As a reference librarian at a small public library, i appreciate that you visit your local library and your book reviews. I don't read fantasy so i enjoy hearing your reviews and can make some recommendations to those who do. I also love the knitting and crocheting content too!!!
Oh yay!!! There are a few librarian friends here!! Whenever we have moved, we always check out the local public library and get a library card. The kids and I go to the library at least once a week - it's like a second home for us! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you Stephanie for another "wonderfilled" episode! I love the intro where you showed us the mighty Lake Superior and surrounds. I love the Classic Ribbed Hats modelled by you and your husband. I love your newest Love Note sweater and the lavender, yak, silk yarn looks divine. I love ALL the sweaters your showed here today! Your shows are never too long for me. Lastly, I'm glad you didn't have any soggy bottoms!! ☺☺
I like the way you modified the back short row shaping in your Love Note. I have a store bought top that has that curved hem at the bottom that I love so it’s cool to see how I could try making one.
I'm about 3/4 of the way through A River Enchanted (from your recommendation) & am really enjoying it, too. I love the cast of characters that she took the time to develop & are necessary for the story. I actually liked the Fourth Wing & The Iron Flame ( love the dragon connections), but I can appreciate why you might not enjoy them. It's not for everyone. Loved your Chalet Days sweater!!
I'm glad you're enjoying A River Enchanted! I think a lot depends on my mood when reading a book as well and maybe too much time lapsed between reading Fourth Wing and Iron Flame for me to keep the characters straight lol. Anyway, not saying I'll never read them again but maybe when all the books are published I'll try from the beginning again?! Not saying never! haha.
Wow Stephanie, this was sooo good. It’s never too long for me as I sit with my cross stitch whilst listening and watching all your achievements. I also love the book reviews and need to get to the library more often. Can’t wait till your next clip. 🙋🏼♀️🇦🇺
In addition divine rivals great I didn’t know the sequel was already out, so thank you. the unfortunate side effects was on my kindle before the episode ended. Low: I sent my kiddo back to the university today and I’m going to miss his face . ❤ high: my husband was on a hilarious roll tonight, it was tummy ache laugh crying for me .
@@christineb2797 Glad you'll have some books to read as you go through this next life chapter! Sending lots of love❤. Belly-aching laughter is THE BEST medicine.
Oh Stephanie. This was a spectacular episode!!! From the intro video scenes to the yarn choices/colors and your knits/projects...just fabulous. I actually ordered some Purl Soho yarn this morning as their yarns are wonderful (I am a huge Good Wool and Linen Quill fan) but it looks as if I'll have to check out Woolens and Nosh 😊 for some sock yarn. I just finished a pair while watching (using self striping West Yorkshire Spinners yarn) and am ready to cast on another pair with some Echoes Gusto Wool. Definitely in a sock phase and some of yours are very inspiring. Thank you for sharing your work!!!
Thank you so so much for your kind words!! I was feeling tentative getting behind the camera again after not chatting about all my projects for 6 weeks. It's like a muscle that needs to be exercised! Yay for another Purl Soho fan!! Good Wool and Linen Quill are probably my favorite go-tos for garments currently. LOVE West Yorkshire Spinners too - so hard-wearing and comes in so many colors and self-patterning options. Take care!❤️
I'm back! 😅 That's a cute thing to do with your girls: high/low. My current low is the broken wrist that prevents me from knitting, crochet, cooking and baking. My high. . .hmmm working with our 6-month old Dobie puppy, who is a very shy boy. Yesterday, the trainer and I had him out in public, and he did very well with strangers. I was very pleased at his bravery.
Love your podcast! This was so enjoyable to share in. Your knitted completed projects are just beautiful. My favs were your socks and lovely burgundy, teal, and brown sweater. Your bakes look very yummy. And though I do not read the types of books you do, I adore reading. So hearing anyone talk about books and using the library as a resource is so pleasant. Thank you for sharing. Have an amazing day! 😊
I'd say my high for the week is we got a few inches of snow, which in the South, means the city is shut down. We are cozy & have plenty of food in the house so it's the perfect excuse not to leave my house. My low is that my grandma with dementia has been put on hospice care. She is refusing to eat and take meds . 😪
I’m so glad to find someone else who didn’t care for Iron Flame. I don’t think I enjoy fantasy as much as you, but some are okay. This one didn’t make the cut.
