The "down, down, down" bit cracked me up, because in the *drama version, Wei Ying apparently searched Xue Yang thoroughly enough to where XY made some comment about Wei Ying not caring about his reputation. He seemed to find it amusing, probably because he knew they could search him forever and not find the Yin Iron piece.

When they went to investigate who murdered the chang clan, they found Xue yang and then xiao xingchen appeared and fought him. Song lan got there as well. They bound him and interrogated him for the yin iron but he said he didnt have it so wei wuxian searched him. It's in episode 10 of the drama.
