    Your channel is the best pure sailing channel out there, and what great videography! Thanks for another great video. Love watching your adventures. 🙂

    Your Vlogs just get better and better: the Videography (and editing); commentary and, of course the Boat management in spite of sleep deprivation. Wishing you continued bon Voyages.

      I do understand why you did this marathon of watching a serial presented by Matt and Amy. I am in the same mood. Thank you for sharing your feelings and emotions.

      So soon we will enter into the seventh season of series by great artists and wise people. I admire and love your show Matt and Amy!
      Hopefully you will find a solution to continue great movies of adventures at seas and different lands, and more - you will go on to expand great geographical lessons for the whole public and living generations.
      Generally there are loads of people ignoring knowledge about nature science and cosequences of the way we live on the Earth. You are great teachers about those issues without providing moral empty lessons. Thank you a lot.

    New Florence already. What a treat.

      The experience of time IS relative to our age. To my 1 yo granddaughter a year was a lifetime, the whole pie! To me, at nearly 70yo, a year is just 1/70th of a lifetime. Just a tiny piece of the pie. Zoom zoom!

    I have followed several types of TH-cam-sailboats over the years. Has given me different experiences I never would have had without YOU as well. Good luck back to England! My greatgrandfather was a sea captain between Norway and England over 120 years ago, he died at sea of some illness due to handling of ICE .Buried at Gravesend.

    I just started watching all your videos. They’re great, you guys are a super cute couple, and great sailors and video makers. It’s very inspirational to see you work so hard for your goals and dreams and make them come true. It’s really great to find your channel at the beginning the year. I was actually in Thailand in March 2020 when the pandemic began and I was just beginning my dream of traveling around the world too. I had to come back to Canada and was heartbroken it fell through. Then I decided to travel in Europe as Asia was so closed to people like me on foot, no boat 😉. But after saving up again and having a new job that lets me work remotely I’m ready to start planning again, as seems the world is stabilizing again well. Many thanks for what you do. Cheers from frosty Montreal 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

    Oyster needs to pay you royalties ! What a boat! I am amazed at how few breakdowns you report. Maybe it’s your ship keeping. It seems like other channels have lots of break down drama. I have owned three sailboats…. I was always fixing stuff and my boats were used on weekends or weeks long vacation. (They weren’t old trash either).

    Thanks for the latest vlog. As I've said before, I thoroughly enjoy them.
    It's so refreshing seeing 2 people post their travels and experiences of sailing, on a sailing channel, without resorting to click bait or gratuitous lingering side boob and arse shots.
    Your cinematography is amazing, and I await the next one.

      @SailingYachtFlorencee I hope you mean that in a good way.

      Hi Matt and Amy. Just to clear up any misunderstanding, I'm saying that I'm glad you DONT resort to tactics other "channels" use to get views or subscribers. Not only does it show the love and respect you have for each other, it also improves the story you are both telling. Not many channels actually concentrate on sailing.
      As I've said before, I thoroughly enjoy your content, I do look forward to each episode, and I honestly wish you both well and please keep safe x
      Regards Graeme

    I love watching you guys and your intimate bond with your boat. It makes me miss my old 35 footer on which I could hoist the main by sheer muscle power as you do, Matt. My current 50 footer is more comfortable and automated but for some reason I felt far more connected to my smaller boat. I know you envied the luxury of your friend’s big cat but don’t under-estimate the value of a more personal bond that a smaller boat seems to give you.

    Hope you two are having a great day. When it comes to things such as bonito, and you may have done this, cut the gills and bleed out for a couple of minutes first before gutting. Also cut the fillets in thinner slices instead of chunks. sear lightly on both sides as you did and it might be a little more palatable with a less fishy taste.

    It was Matthew Fontaine Maury who first identified the Guiana current. He did so by sending forms with sea captains. The forms were to record Long/Lat, VMG, date, and so on.
    Cruisers today would be familiar with the results of Maury's work; the wind barbs shown in Jimmy Cornell's guides originated with Maury and in that same format.

    • @secretsquirrel6308
      @secretsquirrel6308 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Captains reported a trip south from N. America were faster than the nortbound legs. Maury deduced an ocean current was the answer.
      This work was after Maury had been commisoned to survey the route for telephonic cables from N. America to England. When the cable was actually laid, it parted under mysterious circumstances. It was found the cable parted where it had drifted off the intended route. In this manner the hypothesized ocean currents were proven.
      Mariners today owe much to the brilliance of men like Maury.

    • @secretsquirrel6308
      @secretsquirrel6308 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Northbound/southbound .. there often are counter currents associated with ocean currents. They may be just as strong and predictable.

      Also for bonito/skipjack, cut out the really red meat (bloodline) and it doesn't taste so fishy. But that was a fairly small one, so you might not have had enough meat to do so.

    • @StevieB_Slowbart
      @StevieB_Slowbart 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SailingYachtFlorence
      I was told this by a friend who is the best cook I know and also the most experienced sailor. I believe that fish caught the same day are still in rigorous mortis stage and this makes it a bit tough or rubbery. The following day it has relaxed and is more tender. I have experimented and this seems to be the case. I understand why you would not include the bleeding on TH-cam as it is a bit gross. But cut the gills and make a small cut at the tail end of the lateral line as soon as you land it.
      Thanks for your channel and I have enjoyed all of your episodes. Good luck on your final leg home.
      Cheers, Steve (Hobart, Tasmania)
