Please note that David shot this reaction in February before it was announced that Sleep Token left Spinefarm to sign with RCA. :-) Now, about the reaction: Nice, David! I'm very happy that you really appreciated this song. Like "Fields Of Elation", this is another Sleep Token track that doesn't get requested to reactors as much as it should. So, seeing you totally grooving with it from the very beginning to the very end was great, including the growth that was happening throughout. After you posted that this was one of the Sleep Token songs you were going to post a reaction to for this month, some folks in the comments undermined this track by calling it "mid" and whatnot. But like I said in the intro, II holds this track as one of his personal favorites to play, so there was no way I was not going to get you to listen to it. I had no doubt you were going to love the breakdown at the end, but because you don't usually like long buildups, I was worried you were not going to have the patience for it. But you dug it from start to finish, savoring all the musical details in it, including II's intricate drumming, so that was a great thing to see. One thing I gotta bring up though, it seems you haven't gotten used to your updated scoring system. You kept saying that "Fields of Elation" is number 1, but you gave "Higher" a higher score (no pun intended, I swear!) than "Fields of Elation." I don't know, maybe the old way of scoring felt more natural to you? Wouldn't be a bad thing to go back to it. :-D Anyway, I'm very happy to see you really enjoyed the track, David! Next stop, "The Offering"!
I agree this song is heavy, melodic, powerful, beatiful, impressive, etc. This is one of the songs that woke up my ears to Sleep token. There were parts of this song that remind me of a perfect circle. Also the lyrical content is really powerful. "Each time we battle the blood and the fury takes us a little higher" is such a great line. PS "The entire first album is a collection of so many different feeling songs all of which have character in their own way. As other commenters have said, "The offering" would be a great song to react to from the same album. Other good options from the same debut album "The night does not belong to god", "Dark Signs", "Gods, and 2 songs that are not bangers, but are absolutely make you contemplate your life beautiful, "Drag me under" and "Blood Sport the room below version"
The Sleep token journey really starts now. As others have said, obviously not everything will be 100% to your taste, but we’re now getting to the stage you should enjoy it a lot more than their stuff you’ve already reviewed. Disregard those 😅
OHhhhhhh you finally did a good Sleep Token song, this is one of my favs, and IMO one of their best songs I can tell by your reaction that you also feel that way.....
This song and The Offering probably share my #1 spot off their album Sundowning. The overall progression in this song is done so well and that chorus when it builds up towards the end of the song is just massive not to mention those gnarly guitar tones in the breakdown at the end. So good! \m/
This is a great track and the build I feel is nice and full of suspense, almost like you don't quite know what's going to come next - I love the lines "I am a danger/And you're a long way from home". I have to admit too that "Fields of Elation" is my favourite Sleep Token track as well, but I honestly think they are all bangers, no clangers (and it's not very often at all that I say that about any bands, but I have no tracks of theirs so far that I dislike and I'm excited to see what they will bring us in the future).

Song gives me chills everytime i hear it . One of my favorites.
