When Anakin kills Merrick you can hear the disappointment in Obi-Wan’s voice that Anakin accepted being immoral killer. If it was Obi-Wan saving Tarkin from Osi Sobek he probably would’ve just pulled him back with the force. But since it’s Anakin’s student she acts like him and goes straight for the kill

(Also the reason the body was so broken and deteriorated. The clone body had trouble containing Palpatine's massive power.)

Plus it was a self sacrifice to save Hera and the rest. And the explosion also caused the empire a huge loss, which helped the rebels win in the end. And the music makes it all more gut-wrenching😣
