one of your old knives! Like an old friend, lots of good memories with each of them!! Love your vid as always! Fish on baby!! Be safe and God speed!
Hey Leif, there should be a fill line on the bag of the heater for the water. Fill to the line before putting the entree into the pouch. Set the heater against something so it leans at about a 30 degree angle. It’ll work. Fellow PNW guy here and your videos are motivating me to start finding lakes to fish in again. Keep it up
if you don't know the amount of hapiness i get out of eating my eggs with danish sea salt from Læsø and drinking my morning coffee watching your videos are immense. Thank you very much for taking us with you on your adventures. As we say in danish "Knæk og Bræk" meaning Good luck fishing :)
Awesome way to end the video and that's why I keep coming back!!!! We need more families as tight as you guys in the US. Especially with all the crap happening these days because of politicians with their greed n control. I plan to hunt one day. I started getting back into fishing, had some good memories fishing with my dad and want to do the same now that I'm a father. As well as learning to hunt and one day take my kids when they're old enough(so I got some time to learn😅). Keep making the awesome content and spreading all the positive messages! The world needs it! Stayed blessed 🙏!
😂 I feel asleep to the video, not because I didn't like it, but because I was tired and basically was a fall asleep video 😂👍, I'll be back another time, I rewatch videos all the time, good morning

Thank you for the new video. We all miss you Leif. Your videos bring do much joy to a hard world
Thank you so much brother, your video makes me very happy, your smile and gestures, the joy in your heart when you see me traveling in the forest🥰🥰😊
Really commendable that you pick up garbage on your trips. My husband and I really enjoy your videos. Thanks
😂 I feel asleep to the video, not because I didn't like it, but because I was tired and basically was a fall asleep video 😂👍, I'll be back another time, I rewatch videos all the time, good morning
About time. I’ve been checking for new episode everyday last month now
