@@lushswiat-powell8508 Hey, so you should definitely keep the cap on while washing your hair so that the colour you'll apply will only be on your highlights.
Brad should try this with two wigs and do this with a box bleach kit and the other wig with whatever bleach he wants to do with but with cap as well and see which one has the best results- VIDEO IDEA 💡

My mom and I were just talking about how she used to give me cap highlights growing up!! Specifically how much she HATED it, how loooong it took, but it always turned out really nice...and healthy! I have curly hair even curlier back when I was younger...super long and thick to boot! It would be an all day process and I’m surprised we both made it through each time w/o a causality. Honestly, I preferred the way my hair looked and felt when she did it vs any salon that’s ever highlighted my hair!
I helped my mom with her cap highlights from the time I was a kid until my mid twenties when she quit highlighting her hair, and I just have to say: just because Brad doesn’t understand the cap doesn’t mean someone who has learned can’t tell where the hair comes from and make it really nice. He’s always shocked when cap videos turn out well and I’m like “it’s cause the cap makes it easier to do it on yourself!” No need for the cap in salon. But it makes it so much easier to get a certain style of highlight at home without hot roots, and you actually can control where the hair comes from and it looks super nice. Also, THE CAP PREVENTS HOT ROOTS. Pretty sure that’s the main purpose of using a cap. Rant over, love watching Brads videos. He just annoys me when he trashed something because he doesn’t understand it.
You have no idea how excited this made me!! I was literally shaking when someone had commented on my video and I'm glad I got the Brad Mondo approval 😂 If you ever wanted to work on my hair then have at it 😂
I will forever love these openings. "You look hot!" Me: just woke up, bedhead everywhere, not even in my cute pjs today. "Thanks for the lie, I needed that." 😂😂😂
Brad is so nice to literally everyone and that’s why I love him so much as a TH-camd. You could literally bleach your hair until your bald and he’d be like wow bald legend we love you and I live for it. ❤️
I'm 13 and I did this on my mom. I automatically remembered what you said about bleaching and I ended up doing it for her. It turned out really well! We didn't bleach it until it was blond but a light brown so it looked natural.
I think it's great when people show what their experience of an attempt was like, as long as they don't present themselves as an authority on the subject.
Honestly I absolutely love Brad. He’s so damn funny. And he’s never mean about anyone, he shows you can critique whilst still being kind. So I’m glad he’s what so many people are watching. He cracks me the hell up.
Everytime xD but why is it that I always end up watching Brads Videos whenever I do a bad bad box dye and be like: THIS never happens to me hahaahaaa!! (Yeah dumbass me..) I used Honey Blonde on Allready Colored but grown out Red Hair so i looked like a f**cking Sunset!!! XDDDD good thing i was on vacation so i had plenty of time to just dye it a like orange-red wich covered it and locked good actually xD
splattercombo my mom used to do this for me when I was younger and my 3b/3c ass was squirming and sobbing every time she pulled my tangled ass hair through those holes 😭😭😭
I did that for my friend. She had medium warm brown hair and spent $80 for red highlights at empire and you couldn't see them at all. I used the frosting cap, bleached, washed, then put an 8rn in and when I finished drying/styling it, it looked absolutely amazing. She had so much dimension and you could actually see the red, which really brought out all that warmth. I wish I had gotten a picture... two days later she asked me to color her whole head in the red because she liked it so much. It was such a pain trying to avoid what I had already colored.
Brad , she is very creative , I have watched her many times. She learns from her mistakes and has done each time better. Also I know because I do my own hair .
Oh, I used to be in the same boat as you. I wanted super short hair, but I had verrrrry long hair. I was too scared that hairstylists would mess it up and I'd look ridiculous because I wouldn't be able to instantly grow it back. Then, one day I woke up and didn't give a shit. I went from hair that was down to my hips to an undercut and I don't regret it one bit. Yeah, I know hair is a precious thing that you should take care of, but my recommendation to you is to stop worrying about what could happen and go for it. If it goes bad, oh well. Lesson learned. But if you don't try it at all you might regret it. Live your extra life, hun!
I've been highlighting and/or coloring my hair successfully since the '90s. I've received lots of compliments, and surprised reactions when I say I do it myself. RESPONDING TO SOME OF THE QUESTIONS IN THE VIDEO: (1). I actually rinse out and re-use a cap several times before tossing it. They last quite a while (even with re-use)....and the product does not seep through the holes excessively if you don't "goop" it on excessively in one spot. (2) Hair high-lighting caps are typically made of TWO LAYERS of plastic. (a thin layer of plastic closest to your head.....and a bit tougher layer on top of that layer). Some have a grid of circles printed on top to help with placement and selection of strands....but not all do. I find it easiest if I go over the entire cap before I use it and punch through all the holes with my crochet hook before using the cap. Then I put it on my head: and it is much easier (and MUCH more comfortable....no stabbing my scalp....ouch!!) to select and pull the strands through than if you were breaking through two layers of plastic while it is on your head. (3) You don't have to use just the hook that comes with the kit. You can buy other crochet hooks and use them as well: particularly if you want a hook that will pick up more hair. (4). For placement of highlighted strands: once you have the cap "pre-punched".....comb all straight back hair back and toward the nape of your neck. I sometimes will use a low ponytail while I'm putting on the cap so the hair remains perfectly placed while the cap goes on....then I simply slide the ponytail elastic off before I begin pulling strands through the cap. Make sure you have placed the holes near the hairline in the front (makes it easier to select strands that you want to make much lighter near your face) and tie that chin strap securely. (5). To get the right amount of space between each strand you are pulling: the fact that you have "pre-punched" the cap before using it is a BIG help. Start at the top of your head and near the face/hairline first, and continue to pull strands down and back until completed. THE PRE-PUNCHED HOLES ARE A BIG HELP IN SELECTING HOW CLOSE TO PULL STRANDS!!! YOU CAN FEEL THE HOLES WITH YOUR FINGERS AND DECIDE HOW FAR APART TO PULL STRANDS. I tend to put the strands closer near the front and around the hairline.....and further apart as I work down and back. You can tell how far apart to place the strands: one, two, or three finger size spaces between the holes you are going to pull strands through.......this way you get to control spacing of strands just by feeling punched holes as you go along.....and you get to choose the dimension and variation of color intensity in different parts of your head. (6). Next put the mixed color and/or bleaching solution uniformly all over the cap and pulled strands. Don't "goop" it on excessively in any one spot......do all the pulled strands at once. Next: put more product on the strands you want to be lighter than the rest (like around the hairline)......and maybe a bit more product on the lower third of the strands to the ends (to get more of an "ombre" look as well). Put all strands carefully up on the cap, and cover with a plastic bag (an old shopping bag will do) to retain the heat from your head to help the lightening process along. (7). If you feel you need more heat to help the lightening process more: keep the bag on while you direct your hairdryer to the areas you want to lighten further. DO NOT LET YOUR HAIR AND SCALP GET TOO HOT!!! THE BAG NOT ONLY RETAINS THE HEAT....BUT IT ALSO KEEPS THE STRANDS FROM DRYING OUT AS YOU USE THE HAIR DRYER. (8). Make sure to be patient, and allow enough time for the strands to lighten sufficiently.....if you rush, you will not achieve a satisfactory lightening and/or (depending on how dark your hair is) you might get an "orange"/brassy result. Make a note of how long to time keep the product on to achieve the "color lift" you want, but not cause lower strands to become over-bleached and damaged. USE A TIMER AND CHECK THE STRANDS EVERY FIVE MINUTES. (9) Get in the shower and rinse all the product off of your hair with the CAP STILL ON!!! (BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET ANY PRODUCT IN YOUR EYES!!) This will help greatly in removing the cap off of your hair without causing excessive pulling on the strands......and this is also the reason to comb all of your hair down and back before you put the cap on: it helps a LOT in removing the cap after you have rinsed all the product off. (10). After the cap is off.....continue to rinse and/or apply just a small amount of mild shampoo to get all of the product out of the hair. Depending on what you used to lighten you hair: this may not be necessary. RINSE WELL AND APPLY A GOOD CONDITIONER AND LET IT SET FOR A WHILE BEFORE RINSING. (11). I usually cut my hair in long layers AFTER I have colored or highlighted it. Always try to time the processing so that your hair does not become excessively damaged......BUT If the ends do get a bit damaged during the processing: you will be cutting them off anyway. Hope this helps.....and it gets a bit easier each time you do this.
Katie Lynch gdhddgshfd it’s called lowlights and they can make your hair look super pretty and give it dimension but like highlights it’s only supposed to be a few shades difference so like depending on ops exact shade a medium brown or auburn would be the better choice

