  • Sharing a super simple way to get set up with CC's Essentials Curriculum. Not offering a lot of "copy this, copy that, move this here and that there". Trying to set you up in as simple a way as possible as you get started for the first time. Also includes a brief overview of how to use the curriculum and I show the IEW (writing) curriculum things and how to use those.
    A couple of notes:
    1) Do NOT have your student write in the Essentials curriculum. If there’s a page you’d like your student to write on (there will be many!) that’s your indication to decide whether to put in a sheet protector/laminate for use with a dry erase pen or make a copy. If the page will be used repeatedly, sheet protector/laminate may be your better option. Feel free to make notes in the curriculum for yourself though.
    2) Download a digital copy of the Student packet to easily print off blank charts and the editing pages HERE- ccconnected.co...
    3) CC's Essentials e-zine "Onward" contains awesome things for each week, including sample checklists, filled out charts, and extra practice. Check out Week 1's issue of Onward and print what you like! ccconnected.co...
    4) DO write in your IEW materials. You and your student. Make notes in your Teaching Writing Structure & Style notebook & History Based Writing Lesson Teacher’s Manual and plan to have your student write in their Student Book a lot as you follow the curriculum.

    Thank you for this video! It was so helpful to me. Can I ask what size binders you used?

    • @emilythehomeschooler
      @emilythehomeschooler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use 2 1.5 inch binders to divide the curriculum in half and I have a 1.5 inch binder for my student.

    Thank you for this! If you have multiple children doing essentials....can you scan and print the student portions again without buying another student one?

      Even better, the student packet is on CCConnected as a PDF to make it super easy to make copies.

    Do you recommend the IEW TEACHING WRITING STRUCTURE AND STYLE ( DVD & PREMIUM CONTENT) for newbies to help comprehend this technique ?

    • @emilythehomeschooler
      @emilythehomeschooler  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most definitely. It is a key part of being successful with the program. Each community owns a set of those DVDs and holds group viewings so you don’t have to own your own set if you don’t want to. Contact your director or essentials tutors to learn more about that.

    Is it possible to try CC for half a semester starting out to see if that will work. I’m trying to get my mind around how to incorporate CC with our already existing TG&TB curriculum.

    • @emilythehomeschooler
      @emilythehomeschooler  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You cannot pay for a partial year, but you can certainly drop out if it isn't working for you. It would be best to stick it out for the entire year before making a determination but certainly you can do what you want.

    Since you have two binders, did you order a second set of dividers?

    • @emilythehomeschooler
      @emilythehomeschooler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      no. CC sends all of the dividers, you see in this video, with the curriculum.
