- Hey guys! This is Ark Survival Ascended update to my old Island cave guide. Some things have changed a lot, some... not so much, but personally I think these are the best ways to beat the caves in ascended.

I don't understand why you wouldn't at least put the chords to the entrance of each cave on screen at some point..
@0ChanMan Currently, I can not change anything to the video or add anything on the screen after the video is unloaded. Best I can do is add the coordinates to the timestamps. But I think @jusef85's comment is enough.
perfect thank you
Well these are just completely wrong
So there is a trick on official to get any tame into the ice cave. You need to set up a gene and cryo fridge on top of the ice cave outside. It needs to above the chockhold section just passed it. You put sap in a bug and pick up the cryo fridge and fly mid air close to ground. Jump off so its hovering and then head into the cave. Just before you hit the main room throw your cryo and release your dino. As its within range of the fridge above you can uncryo your dinos. This includes gigas as well. But really you could just throw a bunch of yutys and they will clear the cave just fine.
Thank you so much, such a good guide!
Thanks, bro! Glad to help!
You can use a Procoptodon to transport baby dinos across the map. Making it easier to bring most dinos into these caves. My personal favorite is to breed Thylas, cause bleed doesn't care about the increased cave levels xD.
Great tip!

Thanks for the update.
In the swamp cave when using a Barry u don’t need to dismount to get to the artifact. If u wiggle around on ur way up and in first person u can make it up.
Nice video, was just going to try some caves
Thanks, man! Good luck!🍻
I did this cave on official beginners with a pack of hyenadons on ASE. No cryos and they fit under the old crouch. Max wild on beginners in lvl 30, but the levels of the creatures in this cave was still in the 100s. Hyenadons are great for this. The have a pack bonus and unlike dire wolves, they can equip a saddle. They also heal when harvesting corpses.
Awesome!
Never thought of that, great idea
how much do they ehal when eating corpses
Thanks brother 💪🏽💪🏽
Bro ty...i never thought to bring hyenas....ur the goat...ive been mutating them cuz i love crayola puppers....but the ones i got should be able to decimate the cave
this is perfect timing. on my playthrough, i'm getting to around the point where i'm doing caves in preparation for bosses, but i was especially worried about the hard snow cave. i didn't even think about trying to raise stuff in there but i totally will now
also one thing to say about the upper south cave portion: there is a secret shortcut in the large room with the ruined bridge that you can access with a grappling hook. it takes you directly to the artifact without ever needing scuba gear. so for that reason, me and my friend used a sabertooth each and it was pretty easy
Well with the new changes to the entrance it's easier than it was back in pre-cryopod ASE. Btw, how did you finish the Upper South Cave?
@@SpartacusSurvives I fought through with a sabertooth until it reaches a choke point where I then went on foot to the pond room with the bridge. Then I grappled through the shortcut in the roof/wall and got the artifact in there
ahhhh, ok you used the hooking method
U just need to take all rights for reaching artifact in upper ice cave
@@SpartacusSurvives is there any other method then a grapple? Screw getting lost in those watertunnels, i was just wondering what tames can get in and out of the tunnel.
Upper south cave, no need to go in water. Just use grappling hook to the top right while standing in front of first sarco pool. Great video by the way!
Thanks, man!
I figured this shortcut out after swimming through them all without a Dino and only a crossbow. It sucked. Learned that argentavis fit in the cave though so it made the shortcut even easier.
⭐️ i found that sarcos didn't aggro on my megatherium while i was in the water, only the piranha did. But when i hopped off the megatherium to grab the loot crate near the pool of death in the central cave, three sarco came from out of nowhere almost instantly... good thing Kapros don't spawn in caves...
You are a legend man
Thanks, man! Glad I helped you!
Nice video 👍
Thanks! Doing my best!
Been using a wolf for caves. He handled the lower South cave and lava caves no problem. For Artifact of the Devourer, I just used ghillie and bug repellent and snuck in and out.
Yeah, the wolf is great for lower difficulty caves.
@@SpartacusSurvives @crhistgatton621 what level wolf were you running?
So, once you unlock personal teleports from one of the fights.. you only need to go into this cave once more.. because you can place a foundation, generator, and small teleporter by the gorilla in the back (because we all use cave building enabled in single player.. right?). This also means you don't need to get out the long way.. place it, and portal back to base.. come back anytime you need one. This also means way less grapples for method 2. Which btw.. for those choke points, you don't yolo through them.. get get agro.. back up, and let them fall of the cliffs, then go in.. or use spike walls and shoties. Anyway, i hope this tip helps out in later game, when return trips should be less trouble.
Personally, I don't use cave building and I play single player. I like a bit of a challenge. The other tips are solid 👌
You could try to use a megalania on the snow cave, walking through the ceiling all the way to the artifact. Make sure to throw grenades every once in a while to take out purlovias and yuties in small corridors.
Or just run through naked. It’s not hard with the derpy Dino bs
I will give this one a try, since megalania might deserve a separate video for the caves.
@@VendettaNC On unofficial you can't really naked run. almost every purlivoa hits you.
Thank you for your help this I can do
Thank you. I will try the egg method
Good luck, bro!