He’s always shocked when cap videos turn out well and I’m like “it’s cause the cap makes it easier to do it on yourself!”
No need for the cap in salon.
I was literally shaking when someone had commented on my video and I'm glad I got the Brad Mondo approval 😂 If you ever wanted to work on my hair then have at it 😂
Every time he calls me beautiful I smile 😊
I will forever love these openings. "You look hot!" Me: just woke up, bedhead everywhere, not even in my cute pjs today. "Thanks for the lie, I needed that." 😂😂😂
Same! I'm sick and literally just woke up and I started laughing at the intro cause I'm not hot rn
Brad: “you look hot”
Me, mouth filled with microwave mashed potatoes: 🥰
Dakota Zimmermann yes yes me too but with chickpeas and rice
Oh my God, that's the funniest thing ever!
Lol thats hilarious
🤣🤣🤣
I’m an apprentice hairdresser and we used the cap at college, I love the results when done properly.
Congrats for taking a hairdressers advice and not making your mom bald 😂👍
@@louisemarsden1766 😂thank you!
@@sophism_art5926 😊😊
I find it HILARIOUS when people who have no fffff clue what they’re doing making tutorial style videos giving other people advice 😂
I think it's great when people show what their experience of an attempt was like, as long as they don't present themselves as an authority on the subject.
But she looks great and it didn’t cost her $350.
Brad calling everyone beautiful in the beginning of each video has seriously improved my mood each time I've watched one of his videos 🥰❤
Drinking game: Take a shot at every “Color doesn’t lift color”. Aaaaaand...go!
Me: *dies*
Brb running to the store because brad gave the approval 🏃🏽♀️
Honestly I absolutely love Brad. He’s so damn funny. And he’s never mean about anyone, he shows you can critique whilst still being kind. So I’m glad he’s what so many people are watching. He cracks me the hell up.
Who else wants to see Brad create dimensional brown hair color on a mannequin head?
None of your business yessssss
Yessssss, I prefer myself brunette because I feel like blonde washes me out. There’s definitely fun ways to do brunette
Yes, fam. Make it a ting. Gets my backin from sun up, til sun down, ya feel me?
Yeeeesss
@@The_Invisible_Self what the hell
brad: don’t use box dye
me, sitting and processing box dye in my hair: yes absolutely never EVER will box dye touch this hair

