I love how this dude pulls through for even the most desperate of battles. Seeing such skill is always a great watch and a fantastic time to learn and improve.

I find it incredible that someone who has spent thousands upon thousands of hours mastering the mechanics of this game, can't identify a questing knight from its unit card.

The beginning where he said let the enemy make their mistake makes me think of a famous quote which basically goes with it "counter your enemies smart decisions but allow their mistakes"
Using Leon to play Mount and Blade Total War is one of my secret hobby....... especially with sword of Khaine.
There needs a mod for Leon to be able to hold a feast for Bretonnia

@@Sigxy Killing Leon in a siege while he is hosting a feast will get you Butterlord achievement
once you seriously start to take over the map you can spam builds that give you 2+ armour... so it's pretty easy to get 200+ armour for Leon. He's the most unstoppable lord i've ever played.

@@Loj84It Is in the case when a unit that costs very, very, very little, or 0 (depends on how many "stacks" you want to deploy) can be deployed with 80-100 armor, 100 leadership in a faction that has no ... increased army upkeep due to supply line. This is something that you can only do in very late game since you need like if i good remember 35-40 tier 4 cities. Discard 4-5 stacks of Hipoknights. Leave 2 and create 20+ peasant mob stacks with the Lord and as many casters as you can. This is an inept and less effective copy of the VC skelespam :D BUT FUN AS HELL.
Logan hot individual lords no, but for main army most certainly yes. For instance let’s say you have slayers, witch elves, or any other class cannon type unit and then give them 80 armor because of the stacking armor buildings. Suddenly those elite but fragile units become monstrosities that are 3 or 4 times as useful as they were before
Who would win? An army of knights led by a self-healing heavily armored king, or a band of shitty skellingtons crammed into a copse of trees?
I love the New AI in Control of reinforcements mechanic. It's awesome to play as greenskins with waagh And vampire counts with skeleton fodder army. Just let the AI bog down the enemies And you use your stronger army to kill the rest. Hell, I managed to Win against 4 chaos armies thanks to the skeleton spam reinforcements.
I wish that they implement a technology in the skavens that allow skavenslaves tô be proper slaves And cost nothing

I have about 1400 hours in this game and about 700 in TWW1 and I was today years old when I found out you could hover over enemy units' leadership bars to see the breakdown of what was affecting it. Thanks fam.

I had a similar experience as empire vs him.
I killed all of his units, and he then wrecked my silly on his own, killing 350 dudes. He was on his griffon, and just kept cicle charging my missle units, and was able to route my remaining 400 troops.
After the battle, he was litterally the only unit of bretronia to survive.
Louen is, truly, a Legendary Lord. He's not that powerful when you play him - there are distinct limits to his unkillableness - but it IS fun when you run into skeleton armies like that. :)
Legend: the AI should attack my weak spot, but they don't think about that.

If cavalry is chasing your dog units then you can widen teh gap by going through trees. Wolves are considered small so they don't get a speed debuff

Louen is such an absolute chad in legendary difficulty 15% physical resist from difficulty + 20 % if his army has blessing of the lady + his ward save he very quickly becomes an absolute brute.
he passively has the blessing of the lady regardless of if his army has won a heroic victory its one of his special perks so he will always have that bonus +20% phys resist
The not sacrificing your trash unit to ensure victory by point is a great piece of advice

i think there are others that know it, its just that legend tries to make people learn about it too.
With vampire counts, Always take the money! almost always money is the best choice. you need shitton of money, and since skeletons are soo much crowded, 1 army of skeletons is 3k replenishment doesnt do much. This comment is for viewers, not to criticize Legend
If all goes to shit and you wanna cheese it you can just run around with the wolves until the timer is out :D
I once had a situation, playing Skaven, that I killed off the enemy's entire army, but ran out of all ammo and Louen just didn't break. My army was fully intact, just out of ammo and I couldn't do shit. I just hopelessly watched him slaughter my entire army himself and I couldn't do any damage to him. Why didn't he break when he lost his army?

So what I learned is - if I have any firepower, any ammunition, literally anything that can be thrown left, pelt it at Louen and hope to the Horned Rat that the front line somehow holds against the cavalry. :
@@hoofie7371 if he gets too much defensive stats, hope to hell that your ratling guns manage to kill him. I´m not even kidding, you can get him stuck in warpgale loop if you have three mages that have it, but when he have 90% resistance to most things... its gonna take a while.
Excellent tactics on display here, and good micro work early on. Most players - including those who claim to be experts in the messages - would have lost that battle. Legend finished it pretty much in-tact.

Question for Legend and the community: What do you use for mid to late game armies for the vampire counts? I get the free upkeep on skeletons and spam free skeleton stacks but once I get to about like turn 60 or 70 the empire factions start to hit their late game units and especially if the dwarves start getting aggressive their armor is a pain to deal with. Do I just need to spam skeleton stacks harder or should I be looking into grave guard with great weapons, vargulfs, or terrorgheists to mix in with the skeletons? I am making sure every army has a necromancer or lord that can cast wind of death and trying to maximize knowledgable traits but I worry about the dwarf magic resistance. Thanks to anyone who sees this!

