    For the PG dip, it’s actually called the “pre-registration” course. This makes it more easier for people to understand. Great video!!!

    • @thenurseabigail6234
      @thenurseabigail6234  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Beatrice, I guess I was yapping away and didn’t mention the pre registration part of the ‘PGDip or MSc’ title...my bad. It is important to note that not all universities have the ‘pre registration’ part in the title of the course which can be misleading for some people. Of course mentioning that would have made it so much easier! Thank you x

      Hi Beatrice, I know a few people that have actually completed the course and that’s how I know it’s not called ‘pre registration course’, in every university. Nonetheless, that’s great news that you’ve made a decision to pursue the course...I wish you the very best! x

    Hi! I know you posted this video a while ago, but I'm currently half way through a business degree. However I always wanted to be a nurse but I was discouraged by people around me at the time of applying for uni, which made me go towards business instead. I have had nursing stuck in my mind throughout this whole time and recently decided that I do want to take the nursing route instead. Although, I have a year and a half left on my business degree and I have no funding left from SFE. What route do you recommend and would I get funding at all? Thank you x

    Do we need to apply to a university before doing apprenticeship or is it when we have applied for apprenticeship that we can apply for uni?

    • @thenurseabigail6234
      @thenurseabigail6234  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi! The university application for the nursing apprenticeship is usually done with the support of the employer (for example the NHS or private healthcare services).
      So essentially you will need to be employed in the appropriate healthcare setting or will need to have secured a position in the appropriate healthcare setting for the apprenticeship, before you can apply for Uni.
      **the application will look for evidence of the your employer’s details and support.
      Hope this helps 🙂

    Hello,
    I'm currently in my Final year of my Psychology Undergraduate Degree and I wish to go into Mental Health Nursing.
    My A-Levels are not that good as my GCSE's, but I'm working at a 1st class honors in Uni. I worry that my A-Levels will hinder my application if I apply for Undergraduate Nursing.
    Should I do a PGdip?
    Thanks!

    • @reflectocean2401
      @reflectocean2401 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your A levels will not hinder your application at all if you have your Degree in Psychology. Once you finnish your degree you can apply for a Msc or pgdip Nursing which will only take you 2 years. However, the 2 year course is a lot of self study but you get a lot of free time. Hope that helps x

      Hi, thank you very much for the reply. I have another question related to the application process.
      Would you rather wait until you know what your final result is then apply for nursing in the next year, or say that you've finished your second year and you're going into third year. Could you apply this September, even though you don't have your final grade for your degree?
      Hope this makes sense x

    Can you apply as a mature student in the UK if you live in Ireland ? Thank you 😊

    • @thenurseabigail6234
      @thenurseabigail6234  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Eli, yes you can apply to UK universities as a mature student. I know a few mature students from Dublin that have completed the nursing course in the UK. Depending on what qualifications you have, you may be able to complete the course in a shorter period of time. If you’ve already gotten a degree in something else that’s relevant, then you can definitely apply for the 2 year course. If you’re doing the FETAC course or if you’ve already gotten the FETAC or Leaving Cert, you can apply for the 3 year course through UCAS with your results. In Scotland some of the universities do it over 4 years, so you’ll have to check the universities curriculum before applying. Also I know some of the universities in Northern Ireland have an agreement with SUSI in Ireland, which means that they’ll cover your fees and student grant if you’re going to one of the Universities linked with SUSI and you meet the financial requirements.
      If you have time have a look at my previous video, ‘Entry routes to nursing Degree course in Ireland’. I talk a little bit about studying nursing in the UK for Irish residents, it might be helpful x
