    And you don't have to remove the exhaust.
    You just need to strap the back side of the exhaust pipe near the cross member and pull the pipe down. To remove the pan.

    You don’t have to take the exhaust off.
    Get a 2x4 and ratchet strap, put the 2x4 across the 2 cross members and ratchet strap the exhaust down near the catalytic converter. It will bring it down enough to get the pan off and slide out easy.

    You dont need that “1inch”. No need to lift tranny. ALL YOU NEED IS A SLIGHT angled TURN OF THE PAN, slide down the filter, and a little slide down motion of the pan. Thats it you’ll get that pan out.

    You do not need to remove the exhaust nuts to remove the drain pan. Take a ratchet strap and 2x4 and brace the 2x4 against the cross member and transmission support and place the ratchet strap around the exhaust expansion joint and ratchet it down. This will give you proper clearance to remove the pan due to the exhaust cross section clearance issue.

    Some manifold "Y" pipes don't have to be dropped depending on the position of it when installed at the factory, in my case I have to drop the "Y" pipe & I need a torch to get the nuts free. What a crazy design.

    Magnetic part trays are valuable assets. Some diyrs suggest removing the transmission mount bolts and jacking the tranny for clearance. Your method of seperating the y-pipe from the manifolds seem easier. Also some have mentioned having the pan modied for a drain plug to help with fluid containment.

    how do i know i put enough in after cleaning out the pan before i start? check dipstick cold? and do i have to keep adding more after getting ti temps

    • @dairleautoclassicrestorati6892
      @dairleautoclassicrestorati6892  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's correct, make sure that you fill it according to the dipstick. Start vehicle and check it again while it is reaching operating temperature. Shift in all gears with your foot on the brake. Once vehicle reach operating temp. Check Transmission Fluid with vehicle in Park. Add if needed.

      @condor5635 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use the ac delco but max life Valvoline I believe is compatible. AC delco was actually cheaper on Amazon anyway. This isn’t the same as the rip off situation that Nissan and Honda put you in for transmission fluid

    • @dairleautoclassicrestorati6892

      It do not have to be the AC Delco Branch. But it must be Transmission Fluid that meets the same requirements.

    • @dairleautoclassicrestorati6892
      @dairleautoclassicrestorati6892  ปีที่แล้ว

      You should have a dip stick on the passenger side of the vehicle. If not look underneath on the right side of the transmission and see if there is a plug for the dipstick.

    • @dannysims1857
      @dannysims1857 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

    You can’t use the auto parts brand. It must be the factory brand with the v1 on the label. The old version has the 111 label Roman numerals on the gm brand fluid. Six not three. Or you will have so much shutters that the car won’t move after a few hundred miles. I just paid 1,200$ for three fluid changes and I realized they used wrong fluid. The gm shop uses the correct fluid and nobody knows anything about that !
