    I use a steel ruler to guard the edge and start from there, place REALLY lightly, which makes it much easier to straighten after. My biggest multiplacer is 15 and the trick still works 😆 always have to resist nudging the drills with the tips too before I use straightener, because the tips push them down more than it can push them to the side, and I think it just pushes the glue underneath to be thinner and cure too much, such that by the time I get to use straightener, it’s really hard to push them into place or to stay straight.

    Great video! Katie I notice you always work flat on the table, but I work on a standing slant board. I have worked for years on diamond painting but never worked with square drills. I am starting a Hawaiian Girl and her Dog. I thought for a first square experience, a DIY project would be great! I thought you use Notmy mother’s mud or we wax. I use them too! I also use glue dots! I will just try all of them again. I used your white tacky museum goop but I felt it did leave a residue! I love your channel and I love hearing stories about your family! Thanks, wish me luck! Ricki💎💙

    I’ve found I get straighter more lined up square drills than when I single place. I don’t checkerboard when I single place though because I go by color. I need to try it with sectioning though.

    • @berlientje
      @berlientje 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DiamondsandWashi I do like the curved ones. For me, they work better. I did try out a few, a 3, a 5, an 8 and a 10 placer. I do prefer the 8 and 10. With the straight ones I always grab the 4 placer for some reason.

  • @kodigoldenboy

    Nice video and great information. For some reason when I plant a row of square drills, they all rotate a bit which drives me a bit nuts. Not sure if I am pressing too hard or rotating it as I try to pull it off. I've been trying to do it straight down though so hopefully your technique for planting the first drill then rocking down the rest will solve this issue for me. Multi-placing is so satisfying when it works. :)

    ❤ your soothing voice and helpful tutorials. Working on squares has been extremely frustrating for me when multiplacing because when push drills over they get off from the row so I cannot keep track of pattern and forget where I am. Like it’s a full row off by time get to row 45-50. Gets confusing. I work right to left in vertical rows. What am I doing wrong?
    I don’t enjoy single placing, but I guess I’m gonna have to try. to avoid the extreme frustration anger that occurs when multiplacing squares and pattern gets so wonky. I’ve had to stop 3 paintings now due to issue and restarting. 😢

  • @LisasColoringCorner
    @LisasColoringCorner 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I’m going to try the horizontal way you lay the drills down. I’ve been doing it vertically. But I did notice near the end of the video where there was a black area that went mostly up and down. Do you then multiplace vertically? Do you have a tutorial on that too?

  • @LisasColoringCorner
    @LisasColoringCorner 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What do you use in your single placer, especially when you’re straightening out any drills they are out of alignment a little? Also, if you have one square left after multiplacing, do you still use the multiplacer to place that one drill or do you flip over to the other end to place that single drill? Thanks for all your help! And how to you remove the putty and then put more in?

      Unfortunately, I don't, at the moment. I know that other diamond painting creators have, if you wanted to try searching for one? Otherwise, I'm totally happy to answer any specific questions you have about using them! I know there's a bit of a learning curve.

    • @DiamondsandWashi
      @DiamondsandWashi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have, but to be completely honest, they don't work well for me and my personal style of multiplacing. They're tricky to only pick up 1-2 drills with, for example, and also really difficult to pick up at an angle like I do. BUT, I know a lot of people enjoy using them and I think they're worth trying to see if they work for you.

    Great video Katie! I am not a fan of multiplacing square drills, since I am always going back and trying to fix them. Have you tried a curved multiplacer? I purchased one recently and I am struggling with getting it to work correctly. I normally use the thin placers from Staroar, and really like them. Thank you for the helpful tips! xoxo 💜

    • @DiamondsandWashi
      @DiamondsandWashi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, Laura! Squares are tricky for me to multiplace, too. I’ve tried a curved multiplacer just a couple of times and had a pretty tough time with it, so I gave up. I’ll have to give them a try again soon because a few people asked about them. But yes! The thin ones from Staroar are just so easy and reliable, I always go back to them too.
      Thanks for watching! 💛

    Question, is there a way to get the static little dots out of the bag and have them not go everywhere? I open the bag and they are so full of static that they go all over the place stick to my hand you go to move the tray and they just jump out at you any tips or help that I can get to do something so that it won't do that I would appriciate it greatly

      Oh nooo, I'm sorry Renee! I'm sure I wasn't totally perfect with placing, and then DAC's square drills were just a tiny bit on the small side so it was tricky to get them to line up neatly across the board. But hopefully it still gives some helpful tips! 😅
