I am currently debating between buying one of these exact scooters and then i found this video, crazy. Thank you very much, you answered many of my questions and even ones i didn't know i had.
Appreciate the video. I'm debating between these two scooters, and this helps a lot. OMG, the scenery is incredible. Palm trees and snow covered mountains, WOW!!!!
I just picked up the 2022 Burgman 200, I had been researching between it and the Vespa 300. I am very satisfied that I made the right choice. I live in a City environment where freeway travel is an *option.* I did test the Burgman on the freeway for a short burst, it has great power, suspension, balance and stability. Ive always known the Burgmans to be excellent cruisers.
Your Japanese Made vehicles are built better via mechanically, and electrical than any European made junk. I was all about European Made for speed and power, until I got a new European vehicle and had many issues not long after, and deathly too!
I rode a couple of used Burgman 650s and was put off by the way the CVT operates. Eventually I found a new 2018 Burgman 650 just out of the box at a dealer in Houston in 2021 and bought it at a discount-$2K+ under sticker. At my CA house I have a 2014 Vespa GTV300 which, oddly enough, is quicker out of the hole than the Burgman 650 Executive. The Burgman is much more comfortable at higher speeds obviously, but I avoid TX freeways like the plague-to many semi’s and they’re allowed in all lanes in some places. The CVT is much smoother on the Vespa. The Burgman feels like it is shifting gears for some reason, and it’s especially obvious when slowing to a stop.
Great comparison friends, did you know the seat of the Yamaha is adjustable? it can be adjusted forward and backward, I own a Yamaha Majesty 400 2006, I bought a Malossi clutch set and bell, it has 5 pads instead of 3 wich is smoother, you can also buy malossi spring kit for it so you can take off to higher revs, this doesn't work for me because of the traffic, it is kind of annoying that you have to rev more to take off, I lower the rollers to 13.5 grams, originally they come in 15 grams, It just revs and takes off much faster, have to mention that only use it at the city here in Mexico where we have much traffic, regards.
I didn’t know about the adjustability the seat. I’ll have to look at that closer. I believe I have probably seen that underneath the seat. There are bolts for the adjustment, correct?
@@ManCaveMayhem That's right friend, underneath the seat you'll see 4 allen 4mm screws for the adjusment, I have it all backwards because I am tall, I don't see my other comment where I told you I have the PDF OEM repair manual with lot of technic info, if you don't have it write me to send it to you, regards.
There is a missing info on a consumption. Mine Burgman 400 was consuming around 3.7 liters or 63Mpg which is pretty good. What I have read about Majesty is that it takes 1 liter more. Not sure if this is plausable.
It's more of a side by side comparison than a "VS", but not sure what you expect these two guys to tell you. It says in the video which is which, if you can't tell the difference about which one they're talking about then it sounds like it's more an issue about you. It's just a video of two similar scooters, you don't get to see two of these side by side very often.
What Don Elmore is talking about is at 12:52 he says "This one has a pause and this one is more consistent but then this one picks up." He's off camera while saying all that so it's hard to tell which one he's referring to.
@@ManCaveMayhem Yes there are sweet. Low center of gravity you can really whip around. Pirelli Diablo tires make a lot of difference over the stock Dunlops.

An honest review. I own a 2008 Majesty 400 and a 2014 Burgman 200. Looking to get out of both of them for a Burgman 400. But then again, when I think about selling the Majesty..........it has such a nice balance.
I had the Majesty and loved it, found it better on the highway than the Burgman Used it to go to work on the 400 highway 102 km each way, and many weekend tours. Now in 2024 you can only get a Yamaha 300 so looking at the new Burgman 400 2024, but on the 2024 the under seat storage seem to be much less, so putting a 52 liter top box. for storing my helmet and jacket when stopped. Keeping the under seat for the heavier stuff. Also going to add heated grips and hand guards and battery tender.
Well, as you probably know by now, I got the Yamaha, and glad I did, as it was the best choice for now. I'm doing the seals on the bike, as they now leak. Living in Canada is hard on bikes during winter months and no garage, even when I covered it up with 2 covers. Anyway, I did find a way to remove the front shocks without having to remove all the plastic front parts...thank goodness! Looking for a video on doing the back brakes, do you have one? I am having to restore the front calibers a bit which is again, a winter problem. I have to change out the back tire too. It sure runs great after upgrading the tranny with the Italian setup. Wow, much smoother with the 5 pads instead of the 3. Hey, where can I get the mirrors you have with the extended arm? I really need to find those, as the original mirrors are way too short for propoer viewing!:) Thanks as always!
