What's funny is that he's partnered/affiliated with GameTrailers which is a site that's owned by Viacom and the copyright takedown was actually made by Viacom. His channel went back up, but my guess is that he was concentrating on the Cinemassacre channel instead and either let the second copyright takedown stand or he just suspended his own account simply because he only wanted one channel for his brand.
What I really hate about it despite that I already hate everything about it is : IT IS BROKEN AS HELL. I mean in some of my videos I use this COPYRIGHT FREE song from Video Copilot's product, Pro Scores and it says CONTENT ID CLAIM. I contact Video Copilot, and they had no idea and they never claiming any videos, so it's definetely youtube's fault. I mean youtube can make both innocent 3rd party almost suing each other. If I want to sue video copilot, I really can, coz it's misleading the License Agreement where it says "copyright free" product and then they claim it as copyright? But of course I knew it's not them, but I am just saying if I want to sue them, I can... That's how terrible the new system is... so broken, and so stupid... And the fact that they gave ENTIRE money from the ads of our videos to the 3rd party content without even sparing us, eventhough we only use like 3 seconds of visual and music,,,, THAT SUCKS.

At that day a lot of channels has been filled with links to: porn, virus, self advertising and spam. Now its the same! Most of the big companies dont make these claims. Its the youtube that makes them automatically. There are companies suing google for this and I hope they win.

Thanks a lot for the video, I've been on youtube for 8 years making piano tutorials and covers, and now it's a joke - even if I just show 3 chords some asshole seems to be manually claiming it as theirs. Now they have a new trick seeing as I am "allowed" to share in their ad revenue - they put a content match and farm it out to 7 or 8 "publishing companies" or "Rights Management" agencies, so I'll just get an eighth of the revenue. Every single dispute gets automatically rejected, I'm nervous to take it to the next level and risk a strike. Complete joke.
I think people should boycott TH-cam... have as many people as possible all agree to not post content and not view any youtube videos for at least a full day, possibly even until Google undoes the content ID changes. A big enough response like this should make them at least reconsider

Yah Alpha I been talking about this too, in the anime community it was hitting us pretty bad on the copyrights but now in gaming community it's far worse. I can see a lot of jumping ship by the end of this month.

my content pretty much was removed by Sega/CA for the total war series for beginners, when they wanted to make their own all of a sudden my channel was attacked with copyright material. So yeah I refuse to do video's anymore. Hope youtube turns into a myspace graveyard.
Remember that many companies are on your side. Capcom, Blizzard, UbiSoft, Deep Silver and a million indie developers have said that they don't agree with this. Blizzard even wants you to contact them if you receive a copyright notice so they can get it removed as soon as possible.

Ok I am going to level with you, honestly the best thing you can do is to gather the biggest channels, networks, and content creators and get them and their viewers to start a boycott of youtube. I understand that some people use the sight to make a living but the only way you will get a real reaction is to stop as much traffic to the site as possible and hit youtube in the ad income.
The real issue is that Copyright laws are ... far to dated, to be fairly applied to interactive media such as video games. The real problems are the Music and Movie associations abusing copyright claims, along with patent trolls. Google/YT need help and this isn't good over all, but this honestly isn't something Google wanted to do, as they aren't even that stupid.
90% of the games I own I would not have bout if it wasn't for lets plays and game play breakthroughs. So if the game industry wants less of my money that's fine by me.
The problem is the "guilty until proven innocent" process. There needs to be repercussions for false copyright claims. Like 3 strikes and that company can't have things taken down anymore until they're investigated. Let's face it everywhere you turn the biggest thing stifling creativity and innovation is copyright law and patents. They really need a serious overhaul in today's age.
I think taking music off TH-cam is a stupid idea that was not very thought out. If I hear a song I like on TH-cam, I look up the artist. If I like the artist, I buy their CD. If there's no music on TH-cam, how the fuck am I supposed to see if I like an artist or not?
I completely agree. Yes, while some may abuse it and just liten to the music day in and day out without ever supporting the band/artist, there are people like you and me who have bought more albums than we would have had we not been able to preview them on here.
Gary Coffman Well said. I can easily say that 99% of the albums I own, I own because I discovered the artist here on TH-cam. I know there are a few that do this, but I don't just go to the music store and randomly pick out a CD based off the cover or something.. I like to hear at least some of the music on it. I can spend several hours a day just browsing through music on TH-cam and end up buying albums because of it.

Seriously send them mail, send them letters saying exactly what you think of this. Not just that also use the "contact us" link for google itself under "about us" and send them your thoughts in physical copy. The one responsible for this bullcrap is SALAR KARAMANGAR, he's the google lacky in charge of youtube so he's the one passing this crap, use the links and send him exactly what you think in physical form! It sounds weak i know but look how many of us hate this, 1000's, millions, how many trucks of hate mail can they ignore before they're swamped. Do enough and the press will notice and something will be forced to be done!

