    It's really interesting how different people's dietary preferences are! For me this would've been a great bag! 😄 I'd go through a bag of sugar snaps peas a day no problem. Limes I'd slice and freeze.

      It just wasn't my thing at all, no doubt you could tell! You're right, it's all about personal preference.

    Brilliant! Like you said. Paid for the turkey and the rest is free. Cut up the limes into wedges and bang them in your freezer.

      If I did that with those limes they'd still be there now! 🤣

    I think maybe they put the disgruntled employee on this job today. You can squeeze the lime juice into ice cube trays; then pop them out into a freezer bag. You can blanch the peas and then freeze them, too. You can stir fry the bok choy; wash it first to remove any hidden sand. Happy Valentine's day!

    • @BitOfMunch
      @BitOfMunch  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like your suggestion about the peas, might do that, my son's taking the limes to work tomorrow to see if anyone wants them.

    Too late now but you could have stir fried the Pak Choi and sugar snap peas adding including soy sauce and lime juice and ginger. That could have been served along side the thai curry and just some rice. The limes are an absolute blessing served simply with sparkling lemon or with a Vodka.

    Blanch the sugar snaps and freeze, but use a pack for stir fry with the pac choi with the turkey. Make a lime cordial - delicious. Marinade turkey in lime and coriander and pan fry. The bag isn't too bad at all

    Ok so a bit of inside info for you and everyone who uses that app..
    I’ve worked in environmental services for over 13 years. Most notably in food waste. You may have heard of anaerobic digestion. It’s a process that is used to ‘recycle’ food waste to create renewable energy such as bio methane. In this case let’s talk about Aldi. They have a national waste contract with a large waste firm. Collecting/processing all of the waste generated across their stores/NDCs etc. Not interested in other waste streams, just the food waste. The food waste is a commodity, it’s worth a shed tonne of money to both Aldi, food manufacturers and the like plus the waste processors. There are many different categories to determine what a specific type of food waste would yield in terms of gas generation. For example, let’s take a packet of doughnuts.. because they are highly calorific ie high in fats, sugars etc, it’ll generate approx. 650m3 of bio methane PER TONNE. This is what it’s worth to food waste processors.. now for the interesting part.. that tonne of doughnuts would highly likely attract a rebate. In other words £ per tonne. In this case, Aldi would be looking at around £60-120 per tonne return. So if Aldi threw away 10 tonnes of doughnuts in a week, their return would be £600-1200 x 52 weeks = £31,200-62400. Not saying they only throw doughnuts so let’s take another example.. if they’re mixing their food waste it’ll generate approx. 190-260m3 of bio methane and it’ll still yield a hefty return back to them. So in your case, I suspect the reason why you were given so much veg/fruit/vegan food was because of the lack of bio methane it’ll be able to yield. You’re talking less than 50m3. Additionally lemons are highly acidic and many AD facilities do not process this stuff due to the live biology not being able to eat it. Its basically a huge stomach, imagine eating a whole lemon, you’re guaranteed to have an upset stomach. Ultimately if businesses want to help reduce food waste, they should be utilising apps like too good to go and offering a wider selection. However, what with the monetary values food waste attracts, this won’t happen anytime soon which just makes too good to go useless unless change is implemented and money isn’t the talking point above environmental benefits. Lastly, take a look at animal feed, that’s a whole different industry altogether.. basically anything that isn’t Category 3 Animal by Product, is used to make pet food or food for livestock and the value in that is astronomical. You’ve only got to look at wheat prices and you’ll be shocked. Anyway I’ve said my piece. Hope it helps and puts gives some insight. 👍

    I guess it’s just the luck of the draw. I got anAldi one recently and I got a decent haul, with a large joint of beef that was £10.49 in normal life. It’s now frozen. My first and only bag from Morrisons, I got an absolute tonne of fruit and veg (literally only fruit and veg), it included mouldy strawberries and 5 lots of spring onions.

    Lets keep in mind that they give you what is about to expire and need to get rid of on that day specifically. You shouldnt be surprised at what you got because there was nothing else to throw away probably. As for the grapes. I side with you, that is absolutely ridiculous. I got a bag from herons food and it came with 2 month old mayo which is just insane in my opinion.

    You'll have to make that old classic recipe 'sugar snap pea and lime casserole' perhaps with a side of pak choi since they go so well ! Lol 😅 Oh dear, bit of a disappointment, if not for the turkey steaks and the veg curry pot which redeemed the bag slightly. This would put me off the too good to go bags definitely yes. Hopefully Steve you can enjoy the turkey steaks and push the mouldy grapes to the side hehe 😂