Low: I'm still really struggling with long covid symptoms from almost a year ago but I am getting better. The brain fog, memory loss and lung sensitive stuff is real friends. I saw my doctor yesterday and she has changed her thoughts/practices around this and will be helping me now. Hurray! High: I had enough clarity today and prepped dinner, lunches for the rest of the week and am almost done with another NightShift Shawl, all while watching this episode. Thank you for keeping me company!
Hello fiber friend! I'm also struggling with long covid, especially the lung sensitivity. I hope you feel better very soon. Enjoy your new shawl! I'm also knitting an Andrea Mowry shawl (Plumpy). Can't wait to wear it when it's done!
A low for me today is I’ve been getting a low level sore throat on and off for the past week. I’m not sick sick, just have a general off feeling. A high would be that I just finished blocking a cabled sweater I made for my Dad. It’s probably the biggest project I’ve taken on yet. Sunday I’ll be gifting it to him on his birthday, and I’m just so excited! I really enjoyed this episode, especially the book recommendations! I’ve saved a few of the titles to check out at the local library.
Nooooooo that "off feeling" before getting sick is very annoying!! Lucky Dad to receive a handknit cabled sweater!!! Thank you so much for joining me in this creative space, take care!
Thank you Stephanie for this wonderful podcast again. You’ve made the year of 2024 start in a good way - plenty of inspiration! You are truly a talented crafter and I so enjoy seeing everything you’ve accomplished over the last months. Have a great week ❤
Oohh Stephanie, another lovely podcast! Thank you for sharing! I enjoyed the opening views of Lake Superior , as I've never seen it! Beautiful! I love your nature shots! I also lived all your finished wips but that Henley is a stunner!!! Seriously good! The stripes, the buttons and the cozy fit! Your garments are always so good! Thank you for sharing!❤
Loved the scenery at the beginning of the video. Have seen this while driving from Canada (Thunder Bay) into the states. Was wonderful to see. Love your podcasts.
I am finally getting back into reading after several years (I used to be a book-a-week reader but just lost my desire for a while!) and I so enjoy your book reviews. A high and a low! The low, this week, I think is finding what is kind of the perfect house in the perfect location, but realizing that it's just TOO expensive. Like close enough that we could make it work, but we'd have no savings or emergency funds. And even the most perfect house isn't worth that. That was a bummer! Then a second one is that I really overcommitted to test knits through the fall/early winter and now I'm having to power through to make deadlines and not actually enjoy the knitting. Lessons learned! But a high - reading again is so good! I joined a challenge on StoryGraph to read at least a page every day in January and I'm more than meeting that challenge so far. I'm working on consistency this year in lots of habits, and I'm pleased that reading, and keeping the house tidy, are going well so far.
Excited for you to get back into reading! UGH, house buying/selling is SUCH a stressful process - the emotional rollercoaster is INTENSE. Sending you all the good knitting energy to get those knits done!! Take care and talk soon friend!
Thank you for your support Beth! It doesn't matter if it's the 19th episode or 119th, I STILL feel tentative every time I hit publish when my makes and words go out into the vast black hole of the internet lol.
I forgot to mention how much I enjoy seeing the different sites in Minnesota. I live in Michigan which is almost a sister state of Minnesota but have never been to Minnesota. I have been to the beautiful Lake Superior on the Michigan side but have been inspired to visit it on the Minnesota side
Oh we just absolutely LOVE the upper peninsula!!! Porcupine Mountains in the fall is breathtaking (vlog from a trip in 2021 on Episode 73: Savoring the Season th-cam.com/video/jBb7GYIojhY/w-d-xo.html).

As always, another fun podcast episode! I always love seeing your makes ❤ A low for me is the weather! It snowed a bunch on Monday and now they're calling for snow and negative temperatures the rest of the week. I actually do enjoy snow but I commute out of town for work and it's annoying when the road conditions are bad. A high for me is that I heard from one of my best friends this morning! It wasn't very positive news but I haven't heard from her in months and I've been very worried for her so it was good to hear from her. Another high is that I'm so excited and in love with all my current knitting projects and I can't wait to wear them all!