I used Honey Blonde on Allready Colored but grown out Red Hair so i looked like a f**cking Sunset!!! I’m usually sitting down for my 15th meal of the day when he tells me how snatched I look 😂
Same
me with curly hair: screaming in panic every time someone tries to crochet their hair through those tiny holes
splattercombo my mom used to do this for me when I was younger and my 3b/3c ass was squirming and sobbing every time she pulled my tangled ass hair through those holes 😭😭😭
splattercombo same sis
Yep same
Just straighten it before hand
I had it done once and it was hours of them trying to pull my hair through and it tangling doesn’t badly. It was so painful and it turned out shitty.
"F*cking Orange" is in the color spectrum. 😁 Love Brad's dramatic description for "not blonde enough".
Brad: “I would make you so blonde! You would step out of that salon and say ‘I am the sunlight, the sunlight is me’”
Me: woah 😳
I read that as he said it lol😂
“put down the bleach brittney” LMFAO
🤣🤣🤣
How would it look with like an unnatural color, like purple or blue? I kinda wanna see it
Ooo maybe I’ll try this.
I did it with purple and it turned out alright
Bree_999 it’s actually a great way to do fun colours because you don’t get any of 5he colour on the rest of your hair
I have blue hair and now I kinda wanna see too hehe
I did that for my friend. She had medium warm brown hair and spent $80 for red highlights at empire and you couldn't see them at all. I used the frosting cap, bleached, washed, then put an 8rn in and when I finished drying/styling it, it looked absolutely amazing. She had so much dimension and you could actually see the red, which really brought out all that warmth. I wish I had gotten a picture... two days later she asked me to color her whole head in the red because she liked it so much. It was such a pain trying to avoid what I had already colored.
Me: stoned af eating cookies in my pj’s
Brad: hey beautiful!
Exactly the same except a chocolate bar :)
Same but I'm stoned and tipsy eating McDonald's 😭😭😩
Juliet Blake me: just woke up yawning
Brad: hey beautiful you look so hot
Me:😴thank you
Same 😂
i felt this a little too hard
I don’t miss this white hair at all. What a glow up you’ve had brad
My mom used to be a hairdresser, and I remember when I was like 4-5 years old I always found watching her doing cap-highlights really satisfying.
Everytime brad says “hi beautiful” he just makes my day and my heart melt, like I need it, thx so much, love you brad💖😍
Brad: you look hot
Me: *charcoal facemask on with a glass of pepsi and wet hair* lol much appreciate
Brad , she is very creative , I have watched her many times. She learns from her mistakes and has done each time better. Also I know because I do my own hair .
When Brad calls you beautiful and hot and you are dying with a nasty cold he just makes my day ❤️

The second girl did exactly what I want a hairstylist to do to my hair but I am just too scared they are gonna ruin it 😭😭😭
Oh, I used to be in the same boat as you.
I chopped 24 inches the other day 🤙

I LOVE THE WAY HE COMPLIMENTS ME! Makes me feel so confident.
I've been highlighting and/or coloring my hair successfully since the '90s. I've received lots of compliments, and surprised reactions when I say I do it myself.
RESPONDING TO SOME OF THE QUESTIONS IN THE VIDEO:
During my emo days my mom poked holes in a shower cap and used dollar store black hair dye on my ginger hair. Did not look good.
NO 💀💀 i want to see that lmao
You poor thing.. why do mothers always have an itch to mess with their children's hair!? Lol
Wait she gave your ginger hair black highlights? She gave it dark lights? What?
Katie Lynch gdhddgshfd it’s called lowlights and they can make your hair look super pretty and give it dimension but like highlights it’s only supposed to be a few shades difference so like depending on ops exact shade a medium brown or auburn would be the better choice
'during my emo days' man you still seem pretty emo to me
i was having a TERRIBLE day and I clicked on this video and hear “hello beautiful” and you’ve made my day
I actually love the start of every video and how you make us all feel good about ourselves, keep doing what your doing, much love 💕💕