I’m not sure where those mirrors came from. I believe they are the original mirrors. I have never done the rear brakes on that scooter. California Weather is mild at best. Unfortunately I’m out of state at this time or I could probably do a how to video on that sorry I couldn’t be of more help ride safe and good luck with your scooter.
My brother has the 400 Bergman, I'm used to the bigger bikes but once you ride one of these you will be sold...comfortably does 80 in a light headwind on a mild grade, with a 200lb rider. My only complaint is the small tire and pothole situation, other than that if you have hip issues or whatnot a step through is the ticket...I doubt except adventure biking or track purposes I'd ride anything other than a step through anymore.
Nice vid guys , thanks .I personnally have the 400 Burg and I agree with what you mentionned about stability at low speed and comfort among other things . From a french guy set in South of France .
The Yamaha I got is very nice at low speeds and tight turns too! LOVE That, as I am NOT a person to whip around things, I like low speed control. It's a really well-balanced bike, which with the weight is surprising. They really are a great bikes and economical! I also love that they, unlike many other bikes, have a ton of parts out there for them...which is awesome for longevity.:) Cheers and happy riding!
Hey Larry and Wes with man cave Mayhem. Question for you. Do you know if there are shorter shocks that can be put on a Burgman 400 or a Yamaha Majesty 400? Still trying to get one of these things for my wife so I can get the 650 Burgman LOL. She stands about 5 or maybe five foot one. Had her sit on a Burgman 400 and she can only get the very tips of her toes to touch the ground to balance so before I get her something I want to see if I can use a regular standard shorter shocks for the 400 Majesty or if there is a shorter models shock for the Burgman 400 I know that they can be adjusted but even at setting 3 which I believe is standard I don't think it's going to be short enough for her to put her feet almost flat
MAURICE JOHNS I don’t think there are shorter shocks but they do make a 200 cc Burgman that might work for the wife. Maybe check that out. I think you would have issues with the rear tire clearing the fender well if you shortened the shocks. I hope this helps.
Good soundtrack and video work during the on-road ride. Well done! I've had about 6 Burg's, currently a 2012 400 with e22 Givi bags and set for touring. Sweet ride!
No I have not but you may want to check to make sure you are getting spark and possibly check and see if there is a clogged fuel filter. I know those are fuel injected so it could be a fuel delivery problem too.
Honda Rincon You won’t be disappointed. They are great scoots! Stay up on the maintenance and it will serve you well for years. Thanks for watching and ride safe👍🏻
Burgman older models had dual brake system, but new from 2008 have separated. This Burgman has front and rear separated. Although it could be possible that when you apply enough brakeing on the back that front right disc is also breaking 25%. Older Burgman had this until 2006/7 afterwards they took this option out.Having dual system is ok, the problem if if you use left lever or rear brake all the time (which is wrong) you will have one of the front disc uneven used.
I think when it is all said and done these two machines are about the same so a decision might come down to which brand you prefer. I once owned, for a few months, a Piaggio MP 3 400 so I have some experience with this size bike. Granted the Piaggio had 2 wheels up front and single cylinder 400cc engine as is the Suzuki. The twin Yamaha may be a little smoother. The maxi scooter is designed for open road riding and touring rather than delivering pizza. It could do that but it is far too big and heavy for that to be the reason to buy it. Since these are 2009 versions I would expect there to have been some improvements. On the principle that if it ain't broke don't fix it there is no need to change the basic design but as with the Burgman's bigger brother the 650 AN cruise control would be a good idea - it just makes the day's riding so much better. Traction control for wet and slippery roads would be another option to consider. In my view forget the whole bike v scooter thing and ride what you like, what you can afford that gets you where you need to go. It is the ride that is important not how fast you were going or how quickly you got there only that you got there in your own style and comfort. I don't like to preach or tell others what to do but I feel if you're promoting motor cycling it is best to be seen riding in proper safety gear. Thanks for the video
The 400 Bergman is a nice machine. I'm used to 850cc, and other than track and adventure biking I'd doubt I'd run anything other than a step through for a daily, they are so convenient and since you can't change the speed limit it's more power than you need, it will comfortably run 80 with a light headwind and slight grade with 200lb rider.
So I think the Bergman was the one that broke down on the 66 touring? I have in my sights the Yamaha, but it's over 10 thousand Klm. And I don't think they have done any tune-up work on it at all...so would mean a complete workover. Which I can do, but an expensive buy at that rate. It is a 2012 Yamaha..Majesty. Both are 4 valve overhead cam... Good thing I can follow your mechanic videos, as those REALLY help to know how to properly service...thanks guys!!:) I see these bikes all over Europe!! Like wow, even South America...not many here in Prairie western Canada.!LOL I DOhave to ask about the wind factor, how do they handle with that? Some don't like to ride 400's in winds as they are too light a bike then?? Just wondering? I know you must have got some across those plains while driving on 66!:) The Yamaha does have adjustable shocks on the back too...which helps with ride choices...I think the Suzuki does too.
