I know withdrawals come from 'settled cash'. I mean, will my profits (when they hopefully come) automatically go to my 'settled cash' for me to withdraw?

    Proceeds: $956,527.29

    Here's my question and I may just be missing something but when does the risk come into play?
    What's stopping me from buying stocks and just waiting until I get the price I want even if that means holding the stock for longer than expected. I know there's a potential that the stock could just continue to fall but we all know the stock market is full of ups and downs so what's stopping people from waiting for that number they want?

  • @strobe9
    @strobe9 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    unrealized = the gain / loss of an OPEN position in "paper"
    realized = the gain / loss of a CLOSED position that is now booked to the account
    the important thing to understand is that an unrealized loss although not realized still represents actual RISK and a loss in VALUE and is the reason why margin calls exist.
    prudent risk management involves limiting unrealized losses based on the expected value (EV) of your investment program.
    enduring a high degree of heat (unrealized loss) in a position relative to the realized gain may be justifiable if the win rate yields a net positive EV over time but understand that continually increasing positions in the face of an unrealized loss is a type of martingale strategy and has been shown to yield an EV approaching 0.

Obviously the algorithm had a bad run but my traders have turned off my privileges so I cannot see the the P/L in the unrealized category 🤔 something isn’t right, they are telling me not to ask technical questions 😂 something dodgy is happening
