    Disclaimer & Important Update (as of 9-22-24): I just learned today that the FDA is currently conducting a post-market review of microneedling devices. From what I just discovered, it appears that only nano needle cartridges are permitted for consumer use; other cartridges are classified as prescription-only and available only to licensed healthcare professionals. Many websites (including Amazon and AliExpress) have stopped selling these products to consumers in the USA, and Temu is the last storefront offering them. I recently bought some supplies from Temu but they will likely stop selling these things very soon. This video was posted a long time ago when at-home treatments were widely accepted and normal. For full details and updates, please subscribe, check my website www.lifeanddiy.com and follow me on Reddit - as I will post full details and updates.

    This pen is awesome, I got mine few months back. The company has the best customer service and they stand behind their products and care about their customers. Highly recommended this pen , I use it before I use my sheet mask to get the maximum benefit of it. And you can use it with Vitamin C serum to have the glowing skin in the next day and eventually lighten your dark spot in your skin.

    When can I use nanoneedling between the healing circle of microneedling for skincare penetration? Maybe a week after the microneedling session? And why nanoneedling is better for skincare penetration than a 36 cartige in 0.25mm that supposedly does the same thing? 🤔❤️

    With the doctor pen A 6 you just have to turn the knob to get the needles to show up at the top so they won’t show up if you don’t do that but it is either zero or 2.5 that gets them to pop out of the top. I have found the doctor pen to be fine and I’m sure the other one is good too.
    I’m a little confused as to why you said it doesn’t touch the surface and you didn’t explain that you turn the pen.

    Hi Holly. Boy, do I have questions! As a 71-year-old man, I've been thinking about trying needling as a regenerative response to aging skin. What would you recommend: micro- or nano-needling? I've got some skin-care samples from "Alive by Science" to test out, I got their Renue lotion, cream, and serum. Would you recommend using these products with needling? Finally, what product would you recommend? I've tried rollers but I'm now thinking about a pen. Thanks for providing such great videos.

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hey Lance! If you want the best results, I would go with microneedling with a pen at home. You may want to check out Penny's videos (Penn Smith Skincare) as she is an expert and teaches how to do it safely at home. It is only recommended to use a good hyaluronic acid serum when needling at home with a pen - just to be extra safe. If you ever did nano needling though, then it is safe to use almost any products. :)

    I just discovered your channel. I wanted to see nano needling from another point of view. I was just wondering if you used your A6 with a different cartridge that is not damaged and was able to get a good result. I own the M8 and it does a great job. I do see where you are coming from in the eye area. It is hard to get in there with a larger cartridge. I just don’t want to throw more money at another device when I purchased the M8 to do everything with the appropriate cartridge. Great information! Wish we could all have your skin. Thanks!

I need to know if the other ones will work and how they work compared to this pen. I will do an upcoming video on it too. Thanks for reminding me! I still love the Deminuage for the size and quality though and love that I can get it way under the eye area. I wish the Dr. Pen made tinier cartridges. But, I totally understand not wanting to buy extra items if they aren't needed. I need to figure this out! :) Thank you for the nice comment. I just did an updated Nano needling video where I shared my before and after results (after 3 weeks of use). :)

      Thanks! So glad the video was helpful! I am doing another video on Nanoneedling now and it should be posted this week. Regarding skin firming - I really think you are correct that it's more for skin tone and brightening and also for the pores and can help with some sunspots. Maybe it's possible for a bit more firming if done with the deeper nano cartridges. :)

    I just today, found your site and subscribed. I hope you will reply to my question. I have watched your before and after video for micro needling and the results are wonderful. So my question is this, if you were just starting out, and knew the processes of both products, would you only used the nano needling, or would you use both? I want to purchase the correct product for the most effective results and I believe you are very credible.

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Charlotte! Than you so much for subscribing! I am glad you saw the microneedling video. To answer your question, I would say microneedling with the pen is most effective at getting results the fastest, though it does take time. I think all the other things you do to take care of your skin make a big difference too. And, I also recommend peels in between the needling - lower strength glycolic or other peels. But, I think the nano needling is good for doing in between other more invasive methods (ie: full microneedling) and it can also be ideal for people who aren't ready or comfortable doing microneedling with the pen at home. It's a good place to start. I hope that makes sense!

    I have the Dr. Pen and nano seems to work ok. Do you reuse the nano tips or discard them like needle tips? I just heard in a beauty group that some people sterilize and reuse them since they’re not sharp. What do you think?