They are both very good bikes the Burgman broke down because it had been abused very badly prior to my getting a hold of it. Either one would be a great choice.
@@ManCaveMayhem Thank you! I was not sure about the transmission on the Yamaha...they say it is not as good as the Burgman...how do you guys feel about them? They both are similar, but I think the Yamaha has that spring in the clutch...or does Burgman have that too? Need to ask as I have to decide quickly...there are only 2 to choose from here in Alberta! The older Burgman is 1500 more, more miles, and 5 yrs older! The Yamaha is 3500, 2012 and only 14000 Kl on it...but, in the country..lots of dust! Not sure he has done a thing with it maintenance-wise.
I change the belt in my Yamaha Majestic 2009 at 20.000 klm and show like new really no damage no difference old and new look like can go more 5 - 8 thousand more I drive more in the city 75% HWY 25% at 100 - 120 kph
I have back problems and with that custom seat it tends to help. But they both ride decent. I would say the Bergman’s probably got better suspension than the majesty. I hope this helps thanks for watching👍🏻🇺🇸
no bike is good for back pain but at least on a scooter the way you sir puts way less stressed on your back on the bad side scooters have smaller wheels so you tend to feel all the bumps so you need to ride on smoother roads
@@johnmitchell2741 finally I took the Burgman, but I must admit with a bit of shame that the Italian roads have deteriorated much since I was riding a motorcycle as a young man. it will be for the crisis, it will be for the bad management of public affairs, the moral of the story is that the holes and manholes of my city are real traps, and surprisingly I have the problems on the front and not on the rear. I think that in the USA the roads are much more cared and smooth
@@RobertoBindi It greatly depends on which state and if you live in the city or country i live in rural Arkansas so the main roads are pretty good but if I drive down towards the city the roads deteriorate fast.I used to ride dual sports for most of my youth but I'm 60 now and I've had 2 spinal fusions in the last 5 years so except for the smaller tire size and a lot less suspension travel I'm loving my Yamaha smax for the overall usefulness and weather protection
Nice video but even though they're both automatics the Suzuki Bergman you can shift manually or just leave it in automatic mode it's got a paddle shifter for your thumb on The Handlebar
I owned a Yamaha for two years put 13k on it nice bike had no problems rear tire is a job to get off you have to remove the muffler and swingarm to get it off
@@ManCaveMayhem mine was stolen and wrecked.. but i also had/have a Morphous which is, in some ways a better bike. Or at least better suited to my needs.
I have both brands of scooter and I could confirm that Yamaha is more economical and cheaper to maintain unlike Burgman which is very expensive to maintain and spare parts are very expensive and without forgetting that Burgman scooters burn oil even brand new
bought a 2007 Majesty new....the speedo goes to 120mph, in the beginning I thought "Why Not???" So when I was between 95 & 100mph, commons sense kicked in ("WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING!!!?" I get 60-65 miles/gallon. I didn't like the cutout on the boards of the Burgman cuz that is where I place my feet when riding. Also, my '07 is a bit quieter than the '09 ya'll rode...
Surely you have to measure seat height when you're sat on scooters due to differences in the center stands? I've owned two Majesty's and one Burgy 400 and the latter is definitely lower by at least one inch, possibly two...
@@ManCaveMayhem I have one also :) a 2011 Sky Wave 400 (Burgman) ABS limited edition. My favorite, favor it than my K' GTR 1400. Scooter indeed much convenient than bike for daily use.
Max J They are awesome bikes. We’ve Had great luck with them. My wife loves her 400 majesty but overall if I had a choice at the time of purchase I would have probably purchased the Suzuki. The Yamaha is a great bike though👍🏻
Burgman is the established standard. It is obvious that Yamaha just tried to copy what works. With parts, forums, support and design... it is obvious the Burgman is the shizzle.
Great to see you doing a review and comparison between the two most popular brands. I'm sure that can be debated but I don't think any of the other scooter companies have the dealer network or volume of sales these two have. Even better to see you doing more scooter stuff. Biggest problem with scooters is comfort. A tall guy is not comfortable sitting straight up but wants his legs forward like on a larger road bike. I wish Yamaha or Suzuki would figure this out
Burgman with good tyres can be used to troll some bigger bikers while in a cornering...😂😂 Due to longer wheel base this Scooters are maybe not that fast on straight but pretty stabile in corners...boy did I trolled some bikers with it while cornering on the outside...😂😂😂 New Burgman is even more agile you can troll all day long...😂

It's WHEEL SIZE, not TIRE SIZE. You guys don't have the facts straight before you started this video?? Try looking it up and writing it down, not guessing about DOHC, wet weight, wheel size, recommended belt service interval and seat height. What a waste of time.

