When I cut off a plant, instead of pulling out the root I just plant next to and let the new plant feed on the decaying roots of the old plant.

I am an apartment dweller but am still getting great harvests every year with container gardening. I can attest to the fact that this really works! Also, ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️s for Tuck.

Hi James. My name is Bala and I live high in the mountains (7000 feet) in South India. Even though I'm 10000 miles away from you, every word in your videos makes complete sense in my context. I've been doing everything you mentioned in the video above without even knowing it was the right way to go about planting a Food Forest. What reaffirmation. Thanks. If you want to see photos of my humble food forest, let me know.

Tuck is definitely an asset to the show. Very cute and informative!. My thick-coated Husky/Rottweiler mix also likes to hangs out in the garden with me, but he overheats easily and has to go back inside when it gets too hot (me too.). Until I saw your show where you explained that dogs dig holes to lie in the dirt to keep cool. did not know why he digs holes to hang out in a dark corner of the yard under a canopy of vines. I actually mulched over that area recently to keep him from scattering dirt across the nearby sidewalk, but after seeing your show I decided to pull back the mulch to let him have that area to dig in to keep cool, dirty sidewalk notwithstanding.

Missed you and Tuck while on vacation. Good to get back home and back to mt garden. I cleaned one gallon of strawberries already and made strawberry ice cream topping. Bad part was cleaning lots of strawberries out of the bed that I didn't get picked in time. Thinned our fruit trees before we left and while we were gone a strong storm came thru and the trees dropped a bunch more. I'm trying my tomatoes on strings this year. Hope it works better than the cages. Keep up the videos and keep growing. How do you keep the birds out of your blueberries??? Yes, the birds love my yound peas and bean plants.

    Another great video Team Prigioni!
Yes i started a google excel sheet last autumn, listed what seeds i had for next season and when i planted our garlic. Since then i have been adding to it, adding tabs for different topics, like weather extremes.
If you have hedges or trees around your growing space, that can impact the local weather in your growing space like a micro climate, even living on a hill as oppose to a valley can have vast differences in the same area such as wind, fog and heavy rainfall.
I make my own pinboard mini 6 weeks calendar so i know when i have fed the worms in the 3 tiered crate wormery and when and what was fertilised last.

Always love to see the furry Tuck. The videos you produce are awesome, and I am always looking forward to your next one, i am in zone 8b but we seem to have simular climates. You are always providing great tips, and not afraid to show where sometimes stuff just goes wrong. Keep up the great work, I am building my own food forest growing all the things i love to eat and what family and friends love as well, so i can share with others. I have had ZERO luck with strawberries, and everyone says they are so easy...... will try again this year :)

Zone 8b here too. I’m on a new sandy property and have spent a fortune amending the sand. But some cucumbers and beans have come up! I’ve always had a garden but there are years that I felt like a beginner. Sometimes plants just don’t do well! It’s always curious to me that after ruling out everything I can think of, they still don’t perform. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I always start from seed so I can trouble shoot any potential problems. This year, I set my plants out late but we had a rouge freeze while we were out of state and I lost everything! Those things happen. And some folks think gardening is boring!

Speaking of being proactive, after having my sugar snap peas destroyed last Spring when it was already 3 feet tall, by some rodent that severed the stems at 2 inches above the ground, I planted my peas in containers made of large water bottles and hung them 3 feet off the ground. They will still have room to climb. I also had a problem with my poll beans sneaking through small spaces between boards of my neighbour's wooden fence and producing a lot of beans on his side of the fence instead of mine. This spring I stapled landscaping fabric to my side of that fence, from the ground up to 8 feet to solve the problem. I also had a problem with wild rabbits eating my blueberry bushes after a 1 & 1/2 feet of snow on the ground. Now I have the bushes in 2 feet tall cages made of chicken wire anchored to the ground with steel pegs. The cages are wide enough to allow the pollinators to come and do their job.

Whats interesting about the farmer journal is the church long ago collected that information. I heard a researcher talk about how people that feasted and had kids created kids with health problems more so and those who starved and survived and had kids created kids that lived relatively health. Likely the same thing with plants.
I believe in human history people ate the fruits and sweets seasonally that sparked appetite to feast for the winter struggle but these days it’s sold that everyone is going to be healthy because we think we are smarter then we really are.
You’re merchandise is high quality material.

Yes I love tuck. I love dogs. My dogs are always out there with me but the eat the dirt! Lol. So we fenced in the garden this year. I know it’s organic and all but oh my goodness eating the dirt is not good. Ugh. Happy gardening thank you.

James, I followed your sucker pruning technique this year with my tomatoes and I'm gonna have to get the ladder out to pick them! They're growing so strong and tall in my raised beds and I'm a shorty!! Just wanted to say thanks and your enthusiasm gets me pumped to get growing!! Give Tuck a snack for me!

I'm new to the desert southwest and am learning what grows and what doesn't. Your videos have such great information and I take some of it into my new gardens. I did the vertical string planting for my tomatoes. Totally amazing. My 11 new raised beds are all full of plants and I thank you. Rod. Peoria, AZ.

Those were some very helpful hints. I envy you and your growing season; there is a reason New Jersey is The Garden State! Still waiting to get plants outside here in Montana because we are still having frosty mornings. Love seeing Tuck in your videos, little garden companions are just the best.
