- Latin Grammy-winning, Flor de Toloache is a New York Based all-female mariachi that continues to win the hearts of both progressive and traditional mariachi fans alike through their distinct artistic vision and sophisticated, enlightened interpretation of traditional mariachi instruments. The group’s diverse ethnicities and musical backgrounds have also transcended culture and gender by forging new paths. Like the legendary Love Potion the Toloache flower is used for in Mexico, the ladies of Flor de Toloache cast a spell over their audiences with soaring vocals and physical elegance. Cofounders Mireya Ramos and Shae Fiol are joined on-stage by Noemi Gasparini, Jacqueline Coleman and Amanda Lozano. The group is led by co-band directors Mireya I. Ramos on violin and Shae Fiol on vihuela. Together, they have graced international stages from Chenai, India to Paris, France and have extensively toured the U.S. as supporting act for Dan Auerbach of “The Black Keys”’ new project “The Arcs", as well as Cafe Tacvba, La Santa Cecilia, and Natalia Lafourcade. Upcoming shows include the ACL Festival in Austin TX, Alaska tour with Ozomatli and dates with Ana Tijoux. TEDx Talks A Fusion Group, better than anything else.
I also found this group and this performance because of Duo-Lingo. And Yes/Si LOVE. Their music is wonderful. My only comment goes to the camera person and video editors. I wanted to see 'all' of the women, if not all equally, at least some fair representation. I was saddened not to get to see the camera on the trumpet player except when presented as a group shot.

Por que a la gente que le gusta la buena música le escuchar en diferentes idiomas y generos. Aparte la buena música se disfruta con el corazón aun si no entiendes el idioma. 😉

Probablemente no tengas un amplio conocimiento de la música mexicana, o del mariachi en general. Por que cuentan con todos elementos tanto musicales, instrumentales y ni se diga la manera de cantar, las vocalistas principales es imposible no notar que tienen tecnica e interpretación para cantar. Solo por que no son Mexicanas no significa que no sepan o puedan intepretar la música regional mexicana. Un ejemplo claro es Chavela Vargas o Rocio Dúrcal. Y como decía mi abue, si no tienes nada bueno que decir mejor no digas nada, sobre todo si no sabes dar una OPINIÓN constructiva. Saludos!