Roger Smith Thanks for your input. It’s great to get others perspective. Thanks for watching😎
The Yamaha isn't a twin , it's a single like the burgman.
They are very nice machines and easy to maintain. You can’t go wrong with them🇺🇸👍🏻Thanks for watching and ride safe my friend!
@@ManCaveMayhem thanks for putting the time and effort into making the comparison. Shiny side up my friend.. I didn't see your gremlin bells....
@@vincentrusso4332 I agree those need to be on the bikes👍🏻
Have you taken it off any cool ramps?
Lmao. You sound like Napolian Dynamite
@@michaelmcdonnell2330 yeah, I figured everyone would get that. Kind of like click your heels and go back to Kansas
Great review gents, very helpful.
Thank you I’m glad you enjoyed it!
@@vickikgibson9470 They both of been very reliable scooters you would have to just base it I would guess on condition.
Nice basic comparison, thanks for the effort.
Russel Allen Thanks for watching I always enjoy your insight😎👍🏻
Is that sammy hagar?
Nice vid guys, you just helped me make a good decision. Bergman it is!LOL
Glad we could help👍🏻 thanks for watching!
What about storage?
I miss my majesty, but my legs were a little too long for comfort on the Majesty.
Yes the scooter is a smaller bike and could be tight for taller folks. Ride save my friend👍🏻
I change the belt in my Yamaha Majestic 2009 at 20.000 klm and show like new really no damage no difference old and new look like can go more 5 - 8 thousand more I drive more in the city 75% HWY 25% at 100 - 120 kph
which is the best for people like me suffering from back pain? :D
Very good comparison. How tall are you guys?
Nice video but even though they're both automatics the Suzuki Bergman you can shift manually or just leave it in automatic mode it's got a paddle shifter for your thumb on The Handlebar
no only the 650
I owned a Yamaha for two years put 13k on it nice bike had no problems rear tire is a job to get off you have to remove the muffler and swingarm to get it off
Yes they are definitely a pain to get off👍🏻
I'd like to know what state your in the set up is strange
California unfortunately🇺🇸
My Majesty YP400 still feels good after a few years, but the tyres are getting old now.
шины это расходный материал, обычное дело для любого транспорта
Got rid of my Burgman 400 because of low speed balance and front vibration.
nascar fan I actually like The Bergman 650 and my wife seems happy with the Yamaha majesty.
I had an 06 majesty.. great bike.
They are great bikes! And they’re a lot of fun too👍🏻
@@ManCaveMayhem mine was stolen and wrecked.. but i also had/have a Morphous which is, in some ways a better bike. Or at least better suited to my needs.
I think that channel name should be " Mr. Doctor and Carpenter"
"This one"? Which one?
I have both brands of scooter and I could confirm that Yamaha is more economical and cheaper to maintain unlike Burgman which is very expensive to maintain and spare parts are very expensive and without forgetting that Burgman scooters burn oil even brand new
I would have to agree with you on that.
bought a 2007 Majesty new....the speedo goes to 120mph, in the beginning I thought "Why Not???" So when I was between 95 & 100mph, commons sense kicked in ("WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING!!!?"
I get 60-65 miles/gallon. I didn't like the cutout on the boards of the Burgman cuz that is where I place my feet when riding. Also, my '07 is a bit quieter than the '09 ya'll rode...
Thanks for that👍🏻 Yep 80 was fast enough for that little scooter🤣
Surely you have to measure seat height when you're sat on scooters due to differences in the center stands? I've owned two Majesty's and one Burgy 400 and the latter is
definitely lower by at least one inch, possibly two...
Nice review
Thanks my friend thanks for watching
Majesty rocks.. a 400 that has a sweet spot at 70mph hauling my 250lb carcass +cargo
They are awesome scoots! My wife loves her’s
Burgman 400 not mono shock, but multiple link, superior than Yamaha dual shock.
.
Max J I agree 100% the difference in ride tells all👍🏻
@@ManCaveMayhem I have one also :) a 2011 Sky Wave 400 (Burgman) ABS limited edition. My favorite, favor it than my K' GTR 1400. Scooter indeed much convenient than bike for daily use.
Max J They are awesome bikes. We’ve
Had great luck with them.
