as far as the language DMV gives the test to ANYONE, they use a foreign language translation chart that also uses HAND SIGNALS and the driver acknowledges that he or she understands the basic directions
My road test is on Dec 17, I tell myself not to be nervous and just think of the DMV examiner as someone I am driving home and he/she is giving me directions to where he/she lives to try to ease up. But I am still nervous, can't help it just knowing the fact that it is a test.
Exactly, and also don't stress yourself out too much about absolutely having to pass, otherwise you will be more nervous than you need to be. Good luck and let me know how you do. 😀👍
@@LauraTheDrivingCoach I just got home from my road test, and I PASSED!!! Not to brag or anything but out of the 4 students(including me), only I passed today. The girl who went before me, she had so much mistakes that when she opened the envelope, she had to unfold the receipt 3-4 times. And she had a whole list of 5's 10's and 15's. The other 2, wasn't too bad but had they not made another mistake, they could've passed with bare minimum. I got 25 points though. Leaving curb: 5 points for fails to signal Parking, backing & U turns: 10 points for fails to adequately observe/use caution Driving in traffic: 10 for poor judgement in traffic. The first and second one, I did forget to signal due to nervousness. As soon as the examiner got in the door and told me to start driving whenever, right after like 5 blocks down, she told me to make a left and do a parallel park next to a red SUV, I think I may have gotten a little bit close and I only looked at the mirror and didn't turn my head back to check blind spot. So I think that's why I got 10 for that. The back wheel also did touch the curb, I'm not sure if the examiner noticed or not, but I immediately fixed it and pretended like nothing happened. I think the poor judgement in traffic is because I wasn't being obvious when looking at mirrors. That's the only thing I could think of, because I stopped on every red light and stop sign, I stopped and went first on all way stop signs, I yielded to 3 pedestrians who suddenly walked out in front of us when the lights turned green, and everything else I did fine.
Yes, but you really shouldn't do that for the all way stop sign. It could be looked at as impeding traffic, there would have to be a reason for stopping twice at those.
Yes, when you are pulling up to the car to parallel park, you must use your right signal. Also, when pulling over for the u-turn you must signal and when pulling out to start the u-turn you must also signal. Basically, anytime you are pulling over or pulling out you must always signal.
@@LauraTheDrivingCoach Okay thanks, I have my road test in 2 weeks, kind of nervous but I've practiced everything (parralel parking, k turns, and just driving on normal roads). While taking the road test, I paralleled in one shot. No excess maneuvers. The person told me I’m not allowed to move up after reversing. Isn’t driving after backing into the spot necessary?
It’s just the way driving tests are conducted. Another example is a yellow light being considered a red light in your driving test when in reality you can go through.

Great advice, I'm the founder of the TDS Academy, tactical driver safety academy. I'm a former champion motocross racer, AMG Driving Academy trained future auto racer, lifelong athlete and motorsport historian. I work for all large New York auto school and am I personal driving coach. After almost crashing an AMG E55 (a big German sedan that THINKS it's a Corvette ) TWICE in the same week on the Saw Mill Parkway in lower NY I realized that even with all my athletic coordination, visual acuity, lightning reflexes, and all my motorsport athleticism, I DIDN'T KNOW what I didn't know. 😲🧐🥺 95 mph twice in the exact same corner in the same week. News Flash: I was NOT the driver I thought I was, and almost getting killed reached that point home. Most of us are NOT as good as we THINK we are, we just haven't needed faced with a situation that challenged our knowledge and ability... yet. After spending THOUSANDS of dollars and countless hours lapping on auto race tracks I realized MOST DRIVERS TODAY, even as careful as this lady in the video is, they DON'T KNOW what my Pro race driver coaches know... how COULD they if they didn't go to racing school. 🧐🏁😎 But the critical mass moment for me was when the 15 year old daughter, Alyse, of MY COACH, Kevin Krauss, was killed as a passenger in a fatal crash I've been in a mission that no one else does the same thing. See, the 22 year old driver made the exact same mistake that famous golfer made that almost killed HIM ... ....JAMMING on the brakes while IN a hard turn. NEVER EVER EVER EVER DO THAT, brake while the car is moving in a STRAIGHT LINE, then turn into the entry of the turn. If you are already braking in a straight line you can continue to brake as you enter the turn long enough to bring the car to a corrected speed without upsetting the balance. Why: Street cars are NOT RACE CARS, they do not like SUDDEN inputs and SUDDEN corrections. Race cars have 1 inch of STIFF suspension travel and they DON'T lean from side to side before they change positions like a street car. Sudden movements are not for even a Ferrari or a Porsche because while they are much more active and capable than a Nissan or Honda, they are STILL STREET CARS. The race car versions of Ferraris and Porsches are HEAVILY MODIFIED versions of the street car. On a track with Pro drivers hustling both, the street Ferrari would CRASH trying to keep up with the race Ferrari.😲😟😲 I hope I've made myself VERY clear. Now having said all of that, not sure why I stumbled onto this very good video, but I must tell you THIS LADY IS 1000% CORRECT!!!! Take what she says as Gospel. You WILL FAIL if you screw up the things she told you. AFTER you get your license, or are almost ready and love in the Metro NY/NJ/CT area and would like a private driver coaching session, then do the work and find me.... www.linkedin.com/posts/michael-james-b094b75_thealysefoundation-kevinkrauss-redarrowracingteam-activity-6871580831496982528-xaoP
New Rochelle's local speed limit is 30mph, but the road test site is in a somewhat narrow and calm neighborhood. Most of the time I see cars driving at around 20mph, including a bunch of the driving school students. There's no posted speed limit in the area and I feel as if 30 is too fast for the area but the 'normal' speeds probably would be considered too slow? What should I do?
@@missaverywade Failed my first time with 40 points and passed my second test with 20. I think it just comes down to luck. Practice in the area 30 minutes before your test if you can to get rid of some of the anxiety. There’s a ‘Do Not Block Driveway’ sign on Sickles Avenue right before the light that I didn’t see. Ended up costing me 10 points I think. Apparently that sign gets a lot of people. Also make sure to use your turn signal for every movement you make (exiting the start area, 3pt turn, parallel park) and check you blind spots in a really obvious manner. I got 10 points off both of those somehow.
I was going to do my second stop and the road test instructor told me it’s clear why am I creeping up. And I knew in my head just incase to creep up but he forced me to go forward and then failed me and said poor judgement. So not all instructors follow this rule.

After spending THOUSANDS of dollars and countless hours lapping on auto race tracks I realized MOST DRIVERS TODAY, even as careful as this lady in the video is, they DON'T KNOW what my Pro race driver coaches know... how COULD they if they didn't go to racing school. 🧐🏁😎
But the critical mass moment for me was when the 15 year old daughter, Alyse, of MY COACH, Kevin Krauss, was killed as a passenger in a fatal crash I've been in a mission that no one else does the same thing.

How did it go? Taking my test in new Rochelle today 😬
