As much as people want the builds to be accurate 2x2 5 stud high perfect cubes in perfect colours like Cheesey Studios there is something that needs to be said. If you actually listen to Chessey in his videos a lot of the pieces he uses are ones that are really hard to find and some colours that are even retired (Watch the mesa video for example!) Now, I know LEGO could easily just make their own new pieces in the right colours, but all these things take up extra time and money for LEGO. Going onto the debate about the accuracy, yes, LEGO definitely does need to work on this a bit, some of the sets are crazy inaccurate. But to actually make all the blocks 5 studs high and accurate it's extremely painstaking. As much as it would look good, making sets completely accurate takes away a ton of playability. I mean the point of LEGO Minecraft is to be a LEGO version of the game you can play with, not so much a display model that looks really good. So yeah, there are a few reasons LEGO can't make the sets completely accurate, but I do agree a fair few things should change. That's just my opinion tho, be sure to correct me if you think I got anything wrong.
These are very interesting. Whenever I notice an inconsistency, I just go with my theory that Lego Minecraft is a separate universe in the Minecraft multiverse with its own rules and physics, like how in Minecraft Dungeons you can't break or place blocks, etc. Very fun to think about, and I'm excited to start playing Legends soon.
8:20 I know someone was commenting on how the oak trees are meant to have textured wood so instead of making the wood out of the conventional brown bricks they used 1 x 2 brown grille pieces.
One day, if I get into Lego, I'll find a way to make that End City set, as well as some other cool things. That's assuming I get into Lego though, I doubt it'd be hard, though I am also looking at Nintendo as an option as well. Still though, I definitely agree we need certain things that we don't have, and yeah, the Rabbit Ranch Head defies all laws of Minecraft physics.
I am a relatively new collector of the Minecraft theme and just like you were saying I would love to get some of the pieces that are exclusive to older sets again (enchanting table, wither, villager librarians)
There needs to be a whole overhaul for the Minecraft theme. Make custom player skins since they are doing custom minifigures, also just do the structures and one in a while caves and other builds. We need so many structures like the big haunted mansion or the desert temple!
I don't think what you're saying equates to an overhaul. The theme is one of the best themes currently out there, and this last year with Alex and Steve only appearing in one set is incredible! They just need to do like 3 locations and they're set.
I guess what I mean is that they should fix all the problems that you said in the video, like the color inaccuracies and the molds being actually accurate. Tidy up the theme and do more of what they haven’t done yet. I hope that explains what I mean. I love Minecraft and would love it to be one of my big 3 themes that I buy(marvel, Star Wars, and dc(haha))
As much as I agree with you, I'm not going to expect this much from lego. I don't think they model their sets for collectors and or animators. They design these sets knowing that the majority of people buying them are kids (or parents buying them for kids). I doubt they give a care about making them accurate or not, they probably just look in minecraft, find something cool, and then design it in lego, using vibrant colors (instead of accurate colors) to make them flashy and attractive. I do think they tried harder on older sets (or maybe they just had better designer's then). Anyhow, I still hope they make future sets more accurate. I'm super hiped for November 2022 though! I just can't wait for the next wave of Minecraft Lego. My hopes for the next wave are, a new minecraft dungeons set, a set with different panda faces, and a set with parrots of different colors! Or maybe a set with purple and green robed villagers (although I highly doubt it because the only villagers they'll want to make are new ones from 1.14.
I can think of two-ish prominent mistakes to add: 1. We only have neutral Enderman and hostile Vindicators. I'd like to see them reuse the villager mold to give us a "calm" Vindicator with its sleeves drawn, and a new molded head (heck, even a PRINT) for a hostile Enderman with its mouth open. I know Lego will never do this, but angry Enderman are a literally a staple to the game, plus Vindicators don't hold their axes 24/7. At least the Vindicators are always shown attacking the players in set, so it makes sense why they wouldn't be relaxed, but come on Lego! Fighting Endermen is a unique and crucial aspect to the game, so why not give us a piece for their iconic look? 2. The fact that they stopped doing skin packs was the biggest mistake to me. Granted, it's nice that we've been getting far more diverse skins than just Steve and Alex in normal sets, but I miss being able to just get four unique characters with some armor and accessories. Nowadays, it'd be a cheaper way to get Netherite/enchanted gear. Plus they could even throw in an Enchantment table, Eyes of Ender, a hoe, etc.... all the nonexistent/hard-to-find items Ash was talking about.
"tHe CaKe wAs rOuNd" that was only in 1 set and it was to represent how it looks in your inventory the cake from the village was the same as the current one, and theyre both placed down instead of being held by the minifigure

I like the animal sets like the chicken one or the new fox set, but I would like to see more from the game like the desert temple. Still like that they are making original creative stuff.

