I am on my second pair of socks while knitting concurrently. Thanks to you and Maria of Wollen Forest (former? I really miss her videos!). I finally tried it with some sweater sleeves and now socks this year and I am totally into it. Having pairs of things done and not lingering is its own kind of joy. Plus then you get to wear them. I'm doing the front yard pumpkin patch again this year and 🤞🤞 that it all works out again. It was such a wonderful thing to do for my son's class.
So good to see you back with a full video, Stephanie. I have been enjoying your shorter project ones as well but was missing the longer ones. I love your color style as usual in all your projects.
Oh thank you Kym!! The longer ones with all the things just take a lot longer not just to record but the backend of things with editing, uploading, show notes, etc. I'm glad to have figured out a time to do it!! Thank you so much for joining me❤️
I finally had an afternoon to sit w/my coffee relax and treat myself with your podcast. I loved seeing all the socks you made. After 35 years of knitting, I'm making my first pair of socks right now. I never had any interest until I saw all the amazing socks you have knitted in all your videos and it peaked my curiousity.
Love your content. Love your style and color choices. I live in a warmer climate so don’t like pullover wool sweaters. Too hot once indoors and usually too warm outdoors. Love cardigans! Thank you!
Hi there, I just realized I wasn't subscribed. No wonder I wasn't seeing all your videos ... now I'm subscribed ;) Here in Ontario Canada we always talk about the weather too lol. I can't seem to get on a regular system of making my videos, I need to work on that. I always enjoy watching yours. I'm just waiting on some yarn I ordered from my lys to make a second half and half triangle shawl. There are not too many projects I've made again, but this will be the second of these ... love it. Of course the ranunculas is the other one, I think I'm on my fourth ;) My preference is also a book book - I know exactly what you mean when you say you like the smell lol. When I art journal I love all the textures of the paper- for touching or tearing the paper, the sound of the pencil on the paper, holding a pen or writing instrument ... lol you get it ;) Hope you're having a wonderful day, Donna.
Thank you for subscribing and appreciate you taking the time to join in on the conversation! Yes, the whole process of writing/drawing/pen to paper (or pencil or other writing tool) is a whole experience in itself! Take care Donna ❤️
Love your socks! I knit mine exactly the same...9 in chiagoos for the cuff and leg, DPN's heel flap and turn..then majic loop! your yarn choices are always gorgeous!! Thanks for a great podcast Stephanie!
Lol, I was trying to explain the crewneck cardi flappy things to Husband, and he just looked at me like I was making things up. Totally with you on preferring a v-neck. I bought several balls of Saona from Aimee's shop, but with NO idea what I'm going to use them for. Maybe a shawl? It feels like it's a grippy yarn, if that makes sense.
Wonderful video. I love the gardening, cooking, and reading sections, as well. All the items are beautiful. What made me sit up were your husband’s socks. I thought “My Sean (hubby) would love that color. Q. Where did you purchase the sock blockers? Look forward to the next one episode. Happy Knitting! ❤
Thanks for another great video! My next project will be a steeked cardigan (Moorland). I did see a steeked Ranunculus, and it looked amazing as a cardigan.
Such inspiration! I reallllly need to jump into my cardigan knitting! Working on smaller projects, and they are making me happy, sooo going w the flow! I have lotsa larger (sweater) things I want to make, but I’m letting my “mood/s” rule for now. When I first started making socks, DPs were (was??) all that was available. (Horribly, grammatically wrong sentence, surely…) Currently love my 9” circs (…ummm, 4 each in smaller sizes. Cuz I make 2 at a time and usually have a vanilla as well as a patterned/textured sock…again, moods) I use DPs for flap + toes. I “could” use magic loop, but that might mean more needles. Gotta limit myself “somehow”…ahem Love that purple-y pink Lento! Sigh, yummy colors! So, I must also say the magenta tweed is gorgeous! Must. Get. Some. Thanks for another fun “chat”!!