@@SpartacusSurvives First try with the yutyrannosaurus! I play on easy but it wasn't that easy for me.
Thanks again!
In carno cave you can walk your thylo backwards through the entrance instead of spamming the jump button.
in the north west cave you can grab the artifact by standing on the egde. you dont have to jump down
I think the best cave mount in general for the land ones at least would be the Sabretooth. Not only does it have great maneuverability, but it can net you a whole lot of Chitin, so you are basically killing a bunch of birds with one stone.
Pretty decent but not the strongest option out there in my opinion.
I did central cave (one of the easiest) with a fairly high level Sabertooth. Its hp dropped to less than half at some point. I don't think it will work in harder caves unless you breed a super Sabertooth
its basically a raptor that is slightly better, i dont think its a very good idea to use a saber
@@ggsmrdoink obviously I increased my Dino stats a bit in the settings but not a ridiculous amount. I go in 1, 1.5, and 2 increments. Regardless, I’ve got a 190 Sabre, with high damage, weight and health. Works like a charm for me 😁 probably will breed it too, need a high level female. Maybe not ideal but they are great nonetheless. Probably wouldn’t take him to the north caves imo
In swamp cave u can get to artifakt whit bary. never dismounted ;) just need to wigle
cant wait for pods, taking my megatherium in the swamp cave!
actually if you dismount the barry amd set him to follow at the end of the cave,, go ahead and exit, he will come to you after exiting
For the northwest cave a pack of dimorphs is a good help.
I love how the snow cave is so bad that it earned the entire thumbnail for a video about all caves
And about half the video🤣
For snow cave just build a walk way or u can use turrets to kill wild Dino’s also use pheromone darts to lure purs
People have been saying for years that the Baryonyx is a great cave mount, and i never really listened... Until now. It's awesome, especially when there's water as it can heal extremely quickly after a tail-spin.
You don't actually need to go through the water tunnels in the central cave to get to the artifact though. Just scramble the Bary part way up the wall under the secret entrance, then walk/jump yourself up the rest. ASA allows the player to scale up rock faces easier than ASE.
Yes, I now remember that you can scale up rocks a lot better in ASA. I suppose you are talking about the upper south cave tough. :) I like to use the tunnels mostly for the loot that you can get. When you are riding a bary, underwater loot is basically free.
@@SpartacusSurvives - ah, yeah, I was mistaken, I meant upper south. (Funnily enough, I couldn't get up the rocks when I tried again ... Had to grapple!
@@Adrena1in :)) I will give it a try myself
The old fashioned way is to use a lot of grappling hooks and explosives.
And focus on durability, not armor value. Bring lots of extra armor. But avoiding that "kachink" sound of armor breaking is far more important than having maxed armor stat.
Use consumables to reduce cold damage. And custom crafted consumables as a slow heal to keep the cold damage under control.
Did it in flak with 2 fur items. Had to have more spare fur armor cuz it breaks easier than the best flak. Seemed more practical in yellow-label gear (lots of armor with maxed crafting skill build... too expensive to do it in ascendant).
Really I think my total armor value was below 1000 on that gear-build. Each piece was carefully selected for durability and hypothermal, and maxed out with many crafts. One of the flak items was blue label even, but had incredible durability. Your 'time till perish' goes WAY up with durability over armor value. High armor value actually breaks your gear faster even, which can make armor with an impressive armor rating result in perishing _faster_ as you "go nekkid" faster. At high gear levels, you don't perish from being hit, your armor breaks and _then_ you perish. And much faster in super-cold. (armor in ark is dumb & counter intuitive - it has about 1/10th the durability it should have for balance)
I recommend explosives you can just drop (to conserve your rockets). Usually your enemies will be below your dangling form, easy to just drop bombs on. Save rockets for those narrow spots, to pull enemies to a place with higher ceilings.
Custom consumables with a Loooooong slow-healing effect were invaluable. But you have to train your party to NOT spam them like healing potions. Just re-up them when their effect runs out. They just kinda nerf the cold damage. Think of them as the big-brother of the fria curry. Bring a stack of heal potions for more serious spot healing. The long slow heal effect actually works best against a long slow DoT like the cold in there. Prevents you reaching full health, and ending the effect. Towards that goal you'll want to experiment with recipies to maximize a long heal time, without over-healing the cold, or making the food too heavy. You gotta kinda maintain a slightly damaged status, and manage it with a few heal potions.
Park a beaver to use as a crafting station for armor repair in the parking lot area, in case you take damage early. And extra gear replacements in it. If you die early in the run, you can at least do a corpse run before respawns start.
ALWAYS call out your rocket attacks. If I had a nickle for every time someone ran in front of someone else who's aiming a rocket...
Looks like they made it much easier to get dinos into the snow cave... that's a bit disappointing. It's more fun without them ;) forces you to plan ahead more, and approach it very tactically.
Smallest party I did the snow cave with was solo, and no dinos. But that did require a LOT of weight stat to carry all the gear needed, which limits your health pool... which makes it tricky to manage your health well. I always brought a longneck for stragglers. A shotgun could work well too, but only if you're good at avoiding the 'bouncing' on grappling hooks, so you can carefully control your distance to targets. It's just more weight efficient for the ammo carrying than an AR, and weight is the biggest obstacle if you're geared appropriately for the snow cave.