To have the allay they should do modules of a woodland mansion so we could get the Vex, Vindicator, Evoker, the totem of undying, and the allay. The reason for it being modules is so that you can build a woodland mansion by getting multiple sets.
That's actually a nice idea. I imagine every set having a vital part of the mansion, such as the library, the prison cells for the allays, the cat statue, the staircase, the chest room, the boxing ring room, or maybe even any of the rarer rooms such as the obsidian and diamond block ones, or the spider spawner one.
I own the old Zombie Dungeon and i hate that i can't get it to fit with my other Minecraft sets because its one stud off and I absolutely hate it. Everything else is great other than some of the coloring.
I'm mainly annoyed with that Steve has yet to have dual molded light blue and nougat arms. Only solution right now is to get a Finn minifigure from Adventure Time in Lego Dimensions, but that has since skyrocketed in price.
Something I've done before is try to create my Minecraft Lego sets in actual creative mode in the game, and there are TONS of things that don't translate. For example I recently built the Waterfall Base in Minecraft and there were tons of things that weren't possible to do exactly. Not a serious complaint or anything but you're definitely correct that it would be nice if this wasn't an issue
So this isn't really a mistake in the set, but rather in the layout of the instructions. In the 21187 set The Red Barn (or really any set with a thick booklet), when multiple bricks are needed within a single step that is on an odd-numbered page number (right-sided pages), the part of the left page that curves from the crease may block one or more of the bricks needed within the step. I noticed this having the booklet on a flat surface. Maybe Lego could indent or something like on school paper where you have an inch of space on either side, though I could just use the instructions app.
Actually, if you think about it, 3x3x3 Lego blocks would be more accurate for Lego Minecraft since a. It's half of a minifigure's height and b. Since each stud is essentially a foot wide in Lego the block would be 3 feet wide which is very close to 1 meter, which is the width of a block in Minecraft.
Something that I have noticed and I have a big problem with is that in that $10 Taiga Biome set with the Fox, Wolf, (Baby Wolf) and Creeper, is that in the actual game, Wolves are hostile towards Foxes, so as much as I made up the term, it’s not “Minecraftically Correct” a lot of sets aren’t. I’ve been trying to build them in game
Not arguing with your main point, but it did occur to me that, with the enchanted armor/tools example at least, it can be explained that you got those items from a zombie or skeleton, even if you didn't have the enchantment table. Again though, I know the continuity point still stands with other examples
I just think the cake is round because the side icing looks more accurate and I think it’s interesting to think that it’s in the inventory since Alex is holding it in the picture. It’s good that they have the two options.
I honestly can’t stand the Minecraft sets. Every once in a while, I’ll want to buy one, but change my mind because of one reason: the sets are just way too fragile. I know that it’s the point, but I find it almost impossible to keep them together. I don’t have this big of a structural problem with any other theme.
Well here's an interesting mistake I found in a recent Lego Minecraft set. In the 21190 set The Abandoned Village, step 1-9 of bag 3 have you build the structure with the blast furnace, but in step 10 (page 38) it already shows the roof built and placed on the structure, and in steps 11-16 it has you build the roof. It's really interesting finding mistakes, especially in the more recent sets. Also, as I was building this set, I pondered when Lego would start considering inventing AIs that design Lego sets, and what potential and curiosity would arise from doing so...
BRUH I found *another* mistake in the *same* instruction book. On step 34 of bag 3 it says to put down 2 2x6 light-gray bricks, but in step 35 (page 50) the bricks are removed (not as part of the step, just gone), then they reappear in step 36. Along with your thoughts on the color palette, I do believe that this set might've been rushed.
Ok, I just finished the set, and I regret saying that it was rushed. Sure, the color could've had slightly more variety, but the architectural thought put into this is amazing, and it's satisfying to see Lego Minecraft get more and more complex in building and yet look polished in its final look.

I personally hate the "blocks shouod be 5 plates" meta becuz of its inconsistency when building,like how are u supposed to make stairs/slabs on that? atleast in 4 tiles,its easy to make slabs and stairs
a color mistake is the dripstone, its not dark tan it should really be medium nougat, buts it not and thats super disappointing. and also nougat is used for oak wood but in the game its more of dark tan
I belive you are way overthinking a toy made for kids...... I agree that they could do much better but in the end cost and need do not justify them putting in the effort.
I think the item frame is a good compromise, as much as people dislike it. Id rather have a huge item frame, than an accurate one where the item itself is so cartoonishly big

Wel they flash red and white when you trigger them, before the explosion, so they picked that red part, so its accurate

Also in step 78 there's an incorrect arrow pointing to a brick that's already been placed down.

I think that Lego could have reused the wolf heads for the foxes and I would have made more since instead of the ocelot head

The circle cake sucks like it’s inside Alex‘s hand it’s probably in the inventory, but Minecraft is blocky it would make sense for it to be square

Minecraft needs more ocean sets
I think you need to cut lego some slack. with things like this, sometimes you have to make artistic compromises
I generally regard Lego minecraft as being on some sort of modded server

I personally hate the "blocks shouod be 5 plates" meta becuz of its inconsistency when building,like how are u supposed to make stairs/slabs on that? atleast in 4 tiles,its easy to make slabs and stairs

a color mistake is the dripstone, its not dark tan it should really be medium nougat, buts it not and thats super disappointing. and also nougat is used for oak wood but in the game its more of dark tan

The hoglin is one of the worst offenders. How could it possibly be wrong when mobs with the same colors are included in the sets they are in.
I think it's even worse on the box. The LEGO one is only a few inches away from the actual Hoglin image

I think the item frame is a good compromise, as much as people dislike it. Id rather have a huge item frame, than an accurate one where the item itself is so cartoonishly big