Letsplays are the main thing that gets me to buy games these days because I trust them much more than most mainstream reviewers. I know the game industry will lose a lot of cash if letsplays leave TH-cam

I find it funny how youtube is flagging videos for copyright when a majority of game developers are perfectly fine and actually support people monetizing their videos, such as Valve and Blizzard.
I'm surprised barely any people talked about the 144p setting. Playback is now a massive annoyance and sometimes the quality setting just goes ape-shit and disables every option, resulting in an error. And it's not like it's a very good option either: everything looks like an Atari 2600 game and the sound is messed up, as if they expect some old fart with Pentium 1 and dial-up to use TH-cam. The worst part is that some videos actually don't have that option for whatever reason, and everything works perfectly fine! Just...Why?
IMO, all the videos fall under fair use - you're transforming the content for comment and critique and capital, in result or attempt, does not disqualify fair use. I've tried to monetize my remixes which use copyright footage. No word yet on that...
There's two issues here. First, that Google deployed a tool that flags game videos it deems as infringing, almost all of which are the Let's Play videos. Obviously, any software can be tweaked and Google would rather err on the safe side and shut most of it down. Easier on them. There ARE game publishers who are not happy about this, and have embraced the Let's Play genre. However, from Google's standpoint, if there is no consensus, like I said, it's easier for them to just ban all of it. Something weird just happened with my video. I uploaded a manga review and TH-cam claimed it had a song owned by a third party even though I covered it myself and I made all content. I used some images of the manga, but scarcely. I even put in the Fair Use act thing. I deleted my vid and reuploaded it. Now it's not copyrighted. Huh.

Everyone, Maker Studios just bought out Blip.tv. Maybe if most of the big gaming channels started posting all their videos on Blip and just made announcement videos on TH-cam, we could take enough viewers away from the site that Google would HAVE to get their heads out of their asses and actually fix ALL of these problems. This whole gaming youtube debacle that has been going on lately. I've had a lot of time to look and think about the issue. Its really hard to come to an accurate conclusion of how I feel about the entire situation because I see valid points on both sides of the argument. I can only come up with three major points regarding everything that has happened. 1. ) No job is truly invincible. Everybody will feel the sting of being unemployed at least once in their lives. If you think you can work at the same job for the rest of your life than your being delusional, and please understand that working a job you absolutely love is a luxury that a lot of people don't get to experience. Be grateful if you ever get to experience an opportunity such as this one. It is your responsibility when it comes to your real life responsibilities to always hope for the best, but also prepare for the worse. Everybody needs a back up plan in order to deal with any horrible situation that comes your way. 2.) Copyright laws need to change in such a way that can be beneficial to both parties. 3.) Most importantly, Greed often destroys the things that we love and appreciate the most. As much as people want to blame greed on strictly the corporations, greed when it comes to video games and video game culture has been shown in developers, publishers, and even gamers themselves. I get the feeling the industry would be so much better off if individual people and companies just weren't so damn greedy.

Maybe Google's thought process is that since the top-selling video game series don't need any creativity (I'm looking at Call of Duty the most), then neither does TH-cam.
I have been using TH-cam since 2006 when it was actually good, but every year since then it has gotten worse and worse and when they started adding ads on every video I nearly stopped using it, but the new comment system is ridiculous. I barely use it any more and at some point probably wont bother at all. Please Google stop fucking up youtube.

Even though we're not monetized or connected to a MCN, we're still worried as fuck about what's gonna happen to us. Maybe we'll amount to nothing, but maybe we'll grow so large we can monetize and earn revenue for us AND TH-cam... but if they shut us down, obviously YT will never know what money they COULD have had. We had a big plan for an awesome video thanking our 500 subscribers, and dealing with several different games.. and now, because of this shit, we're worried about doing it mainly because, why spend a week working on a video just for these assholes to reject it because of a 10-second clip or some shit? Now they have a new trick seeing as I am "allowed" to share in their ad revenue - they put a content match and farm it out to 7 or 8 "publishing companies" or "Rights Management" agencies, so I'll just get an eighth of the revenue. Remember that many companies are on your side. Capcom, Blizzard, UbiSoft, Deep Silver and a million indie developers have said that they don't agree with this. Blizzard even wants you to contact them if you receive a copyright notice so they can get it removed as soon as possible.

Ok I am going to level with you, honestly the best thing you can do is to gather the biggest channels, networks, and content creators and get them and their viewers to start a boycott of youtube. I understand that some people use the sight to make a living but the only way you will get a real reaction is to stop as much traffic to the site as possible and hit youtube in the ad income.
The real issue is that Copyright laws are ... far to dated, to be fairly applied to interactive media such as video games. The real problems are the Music and Movie associations abusing copyright claims, along with patent trolls.