depends on how high your economy is. if you are hitting 10~15k grand a turn, you can start mixing skeletons with vargulfs, terrorgheists and grave guard to make it way more durable and to dont relly on wind of death too much. but if not, principally knowing that VC economy is shit, spam skeletons harder. and dont worry about the dwarf magic resistance, overcasted wind of death simply dont care about it. it wont just kill like, some lucky dwarfs, but you il still get hundreds or thousands of kills.
AI Dwarfs have almost no answer to units with mass or Calvary. 2-4 Black Coaches with hexwraiths and 200+ magic reserves should roll over everything they can put out. I would use those units before Grave Guard.
lol, one saving your disaster campaign has a full dino stack, the other has like 5 skaven armies, meanwhile in my campaingn all the AI just make armies with at least 5 hero's in each
YOu will conquer Bretonnia off the back bones of Skeleton Spears. Another master class.
Just had yesterday a similar situation, I only had one army without any spellcaster, I still crushed his army with corner camping but at the end the fucking king was still full live and none of my units either my hero or (don't know the english terms ) well undeads with greatswords or my undead knights could deal more damage than his regeneration
Edit: Still had 17 units against him alive but he wouldn't break

Played TWWH over 8k hours. Can't tell apart Questing Knights and Knights Errant tooltips.
i can confirm he's like that even on normal difficulty vs trash units - tried attacking him with 2 full stacks of skeletons with all upgrades - he didnt even reached his regeneration limit
The worst part of playing Barrow Legion, easily. Once you get past Louen you're basically set, but he's such a pain to deal with.

the best way to deal with Leon is try to catch him in walled city. In siege battle he will just wait for people to shoot at him, and since Bretonnia settlements are all walled, it's quite easy.
except you don't do any shooting as a vampire count faction aside from spells.

same thing happened to me when I played as kholek suneater basically got the army losses when facing vampire counts back in WH1
Normally i never use mods, but the one i will use for VC is undead dont tire. Which makes perfect sense to me but is a lil OP when your whole army has perfect vigor. But then again they are the restless dead.
I mean, it isnt when you most of the army is just skellies that cant win against 90% of other melee troops unless they blob. if you start hiring higher tier units, then it starts becoming a bit op
Once the questing knights had started charging into the skeleton blob and gotten bogged down, why not set the two vampires on them? The knights were hampered by trees, distracted by skellies, and vampires are melee beasts (even the wizard ones)... why not use them to wreck the knights faster? Certainly not set them on Leon, because that would have been suicide, but they definitely could have caused a lot of damage on the bogged-down knights. Not criticizing really, since the strategy worked... just curious?

If you wanted to kill Louen Leoncour, why not spam Spirit Leech on him? Spirit Leech is designed to do massive damage to single entity units like Lords, Heroes, and monsters.
He regens and also has a bunch of ward save, in the end spirit leech was better used to kill knights who can do damage a lot faster than louen can, considering there were knights which had 500 kills

And also a necromancer with master of the dead. That would've helped out a lot here. And also get some skeleton spears, not just swords.

@@Eldiandiril I believe there is a faction unlocker mod that lets you do that, however I know that Legendoftotalwar tends to shy away from mods(he has used them before but more rarely)
It's a faction unlock mod. Just a generic faction with no LL. It does not modify gameplay or units. Only a difficult starting location.

i literally had 1 unit of spear men , 1 unit of basic marauders and an injured basic lord...all 3 couldnt kill leon and i lost because of 1 unit...wtf
Playing with Imrik, Gor rock alone defeated 10 full units of lothern sea guards (with no ammo), killing 600 until they ran away, i dont know if it was a bug or something about my army dealing fire damage.
Its not a bug spears have horrible malee attack and damages vs non large units and with gor rock being a tank he just outgrinds them
Gor Rok is just like Leon, almost immortal at the start and immortal at the end.
This guy is lucky that Leon isn't unbreakable. He is such an ass to fight as VC, since you don't have any missiles/artillery to kill him, army losses is the only way to deal with him.

Legend, why don't you select your whole stack, spread them to the desired formation, then select half>stack>repeat? That one-by-one-by-one bullshit is incredibly tedious and time-consuming and I hate you for it.

Louen, for sure. too many resistances and regen. its like malus against gor rok, or luthor harkon against gor rok. if we take all of them at their prime, the resistances in malus, luthor harkon and luoen, couple that with regen and having unbreakable, means that gor rok il lose most of the time. maybe if gor rok have the sword of khaine he can win against louen, but it would be a pretty bad fight for both of them.

Depends. The missile resistance on the unit card is additive. Eg 20 missile resistance all missile attacks reduced by 20 percent. Eg iron shield 60 percent chance of missile doing 0 damage. The resistance provided by the woods is the arrows hitting the trees themselves.

If 30% of 100 arrows hit trees and of those last 70 hit units, then with an iron shield (60% block chance) another 42 would be blocked by shields and 28 would deal damage.
For stuff to work additively it'd have to apply at the same time as the block chance.
@@rraune7515 Idk man but the hitting the trees is not a percentage it's really luck based of the arrow tradgetory. They are different mechanisms. The missile resistance is damage reduced by a certain percentage. The shield is a chance of the missile taking no effect they work independently of one another. If the arrow by passing the 60 percent block chance and hits and the unit has 20 percent missile resistance the arrows damage will be reduced by 20 percent. They are different game mechanics, and can't really be additive or multiplicative.

They're knights that are errant, i.e. walking the earth, like Caine from Kung Fu.

They don't extra damage, per say: the full charge bonus always applies to fleeing units, who have zero Melee Defense.

When was Invocation of Nehek nerfed?
A while ago, they changed it to only effect 3 units at a time I think
The Everchosen it affects 4 at a time like most all healing affects currently

They need to nerf Louen
And several lords in general. The game is unfortunately torn between fantasy and strategy. In a fantasy game it makes sense that the heroes are way stronger than everything else, but in a strategy game it doesn't. I'm fine with lords and heroes being the best units in an army, but not by more than say 5-10% instead of situations like this where Louen alone is many times stronger than the entire rest of his army.
@@brothir I mean it's campaign. It's not like the Lord's are insanely powerful in multiplayer since you can't get a broken combination of traits which brings you up to 90 physical resist
