    This is sooooo good. I was feeling overwhelmed by Essentials and this gave me a good starting place.

    Thank you for all you do for CC mamas and tutors! This is our first year in Essentials. First time Tutoring as well. I was wondering if you have an updated version of your shared documents for Cycle 1? Thank you?

      I remember having one and then our teacher sending home something about having to have one with a zipper because the sound of ripping open the Velcro ones was disrupting class 🤣

    Hey! Would you be wiling to share your new (reading) schedule if you're making one for 2023-2024? If you find a hot second in the busy-ness of life, of course :D

      I added a few books the first semester because several of them were a bit short. Here’s a link to the copies of the books we have as different versions may have different page number.

    Thank you so much for all of this video!! I aim to be more organized in our second year of homeschooling and this has been a great help.
    I was curious how you go about altering the schedual if something unexpected happens. For example, if a child is sick for a few days during the week, how do you manage the schedule you have already spent so much time on organizing?
    Thank you again so very much!!

    • @lovemrsc84
      @lovemrsc84  ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the work. If they are sick I try to do their reading aloud with them so they don’t get behind. If it’s memory work, instead of doing their worksheets we might just listen to it or watch some TH-cam videos. Some of the work we just have to skip or spend time another day making it up. If they were in public school the teacher may send some take home work but they also might just get an grade marked absent for the assignment. Was that clear as mud? 😄

    Thank you so much for sharing all these wonderful resources! Have you figured out how to find the foundations worksheets like they were on the old CCC? Like I'm looking for all grammar one page worksheets.. remember finding them was a lot easier!

    • @lovemrsc84
      @lovemrsc84  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I log in, go to the forum and straight up to the search bar and just type in the most basic search terms for what I am looking for. “Essentials worksheets” or “daily checklist” and then it’s just a matter of finding exactly what you want. The good news is when you find it you can ‘heart’ it and it will go to your favorites for easy access later!

    Hello. First time comment. My son will be Essential next year first time. He will be 4th grade. But I don’t know he is ready for Essential… I looked your each day schedule. I didn’t see any day for History. Did you focus only language art, math and Bible? And one day science? How long did you spend time study for Essential each day?

  • @jamiedewitt6389

    Thank you for this thorough video! Where do you find the suggested reading for Essentials? I can't seem to find the list.

    • @lovemrsc84
      @lovemrsc84  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you look in the front of the IEW book where it lays out the units and lessons, the last column is the suggested reading. There is one for each of the history based writing. I love it because there’s a few Ch A books spread throughout so they get a taste of those early!

    I love your memory work binder. Do you sit and review CC new grammar AND have them do these binders? If so how much time do you spend on that with them daily?

    • @jessicavivas6509
      @jessicavivas6509 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also on the Essentials notebook for the child... Is there a "solutions" or answer key for this as well or do you just check it daily??

    • @lovemrsc84
      @lovemrsc84  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure about an answer key- so far I haven’t needed it! I probably will, so I should check on that 😆
      I let my boys (both in foundations) sit at the desks with my iPad and use the app to go over memory work for the week each day. We listen to it as well but I don’t really sit down with them and work with them on it. I find the writing and quick review each day is enough for them.

    I see at least a couple of these books are on the challenge book lists. Do you recommend they read them during Essentials instead of saving them for the Challenge years for a reason?

    • @lovemrsc84
      @lovemrsc84  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Absolutely! It’s so great to go into challenge having already been exposed to the reading material. It allows them to focus more on the cause and effect of the character and their actions since they have already absorbed the characters, setting and plot!

    • @jessicastarrett202
      @jessicastarrett202 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I highly agree! My son is a first year Essential’s student. We have started listening to Challenge A books to have that exposure! He’s a reluctant reader so we use Audible. He’s enjoyed every book so far and requests we continue listening! It’s been incredibly rewarding to watch his love for these books, followed by watching the movies - if there is one.

    Do you pre-read the Essentials suggested readings? There was some talk in one of the fb groups that there may have been some questionable material. 🤷‍♀️

      @HannahSockwell 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I LOVE this idea of independence and working toward Challenge!!! Great stuff!

    • @lovemrsc84
      @lovemrsc84  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven’t preread them but I can’t imagine what would be questionable! This is the same cycle 2 material my daughter did. She didn’t read all of the books but the ones she did were totally fine. The only thing I can think of would be something about Lancelot and Guinevere in the King Arthur’s book? I usually talk with Henry after he reads just to check in and a) make sure he actually read and b) engage with him on what he is enjoying about the book. Hopefully I’m not missing anything, but I just can’t imagine Pudewa recommending something questionable 😊