In terms of lows: I am feeling a bit stressed but I started a garter blanket with my advent and I am working my way through it. I love mindless knitting
Wonderful episode! Alllll of it! The Henley/striped sweater is on my list. Love everything about it! Low: realllly need to finish things, weaving ends, sock toes, etc High: “Weave-In Wednesday”, minimum 30 minutes. To counteract the “Low” above. My own creation, as I can’t/won’t/don’t follow my own “rules” …lol… I usually try to finish a book, but sometimes…. ugh. I don’t care for topics that are Very similar to current events. I read to escape into other worlds. There’s ALWAYS another book, so now I don’t feel guilty about finishing a “bad” book. Thanks for your inspiration! I could listen to the water lapping the rocks alllll day. So calming!
Hi Stephanie! I really loved this episode, it’s very optimistic with lots of positive energy and so many things that you’ve made ❤ I also wanted to say thank you for mentioning my tiny hat pattern - your tiny hats turned out super adorable, I love them! I am amazed how much you are reading - going to check out some of the books you’ve mentioned 😊 Thank you!
thanks Stephanie, I really enjoyed this episode and I appreciate so much what you said about swatching for colourwork. It's the same for me. The swatch doesn't reallu show what I end up creating on the full garment. happy knitting xx
I love all of your projects and really appreciate the detailed notes you put in your ravelry pages. Those are so helpful and I have used them for many projects. I do have a request. Last year you showed dresses that you made for your daughters. I was able to get the same material to make those dresses for my granddaughters. Would you please remind me of that episode? Thank you so much
Omg!..he made the buttons!?...You are such a delight ...your projects are fantastic..and I love just listening ....I'm so happy to have found you....I love the purl so ho yarns so much as well....Happy New Year to you and Yours!❤
Just got back from the library with The Woven Kingdom and All This Twisted Glory by Tahereh Mafi, books 1 and 3 of that trilogy. I requested Book 2 to be sent from another branch. I look forward to reading them, as a change of pace. Thanks for this recommendation.
@@EdibleThoughtsMakes Yes, I'm excited to be delving into a genre that I've not followed before now. And you're right about how beautiful those book covers are.
Beautiful projects Stephanie! You are inspiring me to put a Lovenotes Sweater on my list! I just finished a Held Together hat (per your podcast!) Love this pattern! Already planning my next one! Thanks for such a wonderful podcast!❤
So many knits! All inspiring and beautiful to see. I did hope you would talk about those fingerless mitts you had on in the video clip at lake Superior. Maybe you already did? Happy New Year!
Thank you! They’re the Everything November Mitts by Jen Yard (www.ravelry.com/projects/EdibleThoughts/everything-november-mitts). I made them three years ago and still get a lot of wear out of them ❤️
I come here for the knitting inspiration, but truly love the book recommendations you give, I’ve never heard of these books before and have very much enjoyed books you’ve recommended in the past, I’m looking forward to these new book recommendations.
Oh that means so much to me! I always feel vulnerable sharing my opinions on books. Plus, I never want to give away any spoilers so I try to focus on how the writing speaks to me. Take care❤️
Happy new year to you! Beautiful projects ❤ My low is because of the freezing temperatures my skin hurts so much, it feels like having a severe sunburn over my entire body, yuck! My high: I received my new spinning wheel in beginning of december as a gift from a good friend and I am spinning up a storm. My current project is spinning to weave fabric for a hinterland dress ❤
Okay, your Winterly Cowl rocks; the stitch pattern is striking; added that pattern to my Rav faves. I really like that Meadow Sprite sock yarn! I want some! I like how the stripes are different in width. Your husband's buttons are amazing; he slayed those. I hope he makes more for your future cardigan. Now that you're through with that Holly Black series, I personally didn't like the first book. I thought the Prince was a douche bag and the other royals bullies. I was going to read Iron Flame as my First Book of the Year but I read mixed reviews on it so I slated it for a later read.

Yes cold but also beautiful. Hmm what colors of yarn could be knitted to reflect that beautiful day.

Beautiful projects ❤
My low is because of the freezing temperatures my skin hurts so much, it feels like having a severe sunburn over my entire body, yuck!
My high: I received my new spinning wheel in beginning of december as a gift from a good friend and I am spinning up a storm. My current project is spinning to weave fabric for a hinterland dress ❤
Happy new year!! Hope you can find some relief!!! WHAT AN INCREDIBLE high!!!! Wow wow wow!! Thanks for sharing ❤️
Have you read the lonely castle in the mirror? It’s such a comforting book.
I’ll look into it, thank you!
Thank you so much Stef!! UGH, yeah I did NOT like that prince or his "friends."
