Tommy, thanks for showcasing what is one of my favourite countries in the world, after a lifetime of travels. I visited Eritrea a dozen or so times between 1997 and 2002, but due to the nature of my work, I will probably sadly not be able to go back in the near future. We ran a student empowerment project at the university of Asmara, and unfortunately most of the participants are now based in the US or in Europe, and last time I tried, I was denied a visa. I would love to visit again, I can feel the scorching heat of Massawa, the history of Keren and all the odd places in Asmara again. This and the previous video took me back 20 years, and also to other places, like Mendefera, Adi Quala, Dekamhare, Assab... Eritrea is a truly unique place, and is a main reason why I kept on travelling all my life.

In the late 90’s a lot of Eritrean women were given work visas in Las Vegas. I worked for a human resource company that was a medical part of that process so I interacted with easily a few hundred of them. They were extremely polite, respectful, and very witty. Many of them spoke more than 2 languages as well. Most of the women very fit and beautiful. They definitely stood out from other women from that continent.

And a brutal Dicatorship that doesn’t give us any freedom of speech. We have become regugees and immigrants. Nothing more nothing less. And people are so 🤐🤐🤐that you wouldn’t even hear about it. Cause all these patriotic Nazis gaslight you into silence. So Eritrea suffers in silence.

This is so sad to witness. I’m Eritrean and it kills me to see my country just slowly rotting away. Politics aside we should all agree that our people deserve better. Acceptance is the first step to change. Thank you Tommy for being honest and unbiased. God bless Eritrea and Eritreans!

Among other things, just a couple of years back, the "Bees" from Medri BaHri, saved the "Hive" from being destroyed by its "wild bees." Shortly we will witness a variety of honey being produced within the land of BaaHriNeghestat and definitely share with the unfortunate bees in the "Hive" that are not blessed with good "queens" that take care of their own.
its sad and true ... thats what happen when millitary rules in any country ... too bad our dictator betrayed his fellow mates patriots who were actually looking for the democracy and development of Eritrea.... now we are just beeing ruled by agame and the product of prostitutes. I miss my home town. I fled the country five months ago, never wanted to leave, but everything was suffocating and unbearable. Eritrea could have been and still could be one of the magnificent countries 😢. Just really hope for my people to have some kind of relief.
@@redfill68We could take over Eritrea. But after such a long time of not being allowed to think critically, many Eritreans started to develop a form of Stockholm Syndrom. They became the patriots or nationalists of Eritrea and continue to silence the truth. So the problem is not even the dictator anymore, it’s more the split amongst the people. We have become divided and passive bystanders, that’s kept us in shackles for over 3 decades now.
@@mimivistaverde5030 okay, dear! A lot of times, they don’t seem to give credits and don’t recognize the story behind our coffee ceremony. The Story is beautiful the same way the ceremony is. Anyways m, I hope you liked the Ethiopia coffee ceremony!
@@nunu7353 Lol, you're absolutely wrong and don't know the history of coffee. The first ppl who roasted and brewed coffee were the Turkish ...IN RED SEA, here in MASSAWA ERITREA. Evidence of it, till today both Eritrea and Ethiopians call the kettle we brew coffee as FINJAL wich is a Turkish word. And of course it started by Turkish who occupied the Red Sea Massawa area in 15th century. Now, coffee grow in Eritrea not commercial level yet but we do, coffee arabica aromatics labeled as radish and robust - grows in Mirrara Eritrea near Shieb also. There is no tradition we took from you Ethiopians, Popcorn also, during wedding and welcoming sign....IT's OUR tradition. In Ethiopia in grows in the South bordering Kenya. Not in dry Tigray nada.
Why was my comment deleted, coffee was discovered by Turkish, here in Massawas, the evidence is that the kettle we use in both Eritrea and Ethiopia to brew the coffee is called FINJAL, which is a Turkish word, and the Turks are the first ppl who roasted and brew coffee, here in this part of the world in the 15 century when they occupied the Red Sea coast of Eritrea. Coffee grows in Eritrea, in fact best in quality robust reddish arabica coffee in Mirrara, Shieb Eritrea. It’s not Ethiopian tradition or nothing from Ethiopia, coffee grows in South Ethiopia bordering Kenya. Popcorn is also Eritrean tradition at wedding and welcome sign.

As a Somali i believe ERITREA is a beautiful nation with its wonderful people and its amazing geography 🥰🥰🥰
I agree there are so many things that make Eritreans and Somali people similar. They are most civilized societies although they are yet to land on moon; I do hope they will land on moon with their camels.

So Eritrea suffers in silence.
Great job I've never heard of this place. You do a good job capturing moments between you and the locals

Such a great idea u suggested. That will definitely leave the people with such memories and aspirations that they would others not ever have! I hope he reads your comment!
Your videos always fascinate me, especially the ones from Eritrea. Thank you very much for your honest and balanced opinion about the country you reported on.
What I really like about your videos is that you tell the story behind the things.that's cool.

Great presentation Tommy!
Appreciate your detailed tour of Eritrea and giving little history lessons.
Hopefully your next trip to Eritrea will be with overflowing tourists and modern facilities with true development to the people of Eritrea 🇪🇷 who deserve better!

Your vids are well done with pithy and wry observations. Eritrea wouldn't be on my list of places to visit, but it does have a bleak and arrid fascination. I appreciate that you take on some rather out of the way places. Keep on keepin' on.

I have an Eritrean co worker that brings me bags of coffee beans. She taught me how to roast and grind them. Best coffee ive ever had🙌🏽
lol Eritreans don’t grow coffee beans, they get it from Ethiopia.
Even the ceremony they use is Ethiopians.

@@mimivistaverde5030 okay, dear! A lot of times, they don’t seem to give credits and don’t recognize the story behind our coffee ceremony.