Tried it with a sword & shield approach, but that was kind of a mess. It's just better to dangle from the ceiling than to tank it.
Also tried the snow cave solo with a mutant dimorph-swarm... was great at first, but Yeti AoE attacks killed them off before getting halfway through.
An otter can be a boon, but if you get hit much you'll lose it. Fortitude is woefully inadequate for offsetting the cold damage, points better off in weight & health.
Wow! Amazing comment, bro. My approach to the caves in this video was to find a way for less experienced players to beat the caves. What you are suggesting I think is more for the advanced players, who know how to properly prepare for this one. But honestly, it does sound like a pretty fun challenge. 👍
@@SpartacusSurvives most fun with 3 or 4 people though :) makes the weight margins a lot more manageable if you have help killing things and don't need 50 billion bullets & bombs hehe.
We (by 'we' i mean numerous solo tribes on an official pve server) pooled our blueprints and shared them around so we had a kinda 'server standard' for the armor kit ;) same with the custom food recipe.
But ya, it's not a newbie-friendly cave! First time in = a hasty retreat hehe. But we came back better prepared. Eventually it became almost a tour-service to help people go get their artifact ;)
I remember i had an ascendant torch bp ...and it was finally useful!
@kathrynck well everything is a lot more fun with some extra friends:)) especially if they are the ones dying (in the game) in the process:)))
@@SpartacusSurvives hehehe. mostly i hoped nobody died, cuz that'd make it harder :P even exiting with the artifact could get messy depending on how long it took.
Got to know some of the other 'solo alphas' on the server better :)
Trying to think if it would be easier or harder now. I think easier. Cuz now your max level is like 10 levels higher (more points to spend). And you can put your torch on your belt! that'd heelp definitely. On the other hand, there were a couple 'warm spots' in the cave by mistake back then, which was rather useful ;) and I'm sure they patched those out eventually.
For the upper south cave, you do NOT have to jump down, the path is to the left of the hole maybe a bit hidden but it’s there. First person makes it easier to find it.
Yes, you do not have to jump, but not all dinos will fit through the first chokepoint
@@SpartacusSurvives ya I just tested it again and realized the Baryonyx doesn’t actually fit through the tree and he somehow got glitched through it. I have my own server with cryo mod since WC decided they don’t want us using them anymore but know they are needed to avoid server cap.
the last snow cave is unreal me and a friend were using baryonix and sabers plus weapons, only got so far before having to stop , need stronger mounts
Oh yeaas
I’m still waiting for this game to came out for PlayStation but this video should help for the future ❤
Gonna be a lot of fun!
I spammed 12 dimorphodon in the north west cave and it worked great. A couple got killed and another 2 got clipped into the walls so they’re gone forever, but definitely worth it.
Nice idea.
So far Baryonyx named "Gail Lewis" is my champ
I'm surprised no one talk about the use of lazarus chowder for water caves, I only bring one scuba tank. I pop a lazarus, and when I'm close to ned oxygen, i wear the scuba for 5 seconds untill my oxygen is back full, and take off the scuba again. then pop another lazarus when the timer goes off.. repeat.
even better, bring 2 honey on you when in the water attached to a fishing rod, tame a lipleurodon it takes 2 honey on x1, you can breath underwater for 3 hours almost
Nice!
You can bring 2 baby megatherium into the Swamp cave. First stays right under the first ramp, second goes into the narrow tunnel behind the red thing on the left side of the first big room. This allows you to clear the cave safely from arthro spit, gets you ALL the drops and gets you the artifact. Best way to farm endgame blueprints in ASA imho.
(Don't forget to remove leeches from them every time you leave the cave)
Nice.💪
Aparently thats against the rules in official pve
Another L for official then, who has the time to play that shit anyway@@Jaceftp
Eh I take 1 frog in there with an ascendant saddle and I’ll clear the whole thing. Leave with 3-4k cementing paste and my frog barley loses any hp.
Barry is still undefeated
Snow cave i just used 3 good barys, they heal alone eating fish, guess what this cave have tons? Salmons.... Gg
I did and do the direwolves tactic with some dimorphordons, we screw the cave. The rest i concur.
You a chad💪
I find the giga monke best for the redwood cave. 2 of them if possible, or a frog as a secondary for cemnting paste.
if that thing fits, it's an amazing choice. 👍
I used a Baryonyx for all of them except the swamp one
north west cave been doing it naked in official pve server, the large gap after artifact just need to sprint no jump just sprint
Thanks for the tip!
You can 100% use a tuso with even a decent saddle on both the sea caves.
.snow cave we run deadons to heal each other and throw grenade to get to you come out of ground
The baryonyx does fit in the upper South cave
in the last cave.. just graple to the top cange to pumpgun or bow and kill all things ^^
You can certainly do that, but you need to bring TONS of ammo. I think the yuty strat is both faster and more enjoyable :)
@@SpartacusSurvives maby 🙃
screw using dinos in snow. just build a turret box with 4 heavy turrets set to wild. lure shit to it and build a new one every now and then as you progress. this cave sucks.
For PVP yes...but pve playera cant build on caves
@@cristhianjuarez7065you can change the settings on single player