Like 3 strikes and that company can't have things taken down anymore until they're investigated. I think taking music off TH-cam is a stupid idea that was not very thought out. If I hear a song I like on TH-cam, I look up the artist. If I like the artist, I buy their CD. If there's no music on TH-cam, how the fuck am I supposed to see if I like an artist or not?
I completely agree. Yes, while some may abuse it and just liten to the music day in and day out without ever supporting the band/artist, there are people like you and me who have bought more albums than we would have had we not been able to preview them on here.

I know there are a few that do this, but I don't just go to the music store and randomly pick out a CD based off the cover or something.. I like to hear at least some of the music on it. Seriously send them mail, send them letters saying exactly what you think of this. Not just that also use the "contact us" link for google itself under "about us" and send them your thoughts in physical copy. The one responsible for this bullcrap is SALAR KARAMANGAR, he's the google lacky in charge of youtube so he's the one passing this crap, use the links and send him exactly what you think in physical form! It sounds weak i know but look how many of us hate this, 1000's, millions, how many trucks of hate mail can they ignore before they're swamped. Do enough and the press will notice and something will be forced to be done!

I find it funny how youtube is flagging videos for copyright when a majority of game developers are perfectly fine and actually support people monetizing their videos, such as Valve and Blizzard.
I'm surprised barely any people talked about the 144p setting. Playback is now a massive annoyance and sometimes the quality setting just goes ape-shit and disables every option, resulting in an error. And it's not like it's a very good option either: everything looks like an Atari 2600 game and the sound is messed up, as if they expect some old fart with Pentium 1 and dial-up to use TH-cam.
The worst part is that some videos actually don't have that option for whatever reason, and everything works perfectly fine!

IMO, all the videos fall under fair use - you're transforming the content for comment and critique and capital, in result or attempt, does not disqualify fair use. I've tried to monetize my remixes which use copyright footage. No word yet on that...
There's two issues here. First, that Google deployed a tool that flags game videos it deems as infringing, almost all of which are the Let's Play videos. Obviously, any software can be tweaked and Google would rather err on the safe side and shut most of it down. Easier on them.
There ARE game publishers who are not happy about this, and have embraced the Let's Play genre. However, from Google's standpoint, if there is no consensus, like I said, it's easier for them to just ban all of it. Without publisher consent, Let's Play videos are not fair use.

Something weird just happened with my video. I uploaded a manga review and TH-cam claimed it had a song owned by a third party even though I covered it myself and I made all content. I used some images of the manga, but scarcely. I even put in the Fair Use act thing. I deleted my vid and reuploaded it. Now it's not copyrighted. Huh.

This whole gaming youtube debacle that has been going on lately. I've had a lot of time to look and think about the issue. Its really hard to come to an accurate conclusion of how I feel about the entire situation because I see valid points on both sides of the argument. I can only come up with three major points regarding everything that has happened.
1. ) No job is truly invincible. Everybody will feel the sting of being unemployed at least once in their lives. If you think you can work at the same job for the rest of your life than your being delusional, and please understand that working a job you absolutely love is a luxury that a lot of people don't get to experience. Be grateful if you ever get to experience an opportunity such as this one. It is your responsibility when it comes to your real life responsibilities to always hope for the best, but also prepare for the worse. Everybody needs a back up plan in order to deal with any horrible situation that comes your way.
2.) Copyright laws need to change in such a way that can be beneficial to both parties.
3.) Most importantly, Greed often destroys the things that we love and appreciate the most. As much as people want to blame greed on strictly the corporations, greed when it comes to video games and video game culture has been shown in developers, publishers, and even gamers themselves. I get the feeling the industry would be so much better off if individual people and companies just weren't so damn greedy.

I have been using TH-cam since 2006 when it was actually good, but every year since then it has gotten worse and worse and when they started adding ads on every video I nearly stopped using it, but the new comment system is ridiculous. Our channel just started this summer... we've only got a little over 500 subs, but we're trying to grow. Guys like you, AJ, AVGN, etc really inspired us. Even though we're not monetized or connected to a MCN, we're still worried as fuck about what's gonna happen to us. Maybe we'll amount to nothing, but maybe we'll grow so large we can monetize and earn revenue for us AND TH-cam... but if they shut us down, obviously YT will never know what money they COULD have had.
We had a big plan for an awesome video thanking our 500 subscribers, and dealing with several different games.. and now, because of this shit, we're worried about doing it mainly because, why spend a week working on a video just for these assholes to reject it because of a 10-second clip or some shit?
Hope these idiots get their shit together SOON and backtrack on this. :-(
