This movie is very realistic, showing rebels dying, though it is a bit bias towards the rebellion army, but still, expecting heroes to survive but yet they are still normal people meaning they can die.
Actually, rebels takes place before the events of rogue one. But only if it's canon to the story, which it isnt because anakin isn't critically burned in rebels, which brings the question as to why he wears his suit.

Bistan survived the u wing crash but died when he was surrounded by death troopers and then wile the death troopers were shooting at him he immediately died when a tie fighter crashed there so all the death troopers, and Bistan turned in to dust and smoke. A X-wing caused the tie fighter to crash.
i honestly thought during the scene at 1:58 the rebels were gonna pull a saving private ryan and absolutely mow all the storm troopers down. Clearly not the case