Diga-me é possível um único urso causar mais que 400 de dono? Perdi 5 Bary bem na entrada da Hard Ice Cave.
Did they seal the shortcut on the upper south cave from the ruin where the dinosuchus are in your clip straight over that pool up to the artifact?
It's not sealed, you can still hook your way to the artefact.
@@SpartacusSurvives brilliant, I heard they sealed the swamp cave/brute shortcut though I don't have ASA yet to check. I never used it but was going to for ASA
You don't need grapples. I got my Bary out of the water there, dismounted, and then walked/jumped up to get to the artifact.
I got my baryonyx through the snow cave but what really messed me up was those damn Purlovias that was my doom. Then knocked me off the mount and ganked me(every other creature I could handle fine)..
Yeah, that's why I like the yuty better. When you get stuned, you remain on his back.
@SpartacusSurvives I will give that a try I have a mid grade Yuty, so will bring him instead.
Nice thing about the Bary is all the huge fish to eat = heals quickly. But they do get knocked back by just about everything in that cave. I brought a good one in with about 12 dimorphidons but they didnt make it very far with sub 3k health.
Can Megatherium fit through any of these caves or is it strictly by cryopod only? I see you mentioned that Megatherium is recommended for lava cave but baryonyx works too. Thanks in advance!
Megatheriums can't really access any caves in ascended without cryopods. In Evoloved, they were good for the North East cave and the swamp cave. Once they add cryos this month, you will be able to use it.
@@SpartacusSurvivesgot it, thanks!
I use a frog in most caves and i the upper south cave i built a massive tower so my frog can get down
North west cave you can exit without a grpple hook - when you get to the artifact just run straight over the gap (dont jump, it will kill you) and go out. u can do it with flak and a pike easily - otter for 2nd artifact pick up
breeding in the snow cave is the worst recommendation atleast on official that is clearly no option...just run it naked, learn the run and youll get bps and artifact every time, way simpler and more fun
Good to know👍
I used to do this back in 2017-18 with a pack of raptors and 200% movement speed 😂
I just did it on foot with 200 movement speed, focal chile, and custom food. Now the purlovia are a nightmare.
Cryopods are gonna get added later this month
Man. I just got my ass kicked in the West water cave. Wish I had seen this video first as I was not riding my basilo and was wondering why it was just sitting there taking hits.

