- The all-new Hyundai i20 N is finally here! I'm beyond excited to review this car; its a cheap, fire-breathing hot hatch that comes fully loaded and sounds awesome - what's not to love? In today's in-depth review, I'm going to walk you through the entire car both on-road and on-track (with a 0-100km/h run!) and I'll give you my honest thoughts on this hot hatch pocket rocket!

Totally love mine. Had it since beginning of September (living in Europe) and is still looking forward to every time I need to go somewhere in it. To me it's a bit of a gem. Sort of like an 'old school hot hatch reimagined with 2021 technology'. BTW if needed it can actually driven pretty frugal though of course there is a big temptation to go N-mode all the time :)
I agree, it's a genious little car. One thing is missing in my opinion, the adaptive suspension should be an option, at least as an extra. People would select it like a choco dessert.
At times you enjoy a video not because you necessarily like the car but simply due to seeing how the reviewer is having so much fun. Awesome review as always Matt 🔥🔥🔥🔥

You've made a great choice! Definitely track the damn thing!
Give it till around 1500-2000kms. Let it wear in a little bit more. I have a Kia stinger GT and I waited till 2,000 before I unleashed it. No regrets at all, gears are so smooth.

11:00 My grandmother could set off quicker and also he short shifts both gears. It can hit way over 60mph in second gear.
Nice review! Saw one of these in person last week up in Brisbane - the front end looks great (having major Audi vibes haha), but I’m not a fan of the rear at all, I don’t find it appealing…

1:05 What's up with the damaged fins on the intercooler? How many miles does that particular car have?
It was definitely slightly damaged, but more dirty than anything else haha. This one had about 3000kms on it :)
I’ll choose the analog dials on the i30N any day over the digital dials.
I don't know man, having spent a lot of time with both I'm loving the digital ones! Though I will say, having the physical shift lights is better :)

I want one but this has 204bhp with 275nm torque stock and the ford fiesta ST has 200bhp and 320nm of torque... Sooo I can't chooses it looks like the ST is faster as it's got more torque?
The ST has more midrange, on highs the i20 N is definitely faster. A portuguese youtuber tried to race the ST vs the i20 N, I stamped it if u wanna check it out, since the review is in portuguese. They are starting it from around 70 km/h. th-cam.com/video/SNhd2m9YPQ8/w-d-xo.html
And the mad thing is, RaceChip have developed a tune which develops another 35kws and 100nms of torque! Still want that Fiesta ST??
stock 2022 mk8.5 ford ST is 200 bhp, 320nm that stock is 204bhp 275nm
I'll stick with my Fiesta ST but great job Hyundai and love the review

@@Chappers.Gaming I wouldn't pick one over the other based on specs...these aren't cars you buy for straight line speed although they are quite quick from 2nd gear
@@Chappers.Gaming doubt it. The i20n slaps the fiesta in everything except for rolling starts and the trouble is the extra torque for the face-lift fiesta is in a more narrow band and without a power change. Half of this extra torque would be lost to wheel spin off the line anyway as it has less front end grip than the i20n. It was already almost half a second slower to 60 than the i20n so can't see this small performance increase bridging that gap much. Maybe down to two tenths behind.
@@jamesbarnes8338 The thing is that the Fiesta ST is built not for numbers, but for emotion. The i20n is definitely built for the car magazine back page, gearing for 0-60 times, tied down rear end and all, whereas the Fiesta is about in gear acceleration, it requires a change to 3rd to get to 60, which makes the sprint seem less attractive, it has bucket loads of lift off oversteer, and it's engine sounds wicked.

In Europe it comes standard with an 8inch infotainment that offers wireless carplay but when you upgrade to the 10.25inch it apparently becomes wired… Why? Beats me…

I think your drag was wrong. I20N has a 0 60 mph or 0 100 = 6.2
yes 6.2 second is factory time. I think this video probably take off without launch control.
Is the i30N or Kona N worth the $20k more?
Look they’re faster no doubt, but they couldn’t keep up with one of these on a track. Also i30 N has an average sound system, which would almost be a deal breaker for me haha
@@CarSauce hmm. I'm really torn. I have a deposit on an i20n but with the wait, I could keep saving and go the kona or i30n. I will probably only track it twice a year or so.
i ordered i20n in 3 months ago for $37k for black. i20n is faster in the track than i30n. I30n and kona N is faster on the daily road than i20N. They are over $50k than i20n cheap $38k. i20n is good fun on daily road and cheap.
Love this car but not selling GR Yaris for it.

Yeah look the GR Yaris is objectively the better hatch, but there is something so childishly fun about the i20 N :P

Look at the track times stock for stock the i20n is just as good if not faster and around 15k cheaper

Top review Matt, yet again 😁👍🏽. The styling not to my liking, i30N hatch for me 😁. In saying that why the fark did Hyundai give the i20N and the Kona N awesome audio systems yet the i30N gets stock crap! WTF Hyundai!

The good thing about that colour is people know it's an N car from a distance and these cars are new and uncommon enough people will probably give you a wave or subtle nod as you drive by. def pop back and keep us updated how it is for you. Still convincing the significant other about getting one myself at some point. 😅

I’d maintain that you’d buy this as a toy, to rip around on tracks, not really as a daily or family lugger. You could, but most likely wont’t, considering the Cerato GT and i30 N-Line are roughly the same price.
My choice was between the Cerato GT and this.. I20N won though.. Cerato is a good cruiser but doesn't engage you. This thing is such a drivers car it's hard to say no.

@@ljp1942 Mine is a daily. If you've got 3 kids then you'll want something else but apart from that it drives like any other hatch does in normal mode albeit a bit firmer.

Let’s not take away it’s the same hard plastics and same engine as the Veloster turbo premium you were pretty hard on.
I’ve got the 2020 Veloster Turbo, I’ve only done 8,000km on it. I was going to “upgrade” to this i20N and I’ve put a deposit on one but now I’m having second thoughts 🤔

There is no such thing as "the best" while hot hatches exist in different categories. My favourite? i30 N. Objectively the best performer? Toyota GR Yaris Rallye. The Veloster Turbo was substantially more expensive and when compared to the i30 N Line, was not a good value proposition.

its km/h. This review always wrong in 0-100km/h test. its supposed to be 6.2 second
The testers don't hold second gear for long enough, it is capable of 100 in second.

Unfortunatly in Australia this thing will be a rip off so i dont think it will be as good sales wise as some people are making out. Everytime a new car comes into australia dealers overprice the shit out of it.
Hyundai are still struggling to keep up with orders and are only selling preorders for them atm. The original 500 car allocation was increased to 600 due to demand.
Most states drive away price $36k-$37.5k depending on colour options
@@toddxhiggins Wow thats way too much. I think covid has sent all these car dealers crazy . I doubt they are selling as well as youtube reviewers and media make out . remember at the end of the day they have to say that to hype them up and try and sell them.
I ordered mine in February so about 1 month ago and it's not due to arrive till May but I only paid $33,990 drive away. You can get them down on price.

If you watch the time on the video he does 0-100 in basically 6 seconds. They hit 100kph at through of second gear. 10:38 to 10:44.
