    Thank You! I replaced the foam in my favourite knitting chair, with an extra firm. The upholster fellow chucked when I left the store. I knew it would be difficult I got home and tried to put the cover on without wrecking the zipper. Tried twice and soon realized there has to be a solution, it’s foam it has to compress. did a you tube search and I found you. With my husbands help we did it with your instruction. You mad my day, very nice of you to share this trade secret.

    WOW!! Am I glad I found this video. I spilled something on my fairly new sofa cushion. I removed the cushion cover, washed in in cold Woolite on gentle. but when it came time to put the cover back on I was in tears!! There was no way my cushion cover would go back on. Then I found your handy video and ran to the store - bought some jumbo trash bags, used my vacuum to suck the air air and I was so happy when my cushion slipped easily into the cover!! So thank you so much for sharing this video with all of us.

    OMG just found your video. Followed your direction and it worked perfectly. Now I don't have to wait for 2 people to struggle to put the cushions back into their covers. Thank you so much for sharing!

    Our new foam cushions are a massive improvement over the cheap ones that came with the furniture and your video worked a treat. It was really satisfying shrinking them. Thank you Dave and Linda ❤

    kinda brilliant! thanks for posting. It was looking for a minute that the cushion would continue contracting until it vanished. That would have been astonishing and would have implied an alternate universe full of cushion foam.

    A good logical explation, very well described. Thank you for making the task so easy.

  • @learntocrochet1

    Well explained, thank you!. This is certainly easier initially than how we used to do it 20 years ago. We sewed a cover for the foam using sew-in interfacing. The value of the old method is that the cushion slides OFF for washing as simply as it slides on using your method. The interfacing does not need to be sewn as the cushion is - just whip stitch it well enough that it stays.

    Will this work on impact reducing memory foam please? It was expensive and I’m worried about damaging it.

    • @davidjordan3920
      @davidjordan3920 ปีที่แล้ว

      The film just creates a sealed bag around the foam and the vacuum just extracts the air, its really no different than the vacuum bags that you can shrink clothes down when packing. We've used the film when shrinking our memory foam down but if you have bought your foam from elsewhere I don't know if there is anything specific about it that would prevent you from using the film, you'd need to check with your supplier

    Would this way work with feather cushions?

    • @foamcushion2765
      @foamcushion2765  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes it does but it doesn't work quite so well as it removes the air from the cushion and we've found that the density of the feathers means they don't compress quite as much.

    Great video thank you, but I am trying to find a way of drying a sponge cushion that I have washed in the bath. I've tried leaving it in the sun to dry and a hot car. Iv'e tried wrapping it in towels and jumping up and down on it and finally using a dehumidifier in the car with the sponge cushion. I managed to collect a pint of water after two days. NOTHING seems to really work as it is still really heavy. I am wondering if this vacuum would squeeze out the water and maybe a towel would then soak up the water? Or maybe you have a different approach? Please help!

      Drying foam can be difficult, personally, I have found that just hanging the cushion up and letting gravity do its work over a few days has worked for me but here is one video (nothing to do with us) that shows quite an extreme method th-cam.com/video/G6xxaPcV9yY/w-d-xo.html

      Maybe use the same method with a shop vac and suck all the water out that way .

      @@foamcushion2765 Thanks I ended up letting nature take its course after trying all these methods. I do like the idea of the foam squisher though 😂. Thank you 👍

      @TimHollingworth 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@marcosrhecker412 Yes I was very creative. Didn't go as far as the foam squisher but did contemplate a home made centrifuge for a mad moment.🤔 Thanks for your help. 👍

    • @Rick-the-Swift
      @Rick-the-Swift 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TimHollingworth If it happens again, I was going to suggest hanging the cushion in a small area, like a closet or shower stall with a small portable space heater, maybe with a fan. Just crack the door a little so it can ventilate and it will be bone dry within a day or two tops.
      I've done multiple basement and indoor flood restorations. Plenty of heat and proper ventilation is always the key to a fast dry out for any soaked material.

    • @foamcushion2765