Thank you so much! Yes to knitting by moods - I have a lot of moods...I have a lot of WIPs lol. The thing is, some projects are better suited for on-the-go knitting while others I need quiet focused time to complete a section. It works! Yay for having lots of different tools for us to play with and figure out what works best for us! Take care.
Stephanie your videos are always such a delight ! I love everything you make, your color choices and the fact that you knit a pattern several times! I love seeing the variations. Ps: I totally judge books by their covers 😂
I knit my socks the same way, with the 9"" circulars, dpns and magic loop. It makes perfect sense to me! 🙂 I tried tor a long time to be a sock knitter, trying the various methods, and ended up with this hybrid style as well. if i didn't always have so many socks on the needles at the same time, I'd proably also knit them concurrently as well!😄
Thank you as always for sharing your projects and creativity with us, Stephanie! I have to ask - do you have an idea for a Half & Half Triangles Wrap brewing in your mind, or are you feeling burnt out on that pattern? I know you've said it is a comforting knit for you. I am finishing up my first one (because of your inspiration) and I totally understand the sentiment!
Thank you so much! I have another Half+Half cast on but haven't touched it in months because other projects have been filling that mental space currently. I haven't shared it yet anywhere yet (really, just like a cast on and maybe a couple of rows??) but maybe I will this summer! So glad you're finding it a comforting knit!!
Stephanie, your Sonder sweater is beautiful, especially in the lovely colors of Peachy Pink and Lavender Opal. Another great neon-neutral combination. Have you ever seen the gorgeous book cover on the novel titled "Klara And The Sun"? That book came out about 3 years ago.
Another inspiring episode. Love how your garden is coming along. I would love to have a field of flowers. I have no idea where to begin though. Love your Lento sweater colors! And Building Blocks Cardi is something I have had in my queue for a while now.
Thank you so much Stacy!! Do you have a local arboretum?? It's a great way to see what's suitable for your growing zone and to get landscaping ideas. Often there are Master Gardeners on site who are generally pretty excited to talk about all things gardening! Library books can also be really helpful in getting ideas on how to lay things out or maybe what kind of feel you're going for (and to plan out for those who prefer more shade or sun or wetter soil, etc.).
@@EdibleThoughtsMakes Thanks Stephanie for the tip about local arboretum. There were so many in CA! The only one I know of here is in Asheville. Actually I think there is a botanical garden about 1 hour away. I will take a look at my library.
I like your project notebook. I don’t know why I never thought of keeping one but I’ve been known to make multiples of the same project and there’s always a few little things i’ve done to slightly alter it, but forget what they were by the time I repeat the project.
It's absolutely why I keep a project notebook! Also helps with yarn management in future projects because then I know how much I might need for different sections and use what I have on hand.
What needles/IC do you use for making your socks 2 @ a time? I love prefer the idea of knitting them at the same time without both on a long magic loop.
Here's a short video where I talk a little about my bag making process (note, it is not a tutorial and spoiler, I don't follow a pattern): th-cam.com/video/DSGcGx7z9kI/w-d-xo.html.
I understand what you are saying about the books, but I've found the kindle cuts way down on clutter. Reference books I definitely want paper books, but just reading novels, I prefer the kindle.
Already requested! He says he might have some from last time that would work but if not, no problem! I think these ones need to be slightly bigger than the previous ones.

really like the sweater you're wearing . The colors are pretty together !
Thank you so much 😀
I knit socks the same way…9” circulars, DPNs, and magic loop!
Whoohoo!!
I love your Sonder so much! What great color sense. I would not have thought of combining those colors. They're luscious together.
Thank you so much!
Your Lento yarns are so beautiful!
Thank you! I’m so excited about the combo!!!

😂 right???? Glad you get me. Yeah the Saona is a little grippy but not in the way that “rustic” wooly wool is grippy. It’s hard to describe!!
YEAH!!!!
Thank you for your enthusiasm!!
You inspired me to use my quilt fabric to make knitting bags! Love your knitting projects 🌷🌷💕💕💕

I use two chiaogoo 9” circulars!
