    🔥I've made a metal detector PCB that has the coils on the same PCB. It can detect metals from 6 to 10 cm. It will beep a buzzer or light an LED when metal is detected. See the circuit, schematic and theory in this video. Get all the files you need for free from below.

      Hello sir. This is really an interesting project but it seems to be working only with magnetic metals like Iron and steel. But what about non- magnetic metals like Aluminium, Nickel, Gold or silver? Can you modifiy this to work with all Metals?

      Or a metal detecting pram... you know with all ur stuff inside so can can dig and to put all the junk. Find a target and then just rock it over the target to pinpoint etc. Pinpointer disguised as a bottle.

    I really like the format of this video, well done! I like that you included the LED option as I have friends that are hearing impaired. Personally I would like to see an OLED displaying battery level and a "relative" number indicating the "strength" of the field. This would give the user a rough idea of how deep the object is. Also, a way to extend the sensitivity for better depth detection.

    Why not use a BFO? Op-Amp with phase inverted inputs is no output (noise cancellation tech right there), up or down beat depending if the material you detect is tuning (ferrous) or de-tuning (nonferrous) the coil?

    Would it be possible to have a PCB that is "only" coils similar to the existing coil, and then stack PCB coils on top of each and then solder them together to have a more dense array of coils?
    How much of a difference would there be if they were connected in series vs parallel when stacked??

    • @ELECTRONOOBS
      @ELECTRONOOBS  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That should be tested. But maybe is better to amke the coils out of copper wire

    Random question, does an oscillator emit any kind of frequency in the air/ether or is it just digital?

    • @Kevin-jz9bg
      @Kevin-jz9bg 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question, i'll try to explain as best I can.
      Yes, anytime you have electrons moving back and forth, the oscillation disturbs the electric and magnetic fields and some energy is released as radio waves.
      (i think the E and M fields are what you mean by "ether". You can think of a "FIELD" like a pool, and an oscillation like dipping your foot in the pool. When you push the water down, you create a "DISTURBANCE". Before it was all calm and peaceful, but now you made a big splash and disturbed it. The water molecules AROUND the water molecules you pushed down ALSO get pushed down BECAUSE water molecules like to stick to one another. Then the water molecules around THOSE molecules get pushed down, and the disturbance spreads outwards, or "PROPAGATES")
      However, the coil in this video doesn't emit radiation very well (aka, it's not a very good antenna), so while a little energy leaves as electromagnetic radiation, the energy in coil's magnetic field is mostly dissipated as heat through the wires of the coil.
      Hope that helps!
      And... I'm not sure what you mean by "digital," can you elaborate?

    Excellent explanation of induction and oscillator circuit!
    How to increase sensitivity? More current through big inductor or/and more windings?

    • @Kevin-jz9bg
      @Kevin-jz9bg 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bigger coil area + more windings, but from my experience, area is more important than windings ;)

    what is the function of 22uf capacitors on the loops.

    • @robertjones5395
      @robertjones5395 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The 22uF caps joined to the inductors form an oscillator and together they oscillate at a predetermined frequency defined by their respective component values. The clever bit is that the two Inductors are also coupled (via magnetic fields) and interact. These interactions chnage when ferrous material is nearby. The 22uF also prevents DC current from flowing into the transistor base which is the job of the parallel resistor. the capacitor only allows high frequencies to pass into the Transistor to turn it. Lookup LR oscilators for more info. resonant frequency is defined where Xc=XL; Xc= 1/(2.Pi.C.f) and XL = 2.Pi.L.f. Hope that helps.

I wonder if our author wants to scale this by stacking 2 PCB's (each w/ 4 layers) with suggestion for a user made feedback coil (off pcb)?
