    This review of the new DJI Osmo Action 4 was mainly filmed on the Osmo Action 4. I chose to do this to show the impressive capabilities of this new action camera. The DJI Osmo Action 4 features a new imaging system featuring a larger 1/1.3" sensor and enhancements that allow you to capture stunning footage even in complex lighting conditions, including low-light environments. It builds off the impressive capabilities of the Action 3 including 160 minutes of record time, fast charging, and no overheating when filming at 4K/60. In this video, I demonstrate the capabilities of this camera and show footage in different scenarios and explain why I feel DJI is the new leader in the action camera market and why the Osmo Action 4 in my opinion is the best action camera you can get right now.

    I have just come across your cannel AP and have to say I greatly admire your presentation and realistic approach to to reviewing and editing your videos on the DJI Osmo Action 4. I have been cogitating and researching various action cameras for the past few days, watching oodles of YT clips, settling on one only to then be put off and moving on. I had settled on the Osmo Action 4, but read some unpleasant things about the DJI Mimo appt so was put off.
    Then I came across this video and I'm back onboard! Your content covers useful topics, and answers my questions providing much more information about things I didn't even now, I needed to know - first class. I then tapped into your channel and watched your other presentations on the OA4 and found them all excellent. I just really enjoy your calm delivery, no fuss, bobbing about or darting hither and thither camera actions, which makes listening to what you are saying, a pleasure and easier to understand.
    Thanks a million and oh yes, because of you, I have just clicked the button and purchased my very own DJI Osmo Action 4 Comb kit, which should be winging its way to me tomorrow. Thank you again!

    Have one coming this week. Main attraction is the reliability and the ability to connect a mic straight into the USB instead of having to use the GoPro mic adapter and an audio cable. It makes a small camera too bulky in my opinion.

    I have an Osmo Action Camera and the adapter for the audio fits "somewhat loosely" into the side of the camera. Unfortunately, sometimes it gets a wee-bit loose and then the mic no longer works. Thus, when I'm using it, I have to squeeze the mic to the camera and make sure I see the little mic icon before I start talking. Frustrating. Does this new Action 4 have that same issue? Does the mic adapter stay in place despite (for example) riding a bike over rough roads? In a perfect world, you wouldn't need an adapter...the camera's own mic would be enough.

    This is a great review! I am now second guessing the Action 2 I just bought! Question since you also have experience with the Action 2 - will it automatically switch from the internal memory to the card when you have the dual screen module attached? I went down a white water river and the thing only recorded two 5.20 min clips and one 1.17 min clip in 2.7K 60. All on the internal memory. I turned it on at the start and wanted if to run until the battery died - it missed 3/4 of my trip! I have no idea why it recorded clips in 3 segments - it should have kept rolling! I still had 100% and 58% of battery life.!? Thanks for any insights. It was in a waterproof case - the footage it took looks awesome - it just stopped! What a drag!

    My man I really enjoyed that well done.
    I love the RC footage but I could not find the shots where the car seemed to do a wheelie? Did it just magically stabilize that or did you edit out shots of the sky?

    Cant help but love this review especially with the RC action. The footage looks amazing on the Action 4. Best I have seen yet over the Hero 11 & Insta 360 Go 3. Audio=very respectable. Hell, Im still working with the Original Action so I guess I need to upgrade...I must admit the single biggest thing I would love to see DJI impliment is Hero's Star Trails...that is bad to the bone.Wondering if you have had any issues with the 360 Go 3....that form factor alone make drone & RC use quit appealing. The Run Cam 5 Orange does a pretty "decent" job at that, and if you crash really bad, your only out $125

      I agree I think, adding some night moved enhance the usability of this camera. And the nice thing is, that’s just software so it could be easily implemented. I’ve had no issues with go 3. I do use it for some shots if I need something ultra small and light The only limiting factor is the resolution on it.

    Great job Shawn! @AirPhotography - I've invested in the GoPro ecosystem so stayed away from the Action line, but the evidence, including your video, points to a time to migrate I think. One thing I like about GoPro is the ability to monitor and trigger via the App on my phone. Please cover this feature, if it exists on the Action, in your future videos. Have a safe and fun time on the East Coast!

    • @AirPhotography
      @AirPhotography  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, that feature is available on the action with their app called mimo app. And when it comes to framing shots and monitoring, it actually works a little better because you still get a Life’s preview after you start recording whereas on the GoPro app, it doesn’t give you a live preview anymore. But one nice benefit of the GoPro app as you can connect via Bluetooth if you just want to use it as a Remote, which is almost instant. That’s a nice feature.

      There are mounts such as the wearable mounts, selfie sticks, and car/helmet/bike mounts that connect with the standard fingers are 100% compatible with the Action 4. However ones that go around the camera like sleeve& lanyard, mods, dive case, and floaty are not compatible.
      When it comes to batteries, the A4 has 2.5hr battery life, so you don't need many batteries.
      Personally I am still keeping my Hero11 bc I've only had it since Christmas and it works great for me.

    If you turn off stabilisation, what they call rocksteady on the 1, does it increase the FOV? On the action 1 it does. For in-car use turning off rocksteady gives a nice experience.

    • @AirPhotography
      @AirPhotography  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, it does. As soon as you turn on stabilization, it will crop in a little bit. It needs that crop in order to do the stabilization. And that’s across the board for any action camera

    Hi Shawn! I've been watching all your Osmo Action 4 videos and have enjoyed and learned from them all. Like you, I enjoy riding my ebike and as of a few days ago, I recorded my first TH-cam video riding my bike. I recorded it in 1080P 60FPS and on my MacBook it looks great. However, when I posted it onto TH-cam, the video looked a bit blurry except for (relatively) stationary items like my handlebar. I know that you post a lot of riding videos and so I was wondering how you get around this annoyance? Thank you!

    • @AirPhotography
      @AirPhotography  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, TH-cam can really over compress videos. I get that actually quite a bit of mine. I do find a few upload in 4K. It’s a little bit easier on them. I tried to upload at 4K with 100 Mb. The downfall is it takes longer and eats up a lot of your storage space.

  • @perivv
    @perivv 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    When you ride on the bike one can see that the appearance of all the foliage and the leaves of the nature around are strongly pixelated because of the image compression. Is it due to TH-cam video compression or does your footage have the same looking?
    Is it possible to download somewhere a sample of original recording file?
    Thank you.
    I greatly appreciate the way you are precise in your explanations and making tests

    • @AirPhotography
      @AirPhotography  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is definitely because of the TH-cam compression the footage looks absolutely stunning. That was one of the first things I noticed when viewing it on my iPad at full resolution just told incredible that looked.

    • @perivv
      @perivv 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AirPhotography That’s Very disappointing. What could we do to fix this? Which definition did you uploaded to TH-cam? 4K or 1080p? With how many key frame refresh per seconds? Not sure if it would change things. I personally use a cheap action cam to ride on a motorbike. The resulting footages have a lot of compression artefacts and highlights are burned. I would like to upgrade this equipment, but if it only fixes the issue with highlights, it doesn’t worth the money. From time to time I also use an insta360 X2 and it seems it’s producing better results. But I should double check because the very wide angle of the lenses of the 360 means less displacement of the objects far from the centre. I suppose…
