Just wanted to point out that Boneyard Lurker is already included in the Otrimi precon and that Pernicious Deed does not work with Unbound Flourishing because it's activated ability only gets copied. So the value of X stays the same. Nontheless a great video and some interesting includes for sure.
Elusive Tormentor is one I'm excited about - not about the 4/4/ for 4, but about its transformed state of Insidious Mist. Tormentor transforms discarding a card, which we can get back with Otrimi if we discard a mutate card, and its flip side has Hexproof, Indestructible, and can't block/be blocked. If you mutate something over it, the resulting mutated creature is almost impossible to deal with - and is no longer limited by the base power/toughness of the original card (which is 0/1).
Honestly what I'm gonna do with this deck is take it apart and make two separate decks. The first being a 5-color Mutate Deck with all the Apexes and the best Mutate cards of the set helmed by Surgeon Commander (and Child of Alara for the pods that won't let me use him because he's silver bordered). The second being an X focused Sultai deck probably helmed by the Hydra Legendary already in it.
Exactly what I have done with my mutate is 5 colour with RAMOS THE DRAGON ENGINE as my commander. An have flash mechanic with lot of hard to kill creatures to mutate onto
The new polukranos works well in this deck being able to recur itself be a host for mutations and the counters stack on otrimi's base 6/6 for a possible 12/12 or 18/18 that can just remove a creatures by fighting them
I've been thinking of grabbing this precon cause Mutate seems so neat. How good is it put of the box and how much will I have to spend to make it better?
Unfortunately, sets are set up a couple years in advance typically, so if something is popular we aren't likely to see it again for a few years. Exceptions would be if a mechanic is turned evergreen or is so massively popular they force it into something, but even then isn't likely.
But...what cards to take out!!! I've been staring at this deck for an hour and I can't decide what to remove to add in some of these cards that benefit from "X" cost spells and creatures!
One main thing people don't speak on when it comes to assasins trophy is that you don't only instant speed get rid of a permanent but you also shuffle their library which can mess with decks that manipulate the top of their library ruining certain wacky plays they're setting up 😂🤘

I'm very excited to slide Wrexial into my Otrimi deck and see how that goes! Also, Vorosh the Hunter is getting a spot.
I love that Jeremy is so in love with Unbound Flourishing that he already asumes that is in the field for every X spell
I really hope that this series continues past c20! i love watching you two in comander vs, and its nice to see you guys interact outside of that.

Unbound flourishing DOES NOT double the value of X for cards like pernicious deed.
For specifically Zaxara I really like Retribution of the Ancients, for 1 B and some +1/+1 counters you can pinpoint problem creatures.
I love the interaction with Mutate and Deed. I now want a CMC matters set in standard soon to play with mutate creatures.

Love the new series!!! Is it in the plans to do other commanders or just ones from precons?

Really enjoying the Mutate ability hope to see a bit more of it next set.

doesn't assassin's Trophy allow your opponent to search for a land?
No Dirge Bat?? I love Dirge Bat!
Boneyard lurker is already in the deck

Remove all the X spells to make a new deck with Zexara as your commander, spend another 20-30 bucks and you'll have 2 new decks to play with ;)

They didn't mention that because the permanentes controller can choose not to search.
No cephalid constable , needle specter? Thrun???
I think these are more of the no-brain auto-includes that always make the cut that they try to avoid in these videos
Though Thrun, the Lonely King is REALLY gross with mutate, like wow!
@@YaoBao1 I was thinking thrunn the last troll. Did you mean grunn the lonely king ?
would Yarok would with mutate mechanics?
Mutate won’t have ETB triggers it just kinda fuses with the creature already there
Oko, thief of crowns? FYI he’s not banned in commander
Necroskitter
didnt even talk about nightveil predator...disappointed
Dimir Cutpurse...
Several mistakes in this video
Boneyard lurker is already in the deck
