I visited here in 1971. I never visited again. Whenever I thought of it, or almost daily while driving thru Waterbury and seeing the large cross on the hill, it was always looking fresh and bright white. It's sad to see it in the state it's currently in, but I am so glad that they keep up the crosses. The wind in your video just highlights the desolation of much of the park, yet the upkeep at the top of the hill softens the feeling of loss. Thank you for taking the time to film it.
When I lived in Waterbury back in 06, I was told to never go up there. A friend said if I were in a car and the driver started going up there to jump out and walk back lol
There was a girl who was murdered there over the summer of 2010 when I was in high school, she sat in front of me in one of my classes. Turns out the person who did it was her male friend. Prior to that happening, Holy Land was becoming popular again but I never went there myself and don’t plan to.
To all those who worked on this project- I very much appreciate your efforts to preserve as much as you could of the original work. It wouldn't be Holy Land if you had tried to create something new, rather than preserve the old. Walking with the camera, It could have been sixty years ago all over again. The sound on the windy hills, the sweeping views of this historic city- a wonderful film in this wonderful place
Interesting but you might have said what it was in your tour. A lot of us pick this up on the tv and it does not tell you what it is. Just an idea on your next tour. I now Know what I was watching because I got on my lap top and called this up.
Great video - thank you! I read that you should contact the owners before visiting, and that the surrounding neighborhood is pretty sketchy. What did you think? And did you call ahead?
The neighborhood is sketchy, but not terrible. Holy Land USA has a website and it states that you are free to visit during daytime hours. There was no requirement or even suggestion that you need prior approval. I'm glad you liked the video.
I grew up on Rosewood Ave right at the bottom of the cliff under the cross. I never thought of it as that bad; certainly not compared to other places I've been. I guess by CT wealthy standards it's sketchy.

I remember it so well. Also remember Mr.Greco who was a close friend of my father.

I'm glad you liked it! It did feel rather desolate. I may go back some day and look more into its history. Thanks for watching!
My family and I visited this place in 1970. It was a wonderful place
Yeah, it's fascinating for sure. Thanks for watching.
It is hard to imagine Mary and Joseph living so close to a freeway lol.
You really have to use your imagination. Thanks for watching!
Wonderful! Great Virtual Tour! 👍👍😊😊 Amazing!
Thanks!
The cross says our lady of peace, all while encircled by razor wire.
Yeah, I thought that was kind of ironic.
It has been vandalized and that's why the razor wire is necessary.
I remember going there as a child.....how sad.
If you don't mind me asking, when would that have been? Was it still in full operation at the time?

Maybe at night, but in the full daylight it seemed fairly safe to me.
@@fleabittenadventures No..A haunting in Connecticut ?? Xd

I did not know that. It seems fairly safe during the day. I just would not go at night.
@@fleabittenadventures Yeah.. XD
Oh god
Exactly. Thanks for watching!
Such a strange and ugly place. Hopefully they have plans to demolish it along with the rest of Waterbury

My mom and I used to go there often. It was so beautiful back in the 60’s and 70’s. So sad to see how it is now
I would love to see photos or video of it in its heyday.
Checking this place out in July when I go to CT for the first time. Cant wait!
You should have seen it in all it's glory back in the 60's. I loved it when my folks would bring me there.
Did you end up checking it out in July? I've never been in the summer. I would imagine it's harder to see everything with all the vegetation.
I would love to see photos of this place in its heyday.
Thanks for the Upload 👍 !! Xd
You're welcome!
I love the downtown area in Waterbury and the Hancock Brook blue blazed hiking trail!
Never been to the Holyland area.
If you are in the area, you should check it out!

The darkest day in HOLY LAND'S history was when a young teen was brutally murdered near the Cross. Already 11yrs ago😔
I did not know about this when I went there. It seems safe during the day, but I wouldn't want to go at night.
What 50 yrs can do.
Yeah, it's pretty bad. Hopefully someone restores it someday! Thanks for watching!
the amount of times i passed the cross on the highway is crazy
I would recommend stopping and taking a look some day soon. It's decaying quickly.
@@fleabittenadventures i will, im a teen photographer and just got a 70s polaroid. might have to take photos
OMG abandonada
