Thanks Steve and have a GREAT New Year. This year, May we all have the most vigorous trees that respond excellently to bonsai techniques, are not plagued with insects of any kind, and pair well with their pots!! ❤️🌲❤️☕️🙏
Thanks for watching and all the best my bonsai friend.

Thank you - I hope to eventually have a corky cork bark dwarf jade forest. ❤️🌲

I am curious to see how this forest progresses. I was just thinking the other day of doing a forest with a mix of Ports just to see what it will result in. In nature not all the trees are the same. Oh I see you don't have a piece of your rainbow one. Of course the pot is getting pretty full. Enjoyed the video. Thanks for the commentary and sharing. Have a great "New Year"! Looking forward to more interesting videos and commentary.

Thanks of the new year wishes and your kind comments!!
I perhaps DO need to add a rainbow 🌈 to the mix. This is actually my first mixed forest and, while this one will definitely need lots of fine tuning down the line, I think having variety will definitely make it more like a natural forest.
      Thanks for watching! ❤️❤️☕️

I like the look of multi-species in one forest...Will definitely try this idea out for a common place for cuttings, this is a great idea...So, no organics in this substrate...Something to think about...Great thought for the day, one pot, one watering...Always love the content...Thanks for sharing...Happy New Year...

Thanks Nathan! No organics at all in this one, but akadama (to me) almost acts like I’m in that it stays fairly most (but not soaked) and the roots will grow right through it. I haven’t repotted any in this new soil yet, but I think it will work out well. My $25 forest is also planted in it and, despite being ravaged by scale and mealies, it growing very very well. I will be taking the scissors drastically to that one soon.
Have a great NewYears and for sure start a ‘growing’ forest - so easy to maintain.

@CoffeeandBonsaiwithTom what's your source for akadama? I've been considering replacing volcanic rock with akadama.....I'm still using 20% organic in my mix, because my cuttings seem to grow better with the nutrients..

I opted to try a specific mix for shohin that I bought on the .99 cent bonsai group on Facebook - details below. I think I got it for $65 for 20 pounds, but the price varies. It’s great quality soil - small particles for smaller trees. He also sells a larger particle mix with less akadama in it for a bit less money.
If you get some - let me know what you think. So far, I have 5 trees in it and happy been very happy with it. ❤️🌲

Where do you go hiking at? Some of my favorites are out on the Mt Loop Highway, especially Mt Pilchuck, but that might be a little far for you.

      Fantastic!
One of my favorite areas to hike is the Olympic Peninsula. I have spent so much time exploring the coast near Lake Ozette and also Lake Crescent and many other wooded areas there. My wife and I also love the Mount Baker area and Diablo Lake for exploring. Closer to Seattle I enjoy hikes that I can easily get to that offer something impressive like waterfalls or an impressive ridge view. There are so many great places in our state / it’s the most beautiful place I’ve lived.
I haven’t been able to hike much lately, but take my dog for walks often around Lake Washington which I’ve always enjoyed.
Pilchuck is on my list once my stamina gets back to normal. Thanks for the great question and watching the show!!
