James dude i think you would like a HOD even in my tiny backyard at harvest time it is invaluable for how much it holds, i stick smaller baskets inside for harvesting things like berries and smaller fruits and veg. I am so excited to be watching your latest post, it took me 20 minutes-it felt like-to edit my typo ridden comment!😂😂TFS as always ! Blessings- Hope💖BTW: CONGATZ*ON 1M!

Hey James my husband and I love your channel and are daily encouraged by you and Tuck. Your garden is so full of color and life that we find your videos encouraging as we grow a food forest in the desert. :-) My husband started our garden last year with some produce we got at the grocery store. We started with the parts of the green onions and lettuce that we normally throw away. He planted them in our barren back yard instead and they grew. That early success prompted him to plant squash and some green beans as well. By the end of the year, we had a half-dozen squash , some Dragon tongue beans, and our lettuce had produced seeds. This year he started early and started planting trees and other perinials as well as some tomatoes and squash all over our yard. What was once so barren that weeds didn't grow is slowly improving and more and more plants are growing and thriving in our yard. You and Tuck have been a major influence and encouragement in our food farm and we enjoy your videos together. We love to see Tuck and see him eat veggies. Lots of love to you Tuck! Keep growing and sharing James! Thank you. :-)

Love, love, LOVE your videos! Just sayin' that THIS (after your brilliant vid about waiting til warm weather to start seeds) is the FIRST year that this 61 year old tree hugger has grown veggies from SEED! (I did pray a little too...) I am succession planting the back yard with summer AND glorious winter squash, basil, tomato, cukes, yard long bean, =.) thyme, marigolds, potatoes, little sugar pumpkins, corn 9 little stalks coming up in a pot cuz I'm in zone 7/8 and I need the structure for the squash vines... and corn silk, veggie broth from the cob, and organic corn husk for tamales...I look forward to any new videos, and discoving your earlier ones on fall gardening! I'm all about some brassicas and I couldn't even spell that 4 months ago...embarrassed, nearly silent, lolling... Namaste to you and that really sweet boy!

What a great testament to grow your own #GYO backyard gardening! Imagine if more folks did this! Fresh garden produce in their own garden - UK folks are lucky if they can get an allotment & produce vegg like this too. It’s only June and James is producing wheelbarrow’s full of produce & fruit. How good does his cauliflower look? And those cherries and raspberries and currants! Just WoW! James….talk about tomato Hornworms when you get an opportunity. Nasty things.

That is the best comment on this thread. I grow a similar amount of food and if you don't know how to process it you're essentially throwing it away... or it becomes compost but that's not a very good rationale for waste. John Kohler, from Growing your Greens, does a good job explaining how to dehydrate, ferment Etc

I experimented with placing the bed by a locust tree. I was hoping the shade would keep my veggies from burning up in the sun and dry wind. Surprise! It’s too shady.😂
I’m going to extend the bed by about 1/4 into the full sun. Next round I’ll put leafy greens that tend to bolt in the shade and everything else in the sun. Making adjustments and moving forward.
Perennials- planted another pear tree yesterday that’ll pollinate one I put in last year. Got a bunch of peaches on one, the other is barely hanging on after being moved. Got a few Fuji apples, and a couple of pears setting up as well. Blueberries are doing ok, except for the one I planted last week that the dogs trampled-it’s hurtin’ for certain. Grapes are making their way onto the chicken run fence, and asparagus are making their way up. It’s been hot and dry, with more heat to come so I definitely gotta stay on top of watering.
It’s been a battle and I’m ready for vacation. I’ve been landlocked for 11 months and I definitely need some shore time! Just a few short weeks and I’ll be surfcasting Ortley Beach from sunrise until the lifeguards kick me out, then boogie boarding all day long.
Okay, enough rambling, gotta spread our latest chip-drop and get it outta the street before the sun starts a-blazin’.
    Happy 4th everybody!

23:51 I think the black caps have a slightly "lemony" flavor...very unique flavor. Found some growing wild along a fense adjoining a neighbors yard. pulled up some and 2 yrs later...I now have 4 plants.. I also learned how easy it is to start a new batch... simply bend the cane over and bury it!!

James. I’ve tried to email you about consulting. I just thought of a cool series you could add to your channel called “garden rescues” and you go to people’s gardens and help prune/stake, pest and disease control, etc. And guess what? My backyard is the perfect backyard to start this series with! Lol. I live in Clementon NJ.

You've inspired me to start a little food forest.... In Brooklyn I have enough room for some small fruit trees, berries and perennial vegetables ... Thank you for the inspiration!!!

Dogs can have blueberries. The vet suggested I have my guide dog have a hand full a day for anti inflammatory. She also had cranberries and goji. She lived to 13 and worked til 12 years old. She got cancer as an 8 year old as she was on dog food until she got the cancer. It came back when she was 12. Grapes are a no though.

What an incredible garden and lots of work but it looks worth it. Could you do some recipe videos of all the food you harvest?

Rat traps to pinch their paws might help, also, I use fake snakes to keep critters out of my garden areas. I've added a brontosaurus just for whimsy.

@@charliewilliams8794 Great! I forgot to mention that I drilled holes and attached a piece of hay rope to each trap to tie it to something so the critter wouldn't haul it off. Best of luck to you!

@@charliewilliams8794 You're welcome and good luck. If that doesn't work, do like Burt Gummer in Tremors and get those remote controlled trucks and something loudly appropriate for the circumstances, and chase the groundhogs around with them. Pretend they're "Graboids".
