    I can not believe the amount of equipment in these high schools. In my country we only had a building, rooms, and tables. NOTHING else. No instruments, no theater, no swimming pools, no library.... nothing. And they just leave everything behind.

    There is so much stuff that can be donated or repurposed in the hands of the right people. A large building like that must be needed some where or for some function. I love the the architecture and the nice long corridors. There are so many reasons to keep this building in good condition and reuse it for a purpose to benefit the community or surrounding areas.

    • @SkunkApe407
      @SkunkApe407 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The school was closed because it was falling into disrepair. It is generally cheaper to fix a building than it is to build a new one, so the building is most likely in such a condition that repairs would be expensive enough to make such a venture cost prohibitive. It would probably be better for the county to tear down the building an reuse the land for future public works projects.

    The county and state should be held accountable for the environmental waste that they've allowed. I'm sure bond money from property taxes paid for the new school, but homeowners should be aware of just how disgracefully they left perfectly usable stuff. Certainly, at the very least, books and desks could be donated to 3rd world countries where children beg to have school supplies.

    • @SkunkApe407
      @SkunkApe407 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Held accountable how? No laws were broken. You'd have a hard time proving injury to any party, making a lawsuit unlikely, as well. Sure it sucks that so much was left behind, but none of it classifies as environmental waste, either. You'd have to convince a judge that students were exposed to environmental waste while the school was open, in order to make that allegation stick.

    Such a shame, it's a really beautiful building. Seems like it would have cost less to fix this place up than to build a whole new school. Just so wasteful.

    It is amazing what gets left behind!!
    I would pay a fortune to get my hands on some the old rubber soccer balls, that are left behind at some of these abandoned schools, especially middle schools and High schools.
    Many of the sports balls are left behind, because they are so badly worn, flat, and old. I would love to get my hands on those old, rubber soccer balls, that are badly worn.
    I could only imagine the goldmines of vintage sports balls - including rubber soccer balls, that could be found, not only in North America, but in Europe as well.
    The reason I want those old rubber soccer balls is because they are so worn, and no two are alike. Some are so beat up from being used in soccer games year after year, they have a character onto them, from all the boot marks. Surprisingly, rubber soccer balls were commonly used in the 1970s and early 1980s, if the pitch was going to be wet or muddy

    It’s really sad to see places like this just wither away and rot. However, the biggest smack in the face is to the taxpayers to see all of the stuff left behind and also go to waste. Regardless of whatever state in America.

    When I was in primary school, the building became heritage listed, and so a new one was built, when it was time to move into the new school, we took everything and what couldn't be taken was donated or sold, nothing was left behind. So to see all those items left behind is absolutely disgusting. Americans always go on about how amazing their country is, but as an outsider looking in, the country is a sad mess.

    Hey y'all, loved this vid! This isn't just Bridgeport that's wasteful, just about all of CT is like that. I'm from Massachusetts but spent 10 crap years of my life in CT, one of the worst states going! TBH it didn't surprise me watching this. The school boards and DOE in that state leaves much to be desired. Do you have any vids in Worcester or Grafton? Grafton is my hometown and I spent a lot of years in Worcester. Living in NC now I don't have many opportunities to see my old stomping grounds!

    Sad part is. You know the Administration is sitting a state-of-the-art building. No question they could have moved into this school and closed/rented out their plush offices. They could have easily assigned an assistant assistant assistant administrator to work nights to inventory what was left behind. They could have traded those books to another district. I will bet you they simply ordered new ones. If nothing else. Simply deploy existing supplies into the new building as needed. The spotlight shown @ 17:33 is worth 1500 bucks scrapped. The mercury glass lenses can no longer be made. I am sure some government use could of been done. As a person who uses a 15 year old laptop. I will bet you any of those abandoned laptops would be far better than mine.