Thanks, man! Love the feeling when you get so many comments you can't keep up with them😁
I am not sure if it is still working but wasn't the arthropleura undetectable for other dinosaur? I remember seeing a video where someone used it to simply slip past everything.
Only works on ark mobile.
@@SpartacusSurvives they said the same for the scorpion yet when i entered a cave on one they almost killed it (but thankfully i got the artifact)
FYI the Bary in this video says level 240, so don't try and run it with your level 76 Bary!!
Carnotaurus can enter in snow cave. 200 armour and grenade and you pass the snow cave. But i assume raising yuti is better
Well, thanks to the scare roar, sheer stats, and the fact that you don't fall down if purlovias stun you make the yuty strat worth the hustle of raising the yuty in the cave.

well you have some super sabers there. but i think you already need yutys anyways, for kibble farm and for boss fights. so personally I don't think hatching an egg there is too much of a hustle.

I suppose that only works if you allow cave building in the settings, right?

raasclark uses a frog in the swamp
I saw that, but I found an even better option. Update this week.
if you use a frog and go in naked except for a gas mask the Arthropleura won't break your mask. frogs merc all the bugs in that cave with instant kill tongue lashes
I take it you're not getting the same amount of megalodon spawns in lost faith as I am? 40k HP & 20k HP basilos got deleted in minites with the sheer amount of megalodons in the first room on our first attempt. Tried to count once, and it's like 40+ megalodons, a couple alpha megs, and an alpha mosasaur.
Nope...not at all honestly. The ocean is filled with megs though, but both underwater ceves seamed more chill than in ASE when i tested them.
Just swim past them! I clear both water caves on a lvl 110 basi I named suicidal cave runner lol. The sharks do good damage that’s why I just swim past them and if there’s any in the artifact I just lure them away and swim back and grab artifact.
Yeah, I learned the hard way, I got my Basilo deleted...
Gonna try with a dolphin.
Dunno man... think u are novelinzing water caves too much xD I ran both with a lvl 120 diplocalus hahaha
It's certainly doable, but it's too dangerous for newer players, in my opinion.
Lost Hope Cave ain't sweet, that one shred a 60k Basilo of mine with about 60 armor in the entrance, in under a minute.
Lost faith made me think it was gonna be doable to fight them but now I rather avoid fighting the mobs in that cave.
Use heavy turrets to clear ice cave

@@thejudderman2786 ahh, ok. I was going to lose my mind if allos couldn't enter while the dire bear can't :)))

Megalanias are good to the caves?
Yes and no. They have average stats, but their attack is quite lackluster. However, their ability to walk on walls and ceilings could be really handy if you have some good ranged weapons. And they are pretty decent swimmers, imo. Bats will still be a problem tough.
If I tame two high level megalanias and if I make a creation and try to get some mutations, do you think I can make the caves with megalania from this creation, including a good saddle. I also noticed that deinosuchus is spawning in caves, or is it just me?
You probably can, with the exception of the snow and underwater cave. If you also use ghillie suit and bug repellant, you might be able to get some artefacts without even fighting.

Just a note: If you're playing in single player, you absolutely CAN use cryopods with a mod. Personally, I can't stand Ark without them.
This is true, but I think a lot of people would want to give ark without cryopods a shot
Ark with cryos is a fundamentally different game and while I have found enjoyment playing with cryos, I think it's way more fun without them, in every regard.
I am finding it much more enjoyable to take this unique approach without cryopods. In single player, there’s little challenge most of the time so I’ll enjoy the podless experience until they decide to release them again. Something is weirdly enjoyable about escorting a creature across the map to my base (unless they’re agonizingly slow in both land and water).
Can you imagine a server full of people all trying to raise and then leave dinos in the snow cave...? This cave is obsurd.
Indeed :)))))
By the time I'm ready to attempt this cave, cryopods will be a thing. Heck, even Ark2 will probably be released!
The baryonyx can still leave the upper south cave, you just gotta build a few platforms.
Not possible to build in caves, unless you specifically enable it for your private server or in single player mode.

Dude the scuba mask does not work, I was still taking damage.
You need FULL scuba gear and some gauntlets or a gas mask.
How would a scuba Mask help you not take damage lmao, youre still inhaling the air 😂😂😂 You need either Gas Mask or scuba tank + some scuba gear
@@gamersreactions9267 bro, I know it makes 0 sense, I'm just telling him what worked for me :)))
3 parts scuba gear + 2 ghillie is needed
all you need is a Gas mask, if you dont wear anything else the arthros wont even break your mask so you can just ride a frog or other mount in there. watched my cousin solo that cave about a dozen times now
What the heck is GG?
Good game. In this case, it's a way to say your game has ended because you're dead:))
