Taking shoes/crampons ‘just in case’ you need to hike to the snow and ice is next level preparedness! I’ve done a 3km hike up the side of a hill to the snow line in order to recover a quad but came back empty handed. So glad you were successful 😊

When i saw the crash i was sure that it was an issue with one front motor , luckily you got it back, thanks for sharing.

Looks like the front right just gave out mid-flight, by the looks of the way the drone front flipped.

@@RyanStonedonCanadianGaming yea that’s the whole reason I came to the comments, cause I saw that too, i was thinking the same thing. But I want to see if anyone new what happened exactly cause all in all that shouldn’t have happened, what a shame that was awesome though! I would be checking the logs on that one and Make sure that just the motor was the problem. Cause that happening “to me anyways” is a big deal. I fly around extreme sports events tracks cars dirtbikes other aircrafts some times many of us do actually. I need to know my gear can handle everything I throw at it or people can get hurt and it being a malfunction and not pilot error that’s a big deal that means it can be addressed and it can be fixed to help from preventing again in the future.

-Or was its failsafe set to drop after FS stage 2? I haven't personally experience a motor failure. I want to know: if one motor fails, do the rest motors automatically stop and drop? Because if motors still spin after one fails, it will just continue flying but in helix fly path straight into ground?-
I have my 7" set to send pulse with 1S battery attached to TBS Diversity Nano RX after link is lost. You can use Crossfire TX Lite (or full) to enable find mode. Once TX is close enough. it will get a link and begin receiving telemetry (whayaknow! you get another new updated GPS coordinates that you last know after the crash) to get closer. Once you're in the spot, you can use find mode to play cold & hot game to find it or hear its buzzer if battery hasn't ejected.
Edit: Saw the description about ESC failure. Learnt new thing everyday. :)

My LR quads have a similar setup as yours and have had an ESC burn up 2 separate times. I have been blessed to have had only a short hike to recover any downed quads. The GPS is a quad saver. I also have my GPS to record coordinates via black box and saved on my radio SD card. And also the last 5 points are saved on my radio display screen every 5 seconds. Glad you recovered it. I must add, at my age I would not have did that recovery...not physically able.

I once crashed and turtled out not knowing the battery had shifted and the props cut the wire insulation in 3 spots including frayed exposed wires positive and negative. Looked more like a failsafe for me. The humidity on the trees tend to absorb radio frequencies and the rx could have lost its signal as soon as you went lower below their level. The dead ESC could have been a secondary fault due to short in snow?

Rssi-Failsafe will activate "return Home-function" on this drone