Thanks for video, l wanna bay burgman or may....ooooo thank s!
For sure I’m glad you liked it👍🏻
Cool video.
G A Thanks I’m glad you liked it my friend👍🏻
@@ManCaveMayhem i always look forward to your vids buddy.
Great to see you doing a review and comparison between the two most popular brands. I'm sure that can be debated but I don't think any of the other scooter companies have the dealer network or volume of sales these two have. Even better to see you doing more scooter stuff. Keep up the good work guys. Entertaining and informative, ya done well.
Ken Nolte Thanks for the input and insight I always enjoy hearing from you😎👍🏻
@@ManCaveMayhem Always happy to see your latest efforts. The interaction between you and Wes reminds me of my best friend from a few years ago. We had a lot of good adventures together even though we didn't know it at the time. Thanks for bringing back good memories.
The front of the burgman looks more aggressive
For sure 👍🏻 more modern
Nice one
Thanks for the kind words 🇺🇸
@@ManCaveMayhem Really nice sir,I like you guys because you are so natural...all the best from 🇬🇧
Biggest problem with scooters is comfort. A tall guy is not comfortable sitting straight up but wants his legs forward like on a larger road bike. I wish Yamaha or Suzuki would figure this out
I had the 650 Burgman and it ran fantastic. But it wasn’t comfortable for any distance
I run into that same problem with adventure bikes as I am only 5’9” 🤣👍🏻 Ride safe my friend
"Rubber hits the road" ?
С 2009 года идет обновленная маджести. Барана два
Yes ABS with double disc at front. and little bit changed front design.
I did not know that. Good information.
Burgman with good tyres can be used to troll some bigger bikers while in a cornering...😂😂 Due to longer wheel base this Scooters are maybe not that fast on straight but pretty stabile in corners...boy did I trolled some bikers with it while cornering on the outside...😂😂😂
New Burgman is even more agile you can troll all day long...😂
For sure😎👍🏻
Why are you comparing such old scooters? 🤣
Because we own them and many people are looking for good used stuff🤷♂️
@@ManCaveMayhem Good answer. I just got the 2016 Suzuki Burgman. You have thoughts on that?
@@VegitoBlackityBlack They are great scoots! Keep up the maintenance and it will last you for years👍🏻 keep the rubber side down my friend.
@@ManCaveMayhem how do I keep the rubber side down?
@@VegitoBlackityBlack Ride safe👍🏻 keep the tires on the ground🤣
Burgman screams at freeway speeds and has zero passing power at those speeds. Case closed if you want to tour.
You said plethora. 😀
Jerry Fritz 🤣👍🏻
the yamaha sounds good
Yes it is a good sounding machine and reliable too. Thanks for watching ride safe👍🏻🇺🇸
Charging system went down on my 2013 Majesty/ set up three years, I missed rideing it, sooooo! Its in shop getting new tires new voltage regulater all oils changed radiator flush. At 1,580 Dollars! I’m glad you’re getting back out on your scoot and I will 🇺🇸
If you don't vote Donald I guess that debt ceiling will go enough to crush your economy eventually. Donald should defund WHO and all other org. that wants globalisation. Greetings from Switzerland
Yamaha does not take a seat back and Suzuki has seat back choices
Wes is helpful, less b.s.
Scooters are not persons. "Which will win" not who will win.
Thanks for the English lesson.🤣 My wife does the same thing. Sometimes I’m just a Dummy.
@@ManCaveMayhem 🙂 All the best! ❤
Thanks my friend 👍🏻
It's WHEEL SIZE, not TIRE SIZE. You guys don't have the facts straight before you started this video?? Try looking it up and writing it down, not guessing about DOHC, wet weight, wheel size, recommended belt service interval and seat height. What a waste of time.
tbillyjoeroth Thanks for your kind words 😘
chill out dude
nah. I'm down with tbillyjoeroth. Why are you making the video if you don't have facts? Do you think you are a TH-cam Personality and I want to watch you and your bros goofing around? Guessing at things? Shooting the breeze? I can do that at home. Focus on the factual content, and then fill in the gaps with amusement and personality. You have the cart before the horse.
Wasted time for watching this.
So sorry🤣 you kiss your mother with those lips.
Bw
17 HUNDRED?? OR 17 THOUSAND MILES??
pay ATTENTION to how you communicate, please.
idiot
Why would anyone want a scooter that you had to replace the belt every 1700 miles.. of course he meant 17,000 miles.
@@ronhalley8120 European mainteinance book say 24.000km or 15k miles. I would say 17k is max but it depends on how you ride it. Those belts can go over 20k if not pushed to hard.
