  • We are so happy we adopted this greyhound, when we heard the story about greyhounds from racing that they are killed if they dont want to race anymore so our choice was clear which dog we are gonna take... please, save greyhounds! :)

    The first day I brought my beloved Gumball home, she sniffed around my small apartment, came back to me (I was sitting on the floor) and put her muzzle right on my lips. She told me this was going to be a great new home.

    Greyhound are simply amazing 😉
    They're affectionate, intelligent way beyond any other dog, loving, loyal and such gentle members of the family. I wouldn't be without my boy!
    Life with him is amazing!
    Pure breed - so pure their blood type is compatible with every other breed.
    Worlds oldest breed, way beyond a "pedigree".

    It's quite natural for him to want to sleep in your bed, dogs are by nature pack animals and they do this because of your scent it comforts them. If you leave them for any length of time it's a good idea to give them a piece of clothes with your scent on it, when you return guarantee he'll be sleeping on it. so glad you did this wonderful of you.

      Ciao, mi è piaciuto tanto il tuo commento. Sto aspettando la visita pre affidataria per una Greyhound che verrà dell'Irlanda tra poco. Sono agitatissima perchè spero che si trovi bene con noi. Ma ho una Yorkshire e mi preoccupa che possa vederla come preda... Spero tutto vada bene

    He is so beautiful! We adopted our first grey this past Sunday! A little fawn brindle girl named Rainy. Her racing name was XJT Rain On Me. She just came off the track 3 weeks ago from Daytona Beach. She is as sweet as the day is long and we are in love.

    For racing dogs it's amazing how easily they find the most comfortable place in the house and assume control.

    • @chloetan229
      @chloetan229 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      How do you know that original owner didn’t treat him well and allow him in the house up on the bed and couch? You cannot make such assumptions without knowing the facts. I know of a racing grey who slept in the owner’s bed and came straight home and tucked herself in the owners bed. She ran third on her maiden race, and not good on her 2nd race and seemed to know it and went home straight to the human’s bed, of her own accord, looking very sad. She was very deeply loved and was bought over by her human owner from the breeder at a very young age for the love of her

    I have 5 IGs. One male is a Champion and then when he was 12 he won the Senior Sweepsteaks. I cannot imagine my life without these exquisite beauties. I plan to retire soon and will move to a house out in the country and have room for more dogs there. I would love a greyhound and saluki . The music, you used is Enya I believe. She is my favorite and I have all her albums.

    In the States, retired or failed racers are not killed. There is a network of adoption groups that will find homes and couches for them.

    We have a large black male greyhound named Jesse. He will jump up and Run like the Wind out the doggie door and around the yard in a wide circle. One by one the following start to chase him: 10 year old hound, 7yr old Boxer, 7yr old Corgi-mix, and bringing up the rear, a 1 year old chihuahua! Of course with the pack behind him, he regulates his speed so he keeps JUST AHEAD of the pack! GREYHOUNDS are easy companions, but they DO like your sofa.....with good brushing outside they shed little. I can't imagine life without Jesse. We're in Florida and have a LOT OF GREYHOUNDS that are car to car to car to car delivered to they other states. Wonderful program, the volunteers use their own vehicles and pay their own fuel costs. All for the love of the breed!

    Gorgeous hound. Says a lot about this breed, he can be a racer in a particular environment. Then transform into a house pet. Great that he was able to have a great place for retirement. We have 4 retired racers and they are just great to have.

    You should not leave the harness on your greyhound if he’s lying in his dog bed. It’s uncomfortable for then and can get caught on something. Same principle goes for the collar. Greys have very sensitive necks and it can itch. It should not be left on especially if it’s a martingale as it can easily get caught and choke your dog. We don’t leave any collars on our dogs as it keeps them most comfortable. If you absolutely must have one on, use a house collar or tag collar. Hope your grey has a great pet life!

    He is a beautiful boy but why do you say that you saved his life? Was he on death row? Greyhounds that are in the care of adoption groups will be found a home unless they are very ill and senior, then potential adopters may not wish to adopt. Not all owner/trainers are bad, and many do love their dogs and try to find a good home to re- home them when their racing days are over. That doesn’t mean they need rescuing or a martyr saved their life. Yes there are bad owners too, who treat their greyhounds as commodities and these are the ones who give the industry a bad name.