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Anita! Good to know about the dr. pen and nano needling. I have not reused them but to be honest, I can see people doing that for sure (just like they sterilize dermarollers). I could definitely understand the appeal and understand why people might do it. I know it would probably never be recommended, but I think it makes some sense. People usually soak their dermarollers in alcohol, so I could see them doing the same thing with these tips. I have not done that before. You got me thinking about it though. :)

But, I am just being extra cautious and I know when people get this done in an office by a professional, they often use serums with peptides, etc. I need to do more research on it.

    Howdy Holly😁🙋🏼‍♀️ Another great video❣️ I would like to try the one with the brightening serum. For my freckles😁. Does nano needling give you dry skin in the days after using it like microneedling?

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Angela, thank you! A brightening serum is perfect to use with nano needling. I forgot to mention the kit with the Deminuage pen has a great brightening serum. About dry skin - that sometimes happens for me after nano needling, but not every time. I am surprised that it does happen though as it seems so noninvasive. But, the last time I nano needled I had a bit of dry flaky skin the next day. It was fine once I used a good serum and moisturizer though. :)

      @@avenus684 Awesome! I really like their serum. For dry skin, I am obsessed with the Dr. Jart Ceramidin liquid (and their cream is amazing too) but I feel like the liquid is more effective. It's a little pricey, but it lasts me about six months. It's absolutely incredible for dry skin. I have never found anything better. Then, after using that, if my skin is still dry (and it's nighttime) I will use a Nivea cream on my face too. Otherwise lately I have been using the IT Cosmetics face cream and it's great as well. :)

    nano needling is okay to use to fade old acne scar?

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on how deep the scars are. If deep, then microneedling is the way to go.

    I bought this nano system, but it does zero for me. I am thinking about going to send it back and just purchase nano cartridges for my Pen. Idk. I do not feel ANYTHING when I use the nano pen. Maybe I will give it more time...

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Terri! It's normal to not feel anything with the daily nano cartridges, but it doesn't mean it isn't helping your skin. It is creating microscopic channels. You could also try their Grand Booster cartridge if you want to feel it and get more pronounced or faster results. :)

    Can I do nano needling with micro needling needles, too? When I set the pen on 0.1 mm it's the same depths as the nano needles go. I really don't understand why I have to buy extra needles for doing nano needling.

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Franzi! I get what you're saying. I still haven't had any luck with the Dr. Pen nano cartridges. I know if you did use a normal microneedling cartridge but at the lowest depth possible, it is an option. I have not tried it yet. The nano tips on the cartridges specifically made for nano needling are super tiny little pyramids that you can hardly see and they do not cause any pain. I think it would be worth trying it your way. I may do this in the near future. So thanks for the suggestion. I feel like I wouldn't want to waste a regular cartridge on nano needling, but either way it will cost money if you use a nano cartridge or Dr. Pen cartridge. So, thank you for this idea. :) If you try it, let me know how it goes. Otherwise I will try it too. I will try to do some research into it as well.

    I’m trying to get the courage to buy the Dr Pen on Amazon with the link u gave but it has a lot of bad reviews! People keep saying the pen just stops working I don’t want to spend that money for it to not work! Has your pen had any problems

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Kirsen! I was so surprised to hear about the bad reviews. I haven't checked the listing in a little while. At first I noticed they have almost a 5 star rating, but then the first reviews that show up are the top 3 bad ones! So, I totally understand your concerns. For me, I have had the pen for almost two years and it has been working really well with no issues. I only used it plugged in though. I feel like it isn't as strong when using it with just the battery, not plugged in. I think I will try to contact the owner directly now to ask him about his return/replacement policy as I am not really updated on that. Usually Amazon is really good about allowing returns, though there are some companies that don't allow it. I will try to find out and let you know what I hear back.

    What do you prefer in order: Nano needling, micro needling, the ordinary glycolic peel, tca peel?

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Love your question! This is a tough one. :) I think glycolic peels in general are my #1 favorite. TCA Peels next for the best results. Microneedling & nano needling. I love the nano needling as it is great for maintenance and for overall improvements in the skin. But the other methods are my favorite as they can create some great results & work deeper into the skin. I love each one for different reasons though.

    Is nano needling effective with no serum?

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe mildly effective. I think it might not be a good idea to do it without serum as it helps the pen glide too. I think it is pretty important to use serum while nano needling.

      You can use it anytime after nano needling. If you use a deeper cartridge (Deminuage sells Booster cartridges), then I would wait a couple hours or only do that one at night. But the daily cartridges are great too and I love using them in the morning, applying skincare and makeup right away.
