I purchased this sled and added the following, 1.8 track, lcd gauge, winch (it’s a 700lb sled) and wrap around bumper, ski skins, heated seats for driver and passenger. Went this route for my partner who needs the heat when riding and wasn’t disappointed. Put around 1200km on this winter….weekend warrior. The comfortability when 2-up riding is phenomenal. I didn’t feel like I had a passenger to be honest. It really is a nimble sled for its size once I got used to the weight. I’m 6’2” and i didn’t feel like the seat stance was wide at all. My partner felt stable when she drove it. I pushed it once in Sport mode to 125 kph while lake riding and that’s about as fast as I wanted to go. On trails easily lifted skis and off trail floated in the powder. Fuel economy is great too. The BRP Go app and ride navigation worked well for what I needed and performed just fine on the lcd. 130hp is just right, the turbo is fun. Do recommend if even for a test drive.
You want the 850 Etec! I bought a '22 Expedition Xtreme and couldn't be happier, it goes like hell, tows like a train and does not overheat what so ever. The clutching is spot on, my 73 y/o father putz's around on it like it's his old 1986 Tundra. With the radiator there is no need for a 4 stroke unless you can't get premium fuel.
Expeditions really need more love...they really do it all. I'd love to see you guys do a sport utility shootout kind of like the crossover shootout, except these are more like swiss army knives than 50/50 machines. The day skidoo throws a 900r turbo or 850 into the form factor of an expedition sport is the day I buy another expy. The g4 20 wide handles well, but it is not a summit or BC that's for sure. Some of us want to work hard-ish and play harder. A 16 wide 2"+ paddle expy would be sweet.
I have this same sled I purchased it for ice fishing and some trail riding This sled is a perfect blend of both worlds, I truly love this sled it’s perfect for what I need it for
@@rocb4222 I just got the plain ace Has plenty of power for what I need Like you I use mine for Ice fishing mainly I never once said I wish I got the turbo Has plenty of pick up and go for such a heavy machine You won’t be disappointed
I have '22 LE 600R ETEC, 20 inch. Beleive it or not, it lifts the skis on demand as well. This machine performs as advertised...and a little bit more. Heading out for a season end run tomorrow morning in the hills. Say good night now.
Thanks for the test, have the same sled and really happy with it, mainly use it in the Adirondacks of ny, took it to Pittsburgh new Hampshire to this winter and rode two up very comfortable and love that big windshield when it's ten below, air ride is pretty sweet to, for the price it should come with heated seating, and better headlights , just my opinion
Was not sure of this sled till I rode one. Much more fun than a skandic or tundra but as useful. I do agree about the 900 ace. Perfect for work and fun. The 850 is crazy fun in this sled. It just hasn’t got time for work😊
Here in Scandinavia, Lynx Commander is the given choice. Mostly the same characteristics. But a rear skid that is better at taking bumps and, in my experience, is better at lifting the skis over obstacles. just passed 6000 miles, 9800km on my 600R equipped Commander. I thought it would be hard to find something that beat my old Commantder 600 from 2013, sold at but this one is better in every way! It breaks the heart of an old Arctic Cat fan like me. But BRP really knows how to build a snowmobile. If you then let the Finns refine the product, you get a snowmobile that is legendarily versatile. my only criticism is that the windshield could have been bigger.
Forgot to mention the expeditions have that awesome articulating rear end so you can nearly walk out of most tough spots and if need to back up off trail your not going to trench
I have a tiant and my buddy has the expedition ace turbo. Both great sled, the doo has better fit and finish but the tian is more capable off trail and he gets stuck in place I don't, the weight is detrimental in deep stuff and slush. They both tow alot, both comfy in two up. The titan is better in trail and handles better. We have both had very few issues, I've had more belts blown and power valve cable break. He's had a clutch issue and stater went on it. Mine starts in - 35 his sometimes doesn't and doesn't have a pull cord. The titan drink fuel and oil like it's free his is much more economical. Sadly only the 4 stroke next year with 90 hp for polaris. It's not enough on these machine and they needed to get the titan in the matryx chassis with the 850. My guess is expeditions will get a lot more sales this year due to that. Polaris doesn't seem to get that the utility market is massive in rural canada and like others have said everyone seems to have an expedition and this won't help polaris. I've love my titan but 2025 I'm getting a new one and if they don't make those changes it will be a expedition for me
Am I the only one who noticed him call the kyb shocks hpg as they panned over the kyb front shock? They switched the shock package for 23 from the older hpgs to the kyb 36s.
I think a ski Doo mxz sport VS Polaris Indy sp would be very intriguing.... Possibly the arctic cat blast could join in the fun? All of us love the high end stuff.... But to keep the sport alive, I feel that entry stuff should have some light. Especially when these toys cost so damn much. Jmho Edit.... Forgot about the neo, but that honestly isn't in the same class. Kinda in-between. It would be worth noting.
So why is there no videos from any sources comparing the 2024 Backcountry to the 2023 backcountry? You would think crossover is a big market, so a new gen5 comparison to the gen4 would be a no-brainer? (And it's not just snowtrax/supertrax, stv, snowgoer, snowest, snowtech, etc...) Maybe Skidoo out a stop to it?

Here it Newfoundland this is by far the number one selling sled. Everywhere I look I seem to see one lol.
Yes sir, they're plentiful here on the Northern Peninsula.

These sell like crazy around here (North Bay, Ontario). Took a ton of people of Grand Tourings as these are just more versatile.
I have the 2013 1200 4tec, I love my expedition,. My buddy has a brand new 900 ace, they really made some nice updates in 10 years.

Wow either that trail is incredibly icy hard pack or that sled carries like no weight on the skis to push them in for turning.
